The Recognition of Business Opportunity in Female Entrepreneurship: State of Play in a Tunisian Context

The objective of this research is to formulate an analytical framework to identify the determinants of business opportunities in the field of female entrepreneurship based on a triple perspective: subjectivist, objectivist and constructive. More specifically, we will try to develop a research model that identifies the factors influencing the process of recognising business opportunities in women’s entrepreneurship in the Tunisian context. This work is exploratory, and we have adopted a qualitative approach through semi-directive interviews addressed to 12 Tunisian women entrepreneurs.

<p>The main aim of this study is to identify the barriers and enablers to Malaysian women’s entrepreneurship. A mixed method was used in this study. A qualitative approach using Delphi technique was used to obtain consensus on the barriers and enablers. This was incorporated into a questionnaire which was used in the survey of women entrepreneurs to obtain quantitative data on the barriers and enablers to women’s entrepreneurship. The respondents were 130 participants of a seminar for women entrepreneurs conducted by the Women’s Development Department of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community. The study found that the three top barriers were the lack of KSAOs followed by restrictive legalities, regulations and procedures and lack of business support and network. Personality and self-efficacy emerged as the most important enabler followed by support for businesses from government and women focused initiatives from government and NGOs.<strong></strong></p>

In modern society, women's entrepreneurship has a special role. Woman entrepreneur is the bearer of new thinking, philosophy and lifestyle, values and morality. The female factor is aggressively breaking into the modern picture of the world, demanding a rethinking of the ultimate foundations of a new civilization. The study was based on the analysis of scientific literature on the formation and development of female entrepreneurship, the survey of women involved in entrepreneurial activities, the analysis of statistical reporting. The motives of women’s participation in business are analyzed. The structure of the motives of small business is proposed and the features of the motivations of women entrepreneurs are highlighted. The study identified the types of women entrepreneurs. The article shows the development trends of women’s entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan and identified the problems of its development.

Women’s entrepreneurship has taken its position in the sphere of entrepreneurship research as well as in the business world. Several features and attributes characterize and distinguish women entrepreneurs across countries. This paper aims at identifying and discerning the various factors influencing the entrepreneurial career of Tunisian women entrepreneurs and the impediments they face. For this, a qualitative exploratory study was conducted with a sample of 23 women entrepreneurs in Tunisia. This study shows the existence of several factors spurring the entrepreneurial career of the women entrepreneurs, including personal, social and environmental factors as well as following obstacles.

The present study aims to identify how the process of interorganizational knowledge sharing contributes to women’s entrepreneurship in the south of Santa Catarina State. A descriptive and exploratory methodological procedure with qualitative approach was carried, through a field research carried out with the associated women entrepreneurs of the State Council of Woman Entrepreneurs (CEME). The interorganizational knowledge sharing happens during meetings and events held by the CEME and in the Centers, as well as during interactions and informal dialogues among the participants, when tacit knowledge sharing occurs. Knowledge sharing causes organizational learning and contributes to the entrepreneurship of women participating on these events as following: (1) increase in knowledge; (2) creation of unity and connections; (3) information exchange; (4) motivation; (5) personal improvement; (6) employee development; (7) promotion of necessary changes and (8) networking.

Environmental demanding situations require businesses to innovative as a way to gain each environmental, economic and social goals. This article objectives to suggest the elements influencing improvement of green female entrepreneurship thinking about the improvement possibilities thru standardization and gender equality inherent within side the green economy. Using the methods of regression evaluation with the aggregate of Likert's scale approach, 226 woman entrepreneurs from Serbia in 2021 have been involved in the research. The findings display female entrepreneurship however also, that there may be inadequate interest been committed to them within side the procedure of greening their enterprise in green economy support measures for small and medium companies.

Women's entrepreneurship has been relevant for several years in the MENA region. It has been recognized as a lever for economic and social growth as well as a tool for job creation attracting more and more theorists and researchers from across the globe. In this particularly buoyant context, the goal of our research paper is to identify the factors influencing the motivation of women entrepreneurs in this region on the assumption that socio-cultural and individual factors are at the heart of women's entrepreneurship in the MENA region. The answers are supported through a qualitative study based on the empirical results of a survey of 45 innovative entrepreneurs from 10 different countries between 2017 and 2020 and based on an in-depth literature review.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on women’s entrepreneurship and internationalization in order to build an understanding about future trends. There is increasing interest in the role of women in entrepreneurship yet little research has been conducted about the link to internationalization patterns. Design/methodology/approach The literature is reviewed based on a systematic analysis of the words women, female, gender and internationalization. Findings Three main schools of thought around women’s entrepreneurship and internationalization (philosophy, management and motivations) are then discussed. The analysis of literature and classification into main theories enables the building of new research around women’s entrepreneurship and internationalization. Originality/value There is a pipeline of women intending to become entrepreneurs so this paper helps to understand how women entrepreneurs influence internationalization patterns and how to help support women in their business endeavors.

Analyses of the diversity of women entrepreneurs and their enterprises, using novel approaches and theoretical viewpoints, is lacking in contemporary scholarship. Accordingly, this article reviews and critiques five articles that constitute this Special Issue (SI) focused on exploring the diversity of women’s entrepreneurship. The authors acknowledge that entrepreneurship is a rich and multi-coloured tapestry, hence, these SI articles highlight the complexities of women entrepreneurs and celebrate their diversity through signposting towards research conceptualisations that reflect the actual rather than the assumed status quo. The article contributes to extant scholarship by platforming the heterogeneity of women’s entrepreneurial endeavours, supporting the view that in terms of supporting women’s entrepreneurship, ‘one size (still) does not fit all’. We also propose a framework to help future scholars strengthen the quality and relevance of their research on women entrepreneurs along four key dimensions: influence of context; theoretical development; multiplicity of dimensions; and heterogeneity.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to direct attention to recent research on women’s entrepreneurship with a focus on university education. A literature review and a summary of authors’ selected papers provide both a context for and an introduction to the articles in this special issue. Design/methodology/approach – This introduction provides an overview of the literature on female entrepreneurship with specific reference to the context of university education. Searches on Web of Science and in this journal were conducted to provide a systematic overview of the area of research. This introductory article ends with a set of propositions for future research engagement. Findings – This paper finds that the quantum of past research endeavours remains limited despite the growing significance of the subject. This paper also finds that developing a focused approach that is based on a female ontology of entrepreneurship, and one that identifies specific contexts, and appropriate methodological considerations that enable enquiry at different levels, are of value to future research. This paper offers four different propositions that address key areas or fields of entrepreneurship research. Research limitations/implications – This paper provides a unique set of propositions together with a framework which helps to both explore new knowledge creation and locate new research within the main fields of entrepreneurship while providing room for extending those fields. Practical implications – This overview provides a framework for universities and policymakers to enable them to take into consideration the critical issues of entrepreneurship in general, and female entrepreneurship in particular, when developing programmes and tools for university education. Originality/value – This paper provides a summary of the trends in research on women’s entrepreneurship with reference to university education. This leads to the development of a set of propositions and a framework for identifying and exploring new research questions that need to be addressed to close important research gaps in the field of entrepreneurship.

Purpose – This paper aims to analyze how surviving norms from the Soviet time continue to shape women’s entrepreneurship in contemporary Russia. Design/methodology/approach – The empirical data are based on observations and qualitative interviews in two Russian regions in 2002-2014 and also to a part on a survey from one of the regions. The analytical framework is based on Douglass North’s (1990) categorization of four main kinds of institutions which influence the way a society develops: legal rules, organization forms, enforcement and behavioural norms. Findings – The analysis shows that it is important to incorporate norms connected to women’s societal roles to the institutional theory. The survival of norms might in fact imply that women’s entrepreneurship tends to conserve the ways the system works, rather than to contributing to changing it. Although the survival of such norms tends to prevent changes, the possibility to start private businesses, on the other hand, opened up new ways for women to fulfill their different societal responsibilities. Originality/value – The paper is based on unique empirical data including some 200 interviews and observations from regular field trips to villages and small towns in Russia since the early 2000s.
