Although this article should not be considered a research article, its content is based almost entirely on research into responsible environmental behavior. It looks at instructional practice in environmental education and some of the flaws associated with it. The research that guides successful curriculum development and instruction is briefly discussed, and inferences flowing from that research are stated and described. The article then describes what the author believes to be the critical educational components that must be in place if receivers are to become lifelong responsible decision makers in society. Following this is a discussion of what an instructional program would look like that can be predicted to lead to responsible citizenship action regarding important environmental issues.

This study was conducted using variety of data sources; observation, interview, questionnaire and test. Based on the data analyses descriptively and the discussion result, it was known that the ability of the lecturer to manage the learning activities for each category was good. Then, the implementation of environmental education program can promote three categories of responsible environmental behaviors of students. Moreover, the environmental education implemented in the current research has positive impact on students’ cognitive learning outcomes of environmental knowledge subject, especially the strategies for sustainable development topic, based on the UNESA grade standard.

The university is an essential participant in education, a key place where societal change processes are developed. So, it must be a place to bring up current challenges and social requirements. That is the reason why it holds the responsibility to assure the creation of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in the students to achieve an effective solution to environmental issues. The objective of this research was the assessment of the attitudes, knowledge, and pro-environmental behavior in university students from different faculties, studies, and degrees, as well as their influence in this group. The results show that most of the students have previous concepts of environment, and they consider that a good environmental education is necessary to solve the environmental issues that they have around. This proves that key factors in attitudes become essential elements for changing them. The differences made by gender and studies in several fields in attitudes (cognitive and emotional levels) are also confirmed.

The current environmental education and research are scattered in different disciplines of studies, notably science, engineering, management, economics, politics, and law. This leads to some problems, such as the lack of sufficient understanding of other fields, narrow perspectives towards environmental issues and ill-informed decisions of different branches of the government, and the teaching of one field of the environmental studies based on a false, distorted, or outdated understanding of other fields. Restructuring course curriculum, multi-disciplinary research, and recruitment of college graduates from other fields of study are some of the suggestions.

There has been increasing interest in coastal tourism, sparking a debate on the responsible environmental behavior of travelers visiting sustainable destinations. To mitigate this issue, destination marketing organizations (DMOs) and environmental activists are trying to develop strategic approaches (i.e., by using digital technologies) to enhance the sustainable behavior of travelers. Environmental responsiveness and its impact on sustainable destinations is gaining attention by companies, scholars, and institutions. However, the relevant literature has not addressed social media user-generated content regarding sustainable destinations. Sharing stakeholder knowledge, activities, and experience on social media could accomplish this goal. Hence, this paper aims to explore travelers′ responsible environmental behavior towards coastal tourism within the social media user-generated content paradigm. To measure the effect of user-generated content (UGC), i.e., cognitive triggers and affective triggers, on the responsible environmental behavior of travelers, a survey questionnaire was used to collect data (n = 506) from the world’s longest sandy sea beach, Cox’s Bazar, located in the Southern part of Bangladesh. The data were examined by structural equation modeling (SEM). The results revealed that cognitive and affective triggers of user-generated content influence travelers’ environmental concerns and attitudes, making a significant contribution to shaping responsible environmental behavior. Additionally, the findings show that environmental concerns and attitudes play a significant role in producing commitment towards a sustainable coastal tourism practice. This study contributes to the effectiveness of user-generated content for persuasive interactions with destination marketing organizations to develop sustainable tourism practices.
