This study identifies the main factors influencing turnover among convenience store employees from a managerial perspective and infers the changes necessary to reduce such high turnover rates. Employing the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) methodology, it investigates the degree of mutual influence between evaluation indicators and constructs a network relation map for evaluation dimensions and criteria. This study also uses the DEMATEL-based analytic network process method to compute the influential weights of each dimension and criteria. According to the empirical results of the causality model, convenience store employees must first improve the relatedness dimension, and managers must first improve the existence dimension. These findings can help convenience store managers address talent retention and turnover problems, develop effective strategies to lower the high turnover rates at convenience stores, and offer solutions to new industry entrants to avoid potential problems that might lead to early exit.

Trust is regarded as a critical feature and a central mechanism in business transactions, especially in the Chinese guanxi network. In this context, the major objective of this research is to explore the key factors influencing trust in different stages of a construction project from the perspectives of owners and consultants involved in a Sino-German eco-park in China. The analytic network process (ANP) was employed to assess which factors are most closely related to trust and to establish four models to meet the objective of this study. According to the ANP results, trust is strongly influenced by factors that are associated with the mutual interests between owners and consultants. In addition, there are certain differences in the priority of the factors influencing initial trust between owners and consultants, but these gaps gradually decrease over time. The weight of guanxi also decreases over time, and the owners’ and consultants’ guanxi transforms from out-group to in-group focused.

Abstract Background: Long-term shortages in the nursing workforce and high turnover rates are common in Taiwan medical industry. Little research has investigated the psychological factors associated with retention of nursing staff. However, in practice, religious hospitals often provide education in medicine or the medical humanities to enhance psychological satisfaction. The objective of this study was to explore factors influencing nursing staff’s retention with their work across different levels of demand. A further objective was to investigate whether medical humanities educations were associated with the retention of nursing staff. Methods: This study used self-administrated questionnaires to survey nurses working in northern areas of Taiwan. The questionnaire design was based on the six levels of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Participation was voluntary and participants signed informed consent documents. Self-administrated questionnaires were administered by contacting a total of 759 participants; 729 questionnaires were returned (response rate 96.04%). A logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the impact of seniority of nursing work on nurses reported intention to stay after adjusting for nurse characteristics (gender and age). Results: In the Pearson correlation analysis, nurses’ willingness to stay was moderately correlated with “physical needs”, “safety needs”, “love and belonging needs”, and “esteem needs” (r=0.559, P<0.001; r=0.533, P<0.001; r=0.393, P<0.001; r=0.476, P<0.001, respectively). Furthermore, nurses’ willingness to stay was highly correlated with “self-actualization needs”, “behind self-actualization needs” and “medical humanities education relevant” (r=0.707, P<0.001; r=0.728, P<0.001; r=0.678, P<0.001, respectively). We found that the odds ratio (OR) of retention of nursing staff who worked within 1 year (OR=4.511, P=0.002) and 1-3 years (OR=3.248, P=0.003) was significantly higher referred to those who worked 5-10 years. Conclusions: With regard to medical humanities education, we recommend adjusting the training as the compulsory activities under the official programs are inadequate and adjusting the required hours of medical humanities education. Tailoring different educational programs for different groups (especially for the groups of nurses who have worked 3-5 years and 5-10 years in the case study hospital) might improve acceptance by nursing staff.

Nowadays, it is obvious that creative tourism industry has become very essential for countries and societies; therefore, governments work on constituting policies in order to develop this industry. To be successful in improving creative tourism industry, governments should identify the influential factors and focus on ones that are more important rather than investing a bit on many different factors. Because of the interrelations among factors, this research is aiming to prioritize factors that influence strategic policies of creative tourism industry in Iran using analytic network process (ANP). Data were collected during the period of May 2017 to February 2018. Participants in this research are 13 tourism experts with more than 10 years' experience in the field. Results show that the most influential criterion is "business support" and the most influential subcriterion is "supporting midsize businesses." This study helps policy makers to improve creative tourism by emphasizing on those factors that have high priority from the viewpoint of strategic policy-making.

Abstract This paper presents an overview of techniques utilizing natural phytoplankton for the detection of metal-Induced stress in the Great Lakes. Both field and laboratory procedures are designed to evaluate either structural changes or functional response of test organisms. This up-to-date compendium provides a choice of techniques, which permits a holistic assessment of the stress caused by toxic metals. Recently introduced techniques, such as normalized size spectra analysis, flow cytometry, and the evaluation of a continuous-flow system response to metal toxicity, are discussed in more detail to explore their future potential. Owing to their key position in the food web, high turnover rates, abundance, and sensitivity to environmental perturbation, phytoplankton serve as reliable early warning indicators of ecosystem deterioration and its restoration.
