The original description of Heizmannia (Heizmannia) metallica (Leicester) from Malaysia, and specimens collected in India that were provisionally identified as Hz. metallica, were re-examined for their taxonomic status. Heizmannia metallica from Malaysia was found by Mattingly (1970) to be a junior synonym of Hz. indica (Theobald), whereas we found the specimens identified as Hz. metallica from India to differ distinctly from the holotype of Hz. metallica. We collected adults near Malabar Coast, Western Ghats which corresponded with Indian Hz. metallica sensu auctorum and here describe the previously misidentified species as Hz. (Hez.) rajagopalani n. sp. The adult male and female of the new species, and their genitalia, are described and illustrated.

Orbitolina daviesi Hofker, 1966 (family Orbitolinidae) was validly described and thoroughly illustrated from Thanetian limestones of Pakistan. Although its attribution to the genus Orbitolina d’Orbigny and any phylogenetic relationships with the Cretaceous taxa have been refuted shortly afterwards, the species has not been taxonomically revised since then. Karsella hottingeri Sirel, 1999 was established as new genus and new species from the Thanetian of Turkey, without taking into account J. Hofker’s publication. The original description and genus diagnosis of Karsella has meanwhile been emended to include the occurrence of a radial zone with septula that follow a zig-zag pattern and associated linear arrangement of the foramina, as well as a complex embryo. Orbitolina daviesi clearly displays these features and is here considered a species of the genus Karsella Sirel. Karsella hottingeri is regarded as a subjective junior synonym of O. daviesi Hofker and therefore, the only species of the genus is given as a new combination: Karsella daviesi (Hofker). From a suprageneric viewpoint, the two Paleogene genera Karsella Sirel and Cushmania Silvestri display a complex embryo and might belong to a new subfamily of the Orbitolinidae, phylogenetically different and unrelated to the lower-mid Cretaceous Orbitolininae.

The Fedrizziidae are the most diverse group of mites associated with passalid beetles in Australia. Herein, I re-diagnose the family, genera and species, and describe ten new species from Australia, Indonesia and Thailand: Fedrizzia abradoalves sp. nov., F. gilloglyi sp. nov., F. parvipilus sp. nov., Neofedrizzia bunyas sp. nov., N. gordoni sp. nov., N. helenae sp. nov., N. imparmentum sp. nov., N. janae sp. nov., N. lepas sp. nov. and N. sulawesi sp. nov. Fedrizzia strandi (Oudemans), Neofedrizzia leonilae Rosario & Hunter, Neofedrizzia tani Pope & Chernoff and Neofedrizzia vitzthumi (Oudemans) are re-described. Neofedrizzia bicornis Karg is a junior synonym of Neofedrizzia scutata Womersley, which is also transferred to Fedrizzia. Fedrizzia unospina Karg is a junior synonym of Fedrizzia carabi Womersley. Fedrizzia gloriosa Berlese is transferred to Neofedrizzia. The specimens described by Womersley as Fedrizzia sp. cf. grossipes represent specimens of Fedrizzia sellnicki Womersley. Parafedrizzia buloloensis Womersley is recorded from Australia for the first time. A key to adult male and female Fedrizziidae and a summary of host records is provided.

Type material of the described species of Ascopus Marshall, 1951, Oreosecus Marshall, 1950, Perarogula Hoffmann, 1963 and Rhadinocopes Hustache, 1931 was examined and their taxonomic status is discussed. Oreosecus Marshall, 1950 and Rhadinocopes Hustache, 1931 are proposed as junior synonyms of Tapinomorphus Hartmann, 1904, Perarogula Hoffmann, 1963 is proposed as a junior synonym of Ascopus Marshall, 1951. Rhadinocopes curvipes Hustache, 1931, R. echinatus Marshall, 1951 and Perarogula lamottei Hoffmann, 1963 are transferred as valid species to the genus Ascopus, Rhadinocopes alticola Hustache, 1939, R. orientalis Hustache, 1931 and Oreosecus porculus Marshall, 1950 are transferred as valid species to the genus Tapinomorphus. Lectotypes of Rhadinocopes orientalis Hustache, 1931 and Rhadinocopes alticola Hustache, 1939 are designated. Ascopus girardi sp. nov. from Guinea, Mt. Nimba, is described and compared with all other species of the genus. Male and female genitalia of Ascopus are described and illustrated for the first time. A key to Ascopus species is presented.

The spider genus Architis Simon, 1898 is revised, resulting in sixteen species distributed from Panama to southern Brazil, all herein diagnosed, described and illustrated. Pisaurina brasiliensis Mello-Leitão, 1940 is transferred to Architis and considered a senior synonym of A. sinops Carico, 1989. The females of A. capricorna Carico, 1981 and A. robusta Carico, 1981 are described and illustrated for the first time. Architis nitidopilosa Simon, 1898 is considered a junior synonym of A. tenuis Simon, 1898 (the type species of the genus) and A. suarez Carico, 1989 a junior synonym of A. cymatilis Carico, 1981. The remaining species, A. ikuruwa Carico, 1981; A. tenuipes (Simon, 1898) and A. helveola (Simon, 1898) are redescribed and illustrated. Architis paulistana Mello-Leitão, 1917 is synonymised with Aglaoctenus lagotis (Holmberg, 1876) (Lycosidae: Sosippinae) based on its original description and type locality. Eight new species are described: A. erwini sp. nov., based on male and female specimens from Ecuador; A. comaina sp. nov. (male and female) and A. dianasilvae sp. nov. (female only) from Peru; A. maturaca sp. nov. (male and female) and A. altamira sp. nov. (female only) from Brazilian Amazonia; A. colombo sp. nov. (male and female), A. fritzmuelleri sp. nov. (female only) and A. turvo sp. nov. (female only) from southern and southeastern Brazil.

Two new species, Prolixus nicholasi sp. nov. and Prolixus setifolius sp. nov., are described and illustrated from leaves of Gahnia setifolia (Cyperaceae) in Auckland, New Zealand. In this paper, we present the ontogenetic additions in idiosomal and the leg chaetotaxy from larva to adult. The adult male and female of P. setifolius have different leg setae, allowing all active life stages to be sexed. A key to world species of Prolixus is also proposed.

The Afrotropical species described as Trachyphloeini Lacordaire, 1863 were examined and their taxonomic status is revised. Atrachyphloeus Voss, 1962 is proposed as a junior synonym of Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842, Cathormiocerus africanus Hoffmann, 1965 as a junior synonym of Tapinomorphus sylvicola Voss, 1962 and Trachyphloeus pustulifer Voss, 1959 as a junior synonym of Platycopes tuberculatus Marshall, 1906. Atrachyphloeus convergens Voss, 1962 is transferred to the genus Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842, Trachyphloeus hardenbergi Marshall, 1923 and T. notulatus Boheman, 1842 to Glyptosomus Schoenherr, 1847, Trachyphloeus nanus Fåhraeus, 1871 to Pentatrachyphloeus Voss, 1974, Trachyphloeus pustulifer Voss, 1959 to Platycopes Schoenherr, 1823 and Trachyphloeus setiger Fåhraeus, 1871 to Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842. “Trachyphloeosoma” brevicolle Voss, 1974, “Trachyphloeus” brevis Boheman, 1842, “T”. nodifrons Hoffmann, 1968 and “T”. squalidus Boheman, 1842 are provisionally left in their current genera, but new genera for them will be described in future papers. The genus Phaylomerinthus Schoenherr, 1842 has been redefined and redescribed. In the present paper, two new species, Barsine persephone Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (N Thailand and N Vietnam), and Barsine asotoida Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (SW China and N Myanmar) are described. A new combination is established: Barsine specialis (Fang, 1991), comb. nov. Both new species belong to the Barsine prominens (Moore, 1878) species-group, and, as well as B. specialis have unusual for the genus dark brown forewing coloration. Adult, male and female genitalia are illustrated.

The Barsine zebrina species-complex is revised. Three new species, Barsine subzebrina Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (Nepal, NE India, N Myanmar), Barsine bucseki Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (Malay Peninsula) and Barsine navneetsinghi Volynkin & Černý, sp. nov. (NE India and N Myanmar) are described. A new combination is established: Barsine zebrina (Moore, 1878), comb. nov. The Ctenistini fauna of China is insufficient documented. In this paper the first Chinese species of the genus Ctenisomorphus Raffray, 1890, C. yinggelingensis sp. nov., is described and separated from congeners based on two male and four female specimens collected at Yinggeling Natural Reserve, Hainan Island, southern China. Images of the habitus and major diagnostic characters of the new species are provided. The taxonomic status of Largeyeus anhuianus J.-K. Li, 1993 distributed in Anhui, eastern China is discussed, and the genus is placed as a junior synonym of Poroderus Sharp, 1883 syn. nov., resulting in P. anhuianus comb. nov.
