BACKGROUND: Drug-related crime has multiple characteristics. Criminal offences committed to acquire drugs represent a significant part of drug-related crime. This article presents detailed results of a study performed by the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Addiction in cooperation with the National Drug Headquarters and the Police Praesidium of the Czech Republic in 2018. AIMS: The aims of the study were to estimate the range of criminal offences committed by drug users attempting to obtain funds for purchasing drugs for personal consumption and provide insights into the structure of this group of crimes. METHODS: The study was designed as a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. The respondents were police officers working in regional departments. Data was collected through a 42-item questionnaire. The estimate was related to 2017. SAMPLE: A total of 80 district and city police headquarters were contacted, 78 of which completed the questionnaire. RESULTS: In 2017, drug users committed an estimated 46,300 criminal offences in order to acquire funds for drugs for personal use, which represented 23% of all the crimes registered in that year. Converted to cleared-up offences, an estimated 14,400 crimes (i.e. 15% of cleared-up criminal offences) were committed by drug users. The most frequent offences included simple theft, burglary, and the manufacturing, distributing, and other unauthorized handling of drugs. The highest proportion of offences committed by drug users was estimated for the manufacturing, distributing, and other unauthorized handling of drugs, simple theft, unauthorized possession of payment instruments, and burglary. CONCLUSIONS: Despite the limitations of the methodological framework, the study provided valuable insights into the incidence of drug-related crime in the Czech Republic, as this data is not collected in any existing data collection system. The results suggest that drug-related crime represents a significant share of the total registered crime and special attention should be paid to this problem. At the same time, in interpreting the results, the identified drawbacks and limited scope of the study need to be borne in mind. Therefore particular effort should be invested in the improvement of data collection in this area.

Minibreweries are a specific group on the Czech beer market and they communicate with their customers mostly via their product – the beer. Their main asset is uniqueness and locality. Presentation of these breweries is mostly realized by financially less difficult methods. The present text deals with the problems of marketing communication of minibreweries with respect to the techniques used. Data collection was performed via electronic questionnaire in January 2017. The researched sample consisted of 350 minibreweries as of 31st December 2016. Recoverability of the questionnaires was 41% (145 minibreweries). The aim of the research was to find out, with the help of descriptive statistic methods, which marketing tools are used by minibreweries. The results confirm that, for marketing communication, minibreweries use mostly low-cost techniques such as own web pages, which are used by 90% of the researched minibreweries, social sites by 84% of respondents, and through the renown of the minibrewery by 80% of respondents. Furthermore there are tools to be used to differentiate the product, such as labels (in 90% of respondents), glasses and beer coasters (in 85% of respondents), the least used kind of these tools being the advertisement in the national broadcast transmission (in 4% of respondents) and in the news (in 8% of respondents).

BACKGROUND: A number of studies show that an intensification of the policing of illicit drug markets impacts on public health. The impacts are largely seen as negative. AIMS: The aim of this article is to describe the basic characteristics of available data and data collection of selected indicators and to review the aspects related to data collection and its context that might influence the selected public health time series in the Czech Republic. The secondary aim is to provide recommendations for future data collection in the Czech public health statistics. METHODS: This work is based on research of the specialised databases, reviewing reports published by relevant institutions and additional and selective literature and grey zone materials search. RESULTS: The article provides a review of the basic data collection characteristics and identifies different aspects of data collection and its context that have the potential to influence the time series of selected indicators in three different areas: a) treatment entrants, b) non-fatal and fatal intoxications, and c) infectious diseases. CONCLUSIONS: The review may assist and facilitate informed analysis and interpretation of drug-related law enforcement indicators individually or in combination with other indicators, using time series analysis as well as comparative approaches.

This article presents the theoretical underpinnings, design, methods, and measures of the project, Caught in the Act of Protest: Contextualizing Contestation. This effort examines street demonstrations that vary in atmosphere, organization, and target. The project particularly focuses on participants, exploring who participates, and why and how people got involved. Data are collected before, during, and after a number of demonstrations, and captures the entire "demonstration moment." We develop standardized measures and techniques for sampling and data collection at the individual demonstrator level and at the contexual level. Evidence was gathered not only from the demonstrators but also from police, organizers, and the mass media. Data-gathering efforts were standardized through identical methods, questionnaires, fact sheets, and content analysis protocols. The CCC project examines demonstrations in Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden between 2009 and 2012. Teams from Italy, Mexico, and the Czech Republic joined the project at a later stage. The project has covered 61 demonstrations and 12,993 questionnaires have been completed to date.

The aim of the research was to find out what approach the companies in the Czech Republic are taking to the risk management process in logistics projects. The article briefly introduces theoretical foundations with an emphasis on risk management. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire survey in the first quarter of 2019. The conclusion of the questionnaire survey clearly shows that most companies in the Czech Republic implement the risk management process themselves using their employees and do not use external workers. The smaller majority of these companies have a single person and do not have the need to have multiple workers for risk management.

The paper deals with the implementation of diversity management in the Czech and Slovak organizations. The aim of the research was to find out how the concept of diversity management is accepted and applied in the Czech and Slovak companies. The scale questionnaire of the author's own construction was used for data collection. The questionnaire contained apart from the introductory classification items 25 items divided into three thematic areas: the field of inclusion and justice, the field of diversity management implementation and the field of benefits resulting from implementing diversity management. The statistically significant differences and dependencies that emerged among items in the questionnaire were examined by Kruskal-Wallis test and other statistical methods. The research survey revealed that respondents’ answers were significantly affected by factors such as the seat of the company and the working position of the respondent. The respondents from the Slovak Republic generally perceive issue of diversity management more positively compared with respondents from the Czech Republic. Also the managers perceive issue of diversity management more positively compared with employees. The research survey identified partially the existing state of implementing the concept of diversity management in organizations in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
