This article shows that the deployment of modern high-tech companies in the regions affects the development of smart cities. In particular, it was noted that high-tech companies not only create high-tech products, but also are an example of optimization of management processes, economical consumption of various types of resources, and also serve as one of the factors for the accumulation of intellectual capital and the quality of life of the population in the regions. It is shown that modern advanced technologies of a smart city affect not only the social aspects of the region’s development, serve to improve its legislative, managerial and social foundations, but also encourage megacities to solve the problems of efficient use of the environment.

Our global society is encountering different challenges of the twentyfirst century. Our cities are in the process of constant transformation influenced by urbanisation, globalisation, advanced technologies, environmental and ecological changes, social, political and economic crises. While corporative capitalism has flourished, world population is growing and our cities are sprawling, architecture is reaching almost utopian visions and the boundaries of aesthetics are becoming more and more loose and permeable. Today our contemporary society lives and acts aesthetically. From art, architecture, music, religion, politics, communication, technological gadgets, homes, gardens, clothes, cuisine to sport and life coaching, everything is a subject to aesthetical consideration. Aesthetical consideration of architecture and urbanism in a constantly changing world demands critical and interactive approaches, that will not only deal with theoretical aesthetic opinions, but also the practical ones. Accordingly, this paper seeks to discuss aesthetical problems of contemporary architecture and urban planning from global, environmental, technological and social points of view. Nature is no longer seen as a paradigmatic object of aesthetic experience, but as our unique collective environment upon which we humans depend. Therefore architecture emerges etic and aesthetic approaches in order to reconsider burden of our cities and possible ways of their future development.

Building Smart City management concepts is based on the implementation and use of advanced technologies. The primary impulse for writing the article was the ambition to identify the current advanced technologies of Smart City management. The aim of the article is to propose a general model for the implementation of advanced technologies for Smart City management, based on the knowledge gained from the analysis of literature and case studies. In order to fulfill the set goal, it is necessary to obtain answers to two research questions. The findings were obtained through a secondary analysis of the literature, i.e., relevant articles from the scientific databases Web of Science and Scopus analysis of case studies of the best Smart Cities practices. According to the Smart City Index 2020 and IESE Cities in Motion, the leaders among the Smart Cities are Singapore and London, followed by Helsinki. In addition to the analyses, the article also uses methods of summarization, comparison, creativity, logic, induction and deduction. Smart Cities use 12 identified advanced technologies in their practice. Strategic management in Singapore, London and Helsinki adapts technology to the needs and requirements of its citizens, thus connecting the technological aspect with the managerial and social aspects. The contributions of the work include results for fellow researchers and a model for strategic management of new Smart Cities. The results of the article provide fellow researchers with the findings of a secondary analysis of relevant articles, from which they can draw when writing their own publications without the need for time-consuming search of the articles about this topic in databases. The general model of implementation of advanced technologies serves as a basis for strategic management of new Smart Cities that want to implement a technological base and at the same time do not want to forget the managerial and social aspects. Testing the model in practice with a new Slovak Smart City is part of future research activities.

Abstract. Pandemics have always shaped cities throughout history, and numerous health challenges have been reflected in architecture and urban design. Today, the globe is dealing with a COVID-19 pandemic, which is maybe the worst in history. Coronavirus (COVID-19)sparks a critical debate about how to use smart technology's concepts and insights to urban planning and architecture. As a result of the recent pandemic, this commentary sheds light on considerations and challenges in the area of knowledge in these fields. As a result, it is now more vital than ever for policymakers at the local, regional, and national levels to begin developing smart city and Internet of Things plans. The Smart Cities Mission is a government-led project to promote economic growth and development across four strategic planning pillars: city improvement, city rehabilitation, city extension (Greenfield development), and pan-city development. This study discusses numerous obstacles and constraints in three categories: technical, socioeconomic, and environmental. This paper intends to investigate the feasibility of applying technology in an existing city and transforming it into a smart city using the most advanced technologies, as well as smart strategies and automated judgments; the research uses the 10th of Ramadan city as a case study. In addition, the predicted outcome of this article is the implementation of smart city policies as a best practise for the COVID-19 pandemic in Egypt. Finally, it is predicted that more cities would use technology into their strategy in the future.

Generally, in smart cities, a group of sensing devices, cameras, data centers will exist that enables the civilian administrators to offer needed services in a rapid and efficient way. The effective usage of advanced technologies assists to the creation of intelligent transportation, smart healthcare, smart buildings, and so on. In case of smart building, holds the nature of gathering rainwater for future system, smart control, the probable enhancements allowed by the sensing technologies is high. The ubiquitous sensing offers various limitations which are technical or social in nature. In this chapter, an explanation of the different concepts involved to the topic of sensing in smart cities is provided. This chapter comprises a brief history, sensing platform, sensing technologies, challenges and its applications in a broader view. At the end of this chapter, it will enable the readers to clearly understand the concept of advanced sensing technologies in smart cities.
