Compensation refers to the fact that a group perceived as higher than another on one of the fundamental dimensions of social judgment (competence and warmth) is also perceived as lower than the other group on the other dimension. Relying on a full-crossed design, the present work tested compensation in a real-life situation using existing groups involved in an ongoing relation. As predicted, compensation emerged when (a) the difference between the groups, and thus the perceived legitimacy of the status difference, was large as opposed to small, and (b) the relation between the groups was asymmetrical. In contrast, the smaller the difference (the lesser the legitimacy), the more ingroup bias emerged.

In modern psychological literature, the term “awareness” is largely undefined. All possible philological epithets are applied to it. This is and understanding, and recognition, and clarification, and discretion, etc. These epithets are not concepts that would reflect the essence of the phenomenon, its mechanism, but rather interchangeable terms of everyday language, reflecting the procedural aspect of consciousness. One of the evidence of the conceptual lack of development of the term “awareness” is the fact that it is completely absent in well-known psychoanalytic dictionaries. In philosophical and general psychological dictionaries, it is given an extremely vague meaning. Despite the widespread use of it, the question does not lose its acuteness: what exactly is the awareness of the unconscious, how does it unfold, and in what terms can we recreate the mechanism of its construction? If we generalize the understanding of awareness, which is implied by various psychoanalytically oriented authors, then it can be reduced to the following definitions. First, awareness is the process of verbalization of unconscious personal meanings and their integration into consciousness. Second, awareness is the thinking aimed at summarizing the disparate elements of experience and combining them into a holistic structure that gives the experience internal coherence and causal validity. Two designated definitions of awareness are associated with two ontological dimensions of dialogue: a) “I am for Myself”; b) "I am for the Other." If we break into two independent parts the dialogical unit of «I for Myself» / «I for the Other», then it turns out that awareness in its phenomenological aspect naturalizes and loses the constructive-analytical element, which, in turn, being placed on the pole of the Other, is alienated from the living phenomenological basis personal experience, as a result of which the identity of the conscious is deprived of “free self-revelation”. Our point of view, the indicated gap is bridged within the framework of the cultural-activity methodology, in the context of which awareness can be viewed as a reflective activity developing in the dialogue that constructs life meanings, indirectly by key-symbolic formations. Based on this theoretical position and analysis of empirical material that reflects the process of dream analysis during psychological counseling, a reconstruction of the mechanism of awareness is carried out. It consists in replacing the real life situation with its key-symbolic referents, the operation of which allows to generalize and separate the life meaning of the situation from the life situation itself and indirectly by the transcendental position of the Other (in the common sense), to transfer the meaning extracted from the dream to the life situation, using it as a means critical reevaluation of the existing structure of life meanings and the construction of a new structure, presented in the form of a matrix of rational action (new conscious a way of building relationships with oneself and the outside world).

Victimogenic situation is a private variety of criminogenic situation where one of the main actors of the criminal drama, along with a perpetrator, is a specific victim of the crime, though being not merely a target of the crime, but the person who, thanks to his/her behaviour and particular personal characteristics, objectively contributes to the commission of the crime against himself/herself. The study of a victimogenic situation and appropriate prevention must be based on a consistent methodology, according to which an individual criminal behaviour arises from the interaction of personality (individual) and a particular real-life situation. A victim in the victimogenic situation is almost as active as the perpetrator. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the specific nature of the circumstances in this strange tandem of “perpetrator-victim”, which characterises the personality and behaviour of the offender, on the one hand and the personality and behaviour of the victim, on the other hand.

This article analyzes Abhi Subedi's play, Agniko Katha, from a feminist perspective. Feminist critics blame that the classics of literature are partly responsible for creating and perpetuating the myth about 'eternal feminine.' They claim that there are only two images available for women in patriarchal literature. One is the image of a virtuous passive woman and the other is the promiscuous selfish woman. The author of such literary texts rewards the virtuous woman whereas they punish the promiscuous one. Feminists argue that the underlying message of this method is: if a woman wants to survive in patriarchy she must act feminine. This effects women in their real life situation for they tend to perform feminine gender roles though they are disadvantageous to them. Thus, they protest the stereotype depiction of female characters in literary and other cultural texts. The article argues that Subedi defies the traditional notion of femininity and creates new roles for his female characters. The protagonist of the play denies to play her assigned feminine role and searches for a new role for her. She questions and protests the patriarchal gender roles which are bias against women. Thus, it is relevant to explore the feminist voice in the text. The finding of the article suggests that women, too, have the potentiality to create new roles for themselves and bring change into society.

ABSTRACT Since OSRL was established in 1985, one of the key objectives of the organization has been to try and build relationships with member companies’ response teams to ensure that when the time comes to work together in a spill situation a team approach to the problem is possible. Since 1985, the Texaco Response Team has trained and exercised with OSRL annually, forging strong relationships and an understanding of the roles to be adopted in an incident. In the same time period, OSRL has been involved in the devlopment and testing of the Texaco Pembroke contingency plan and the planning and execution of response exercises in the Milford Haven area. The system was tested in 1995 following the grounding of the Borga in the entrance to Milford Haven. Fortunately no oil was spilled on this occasion, but the teams worked together and the logistics of a response in Wales were exercised. The real test came on February 15, 1996, with the grounding of the Sea Empress. Would all the preparation make a difference in the response? The case study shows the benefit of good contingency planning by the facility and integration of the response teams in a real-life situation, which may make the difference between success or failure.
