Species of the genus Bonomiella Conci, 1942, are a parasitic on bird species belonging to the family Columbidae (Aves, Columbiformes). In the present study we redescribe the species Bonomiella columbae Emerson, 1957 from Argentinean specimens, and describe the new species B. zenaidae sp. nov. from Zenaida auriculata virgate Bertoni, 1901, and Z. auriculata auriculata (des Murs 1847) from Argentina and Chile. Descriptions include male and female diagnostic features, and also descriptions of nymphal instars II and III. Also, we include a full diagnosis of the genus Bonomiella and an annotated checklist of the six species known to date, with their respective hosts.

A New Species

Pseudolebinthus is an intriguing genus of the tribe Xenogryllini with a distribtuion restricted to southeast Africa and characterized by unique morphological features such as asymmetrical male forewings and harp veins shaped as elongated balloons. It is sister group to the widely distributed genus Xenogryllus and has been known by two species, P. africanus Robillard, 2006 and P. whellani Robillard, 2006. The genus was initially diagnosed based exclusively on male morphological features. In this study, we add a new species to the genus, P. gorochovi Robillard sp. nov. and revise the diagnostic features using both male and female characters. We also update identification keys for the species of the genus.

The Australian species of the small heterogastrid genus Parathyginus Scudder, 1957 have been reviewed, resulting in the establishment of the junior subjective synonymy of P. doddi (Distant, 1918) with P. signifer (Walker, 1872), and the description of two new species, P. australis sp. nov. and P. acuminatus sp. nov. A redescription of the genus is provided with emphasis on male and female genitalia characters, along with a key to all included Australian species. Male genitalia, particularly the details of the aedeagus, have been rarely studied in this genus or for that matter the family Heterogastridae particularly due to the difficulty in inflating the inflatable sections. In this study, therefore, an attempt was made to fully inflate and describe the aedeagus of all the species included in this contribution, as well as of Heterogaster urticae (Fabricius, 1775), the type species of the oldest genus Heterogaster Schilling, 1829, of the family Heterogastridae.

The Fedrizziidae are the most diverse group of mites associated with passalid beetles in Australia. Herein, I re-diagnose the family, genera and species, and describe ten new species from Australia, Indonesia and Thailand: Fedrizzia abradoalves sp. nov., F. gilloglyi sp. nov., F. parvipilus sp. nov., Neofedrizzia bunyas sp. nov., N. gordoni sp. nov., N. helenae sp. nov., N. imparmentum sp. nov., N. janae sp. nov., N. lepas sp. nov. and N. sulawesi sp. nov. Fedrizzia strandi (Oudemans), Neofedrizzia leonilae Rosario & Hunter, Neofedrizzia tani Pope & Chernoff and Neofedrizzia vitzthumi (Oudemans) are re-described. Neofedrizzia bicornis Karg is a junior synonym of Neofedrizzia scutata Womersley, which is also transferred to Fedrizzia. Fedrizzia unospina Karg is a junior synonym of Fedrizzia carabi Womersley. Fedrizzia gloriosa Berlese is transferred to Neofedrizzia. The specimens described by Womersley as Fedrizzia sp. cf. grossipes represent specimens of Fedrizzia sellnicki Womersley. Parafedrizzia buloloensis Womersley is recorded from Australia for the first time. A key to adult male and female Fedrizziidae and a summary of host records is provided.

A New Species

The description of a new species of oribatid mites (Oribatida) of the family Zetorchestidae—Zetorchestes krisperi sp. nov.—is proposed based on adult and tritonymph specimens collected from rainforest soil of Bi Dup-Nui Ba National Park (southern Vietnam). We also review the distinguishing characteristics for Zetorchestes species and present an identification key to Zetorchestes species of the world. Diagnostic features of Zetorchestes nymphs are discussed.

Two new species of Oecobiidae are described from Central and South America, representing the first native members of the family recorded south of Mexico. Oecobius eberhardi sp.nov. is described based on male and female specimens collected from two localities in Costa Rica. Platoecobius kooch sp.nov., the second species in the genus, is described from female specimens collected in Southern Argentina. A new diagnosis is proposed for the genus Platoecobius Chamberlin & Ivie, 1935, which now includes one species endemic to the south-eastern USA and another from Argentinean Patagonia.

In the fourth part of the revision on the Asian Metarbelidae we describe the new genus Tagoria Yakovlev & Zolotuhin, gen. nov. (type species, by original designation: Arbela watsoni Hampson, 1900). The male and female of Tagoria watsoni (Hampson, 1900) comb. nov. are redescribed, the new species Tagoria dierli Yakovlev & Zolotuhin, sp. nov. Beetles of the family Buprestidae are treated for Morelos, the second smallest state in Mexico, in a partially annotated checklist, with the following new species being described: Acmaeodera noguerai Westcott, A. tenuivittata Westcott, Agrilus cyphothoracoides Hespenheide, A. pseudosallei Hespenheide, Brachys exquisitus Hespenheide, and Chrysobothris tessellatus Westcott. Special emphasis is placed on the fauna of La Reserva de La Biosfera Sierra de Huautla. Twentysix genera and 139 species from Morelos are recorded herein.

Pyrrosia sarthalensis, belonging to the family Polypodiaceae from the Bani Valley of Kathua district, Himalayan Jammu & Kashmir, India is described here as a new species. It shows restricted distributional range and so far, is only known from the Bani Valley, within the Himalayan centre of endemism. It is an epiphytic fern species having brownish sori, formed only on the upper half of the frond. Other diagnostic features include grooved rhizomes, rhizome scales, lamina size and structure, sori placement, size and structure, and spore characters. This new species is morphologically similar to P. flocculosa but differs in certain characters.

Mosquito borne diseases remains as an importance source of morbidity and mortality in Sri Lanka. To better control vectors which transmit the diseases, updated list of the species present in the county is imperative. It is also vital in documenting the diversity of the family Culicidae. Original records were collected from a literature review to compile a list of the species recorded in Sri Lanka. This work illustrates the updated list of mosquito species in Sri Lanka and their current taxonomic status based on previous studies from 1901 to date. A total of 159 species belonging to 19 genera including sibling species, have been included in the revised mosquito checklist in Sri Lanka. The present work includes 13 species, two genera (Lutzia, Verrallina) and 9 subgenera in subfamily Culicinae, tribe Aedini of genus Aedes (Bruceharrisonius, Collessius, Danielsia, Dendroskusea, Downsiomyia, Fredwardsius, Hulecoeteomyia, Neomelaniconion, Phagomyia) in to the checklist which were not included in the previous mosquito checklist published nearly 26 years ago. However, further work is essential to refine this list and to explore the abundance of new species within the country. Improved morphological and molecular identification methods will sanction the refinement of the mosquito catalog in years to come.
