Males of two Bruchomyiinae species were collected during fieldwork in Central and South America. Boreofairchildia belti Ježek, Oboňa & Le Pont sp. nov. and Notofairchildia motacuensis Ježek, Oboňa & Le Pont sp. nov. are described from a rain forerst site in Nicaragua and a rocky ridge site in Bolivia, respectively. Differential diagnoses are included, and important diagnostic characters illustrated.

Xiphocentron is the most species-rich genus of the pantropical family Xiphocentronidae. Among its five subgenera, Antillotrichia is the most diverse and the only one to occur in South America and Antilles. In the present study, two new species of Xiphocentron (Antillotrichia) are described from southern Atlantic Forest, Brazil. Xiphocentron gwarakeraba sp. nov. is diagnosed by the very elongate inferior appendage not bearing spines and with a simple mesal sclerite; X. muelleri sp. nov. is diagnosed by the inferior appendage with its ventral margin produced posterad and distinctly truncate. New distributional records are provided for X. acqualume, X. jaguare, X. kamakan, and X. maracanan. Additional non-genital diagnostic characters are presented for X. jaguare, and intraspecific morphological variations of forewing fork II (R3 and R4) and male genitalia are described for X. maracanan.

Two new species of Disholcaspis Dalla Torre & Kieffer 1910, Disholcaspis bettyannae and D. bisethiae (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Cynipini) are described from Panama. The two new species induce galls on Quercus bumelioides Liebm. and Q. lancifolia Schledl & Cham. (Fagaceae, sect. Quercus, White Oaks). Diagnostic characters, gall descriptions, distribution, biological data, as well as inquiline and parasitoid associated community data of the new species are given. The new species represent the first records of the genus Disholcaspis from the Neotropical region.

We propose two new species: Pneumia kabelaki sp. nov. from the Czech Republic and P. toubkalensis sp. nov. from Mo-rocco. Pneumia isabellae (Wagner), a new record for Slovenia, is redescribed. Differential diagnoses are included and im-portant diagnostic characters illustrated. The concept of some Palaearctic Pericomaini is discussed and all describedspecies and subspecies of the genus Pneumia Enderlein are listed with a report of 34 new combinations. The followingspecies are transferred from Pericoma Haliday to Pneumia: Pneumia ariegica (Vaillant), P. borealis (Berdén), P. califor-nica (Kincaid), P. canariensis (Tonnoir), P. delphinensis (Georges), P. extricata (Eaton, P. hirticornis (Tonnoir), P. isabel-lae (Wagner), P. jungi (Vaillant), P. longistylis (Mirouse), P. marinkovicae (Krek), P. omogoensis (Tokunaga & Komyo),P. propinqua (Satchell), P. rivularis (Berdén), P. sziladyi (Szabó), P. thomasi (Vaillant), P. vandeli (Mirouse). In addition,nineteen species are transferred from Satchelliella Vaillant to Pneumia: Pneumia arvernica (Vaillant), P. balcanica (Krek),P. bosniaca (Krek), P. bucegiana (Vaillant), P. dissimilis (Krek), P. distincta (Krek), P. incurvata (Krek), P. joosti (Wag-ner), P. montenegrina (Krek), P. narsanica (Vaillant & Joost), P. pyrenaica (Vaillant), P. sanae (Krek), P. sandaliae (Sala-manna), P. scotiae (Curran), P. stammeri dinarica (Krek), P. stylata (Vaillant, 1973), P. tarae (Krek), P. ussurica (Wagner) and P. vaillanti (Wagner).

A new genus, Prokius Nieves Aldrey, Medianero & Nicholls, gen. nov., and two new species of oak gall wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae: Cynipini), Prokius cambrai Medianero & Nieves-Aldrey sp. nov. and Prokius lisethiae Medianero & Nieves-Aldrey sp. nov., are described from adults reared from galls on Quercus bumelioides Liebm (Fagaceae, sect. Quercus, white oaks) collected in Panama. The new genus is phylogenetically and morphologically close to Dros Kinsey and forms part of a large clade that includes species from several other genera that appear to require revision, including Andricus Hartig and Phylloteras Ashmead. Molecular and morphological data, diagnostic characters, gall descriptions, distribution and biological data of the new genus and the new species are given. This new genus represents the fourth recently described genus of Cynipidae endemic to the Neotropical region.

A taxonomic revision of Mycolybas Crotch, 1876 is proposed. Historically the genus comprised seven species: M. coccineipennis (Motschulsky, 1858), M. cruentatus (Kirsch, 1865), M. egae Crotch, 1876, M. lucidus (Lacordaire, 1842), M. melanocorynus (Lacordaire, 1842), M. rufipennis Guérin, 1956 and M. sanguinosus (Motschulsky, 1858), recorded from Central and South America. After a morphological analysis, new diagnostic characters were discovered (i.e. armed laciniae for M. coccineipennis, and tarsal sexual dimorphism for M. lucidus and two new species). Passalus Fabricius, 1792 is the largest genus of Passalidae and presents great diversity in South America, mainly in the Amazon region. Currently this complex and heterogeneous genus is subdivided into three subgenera: P. (Pertinax) Kaup, 1869, P. (Mitrorhinus) Kaup, 1871, and P. (Passalus). Herein, two new species of Passalus from the western region of the Brazilian Amazon, a diverse but poorly studied area, are described and illustrated. The new species Passalus (Pertinax) deuterocerus sp. nov. and Passalus (Passalus) cleidecostae sp. nov. are compared with similar species occurring in nearby regions. Also, the diagnostic characters used to define the subgenera and sections of Passalus are summarized.

In this paper we re-evaluate Cyanallagma Kennedy 1920, which currently includes 15 species, and we address another five species that share diagnostic characters with some of them but are currently placed within Leptagrion Selys 1876, Mesamphiagrion Kennedy 1920, and Telagrion Selys 1876. A new genus, Oreiallagma, is described to include five species originally placed in Acanthagrion Selys 1876, Cyanallagma, and Telagrion. These species are O. thelkterion (De Marmels 1997) (type species), O. acutum (Ris 1918), O. oreas (Ris 1918), O. prothoracicum (Kimmins 1945), and O. quadricolor (Ris 1918). The last stadium larva of O. quadricolor is described. The remaining species currently includedin Cyanallagma are allocated to two separate genera: Cyanallagma sensu stricto and Mesamphiagrion. Cyanallagma sensu stricto comprises southern South American species including the type species, Cyanallagma interruptum (Selys 1876). Mesamphiagrion Kennedy 1920 includes a cluster of species from northwestern South America that are considered congeneric with the type species Mesamphiagrion occultum (Ris 1918). Two new species from Ecuador, M. dunklei and M. ecuatoriale, are described and Argia hebdomatica Navás 1934 is found to be a junior synonym of M. ovigerum (Calvert 1909). Synonymic lists, diagnoses, illustrations, keys, and distribution maps for the three genera are provided.

Tomosvaryella Aczél, 1939 has a cosmopolitan distribution and is a genus well studied in general in the Neotropical Region. However, in Colombia only three species were recorded. Two new species of Tomosvaryella are described from protected areas and from conflict territories of limited access in Colombia, namely: Tomosvaryella macarenensis sp. nov. (type-locality: Serrania Macarena, Meta) and T. martae sp. nov. (type-locality: San Vicente del Caguan, Caquetá). The female of T. tuberculata Hardy, 1948 is described. Tomosvaryella similis (Hough, 1899) is new to South America (Colombia) and T. galapagensis (Curran, 1934), T. lynchi (Shannon, 1927), T. mexicanensis Ale-Rocha & Rafael, 1995, T. similis, T. tuberculata and T. venezuelana Ale-Rocha, 1993 are reported for the first time in Colombia. Illustrations and a dichotomic key to Colombian species of Tomosvaryella are presented. Furthermore, the diagnosis of all species recorded in Colombia are amended. The Tomosvaryella fauna is increased from three to 11 species in Colombia.

Recent study of the water scavenger beetle subfamily Acidocerinae in the Neotropical region has uncovered numerous undescribed species that are not able to be placed in existing genera. Here, we describe three new genera to accommodate 17 of these new species from South America: Aulonocharesgen. nov. for Aulonochareslingulatussp. nov. (French Guiana, Suriname), Aulonocharesnovoairensissp. nov. (Brazil), and Aulonocharestubulussp. nov. (Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela); Ephydrolithusgen. nov. for Ephydrolithushamadaesp. nov. (Brazil), Ephydrolithusminorsp. nov. (Brazil), Ephydrolithusogmossp. nov. (Brazil), Ephydrolithusspiculatussp. nov. (Brazil), and Ephydrolithustelisp. nov. (Brazil); and Primocerusgen. nov. for Primoceruscuspidissp. nov. (Venezuela), Primocerusgigassp. nov. (Venezuela), Primocerusneutrumsp. nov. (Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela), Primocerusocellatussp. nov. (Venezuela), Primoceruspetilussp. nov. (Brazil), Primoceruspijiguaensesp. nov. (Venezuela), Primocerusmaipuresp. nov. (Venezuela), Primocerussemipubescenssp. nov. (Guyana), and Primocerusstriatolatussp. nov. (Suriname). The genus Ephydrolithusgen. nov. is currently known to be restricted to seepages in the mountainous regions of the Brazilian Shield. Aulonocharesgen. nov. and Primocerusgen. nov. are both currently only known from the Guiana Shield, though widespread in that region where they are associated with streams and seeps. We present differential diagnoses, maps, habitat details, and illustrations of all new genera and species here described.

Abstract—A synopsis of Dicliptera (Acanthaceae) for Brazil is presented. Six species are recognized: Dicliptera ciliaris, D. sexangularis, and D. squarrosa, widely distributed in South America; D. purpurascens, which ranges from the North Region of Brazil (in the state of Acre) to eastern Bolivia; D. gracilirama, a new species from the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil; and D. granchaquenha, a new species recorded in dry and semideciduous forests in Bolivia and western Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Furthermore, we propose new synonyms and designate lectotypes for eleven names. An identification key to the six accepted Dicliptera species in Brazil is provided.
