With the development of the times, undergraduate colleges and universities begin to transform and develop to adapt to the changing society, and put forward new requirements for practical teaching strategies, especially for applied undergraduate colleges. The reform of practical teaching is particularly important. Under the development of education transformation, the reform of mechanical design and manufacture and the practice teaching of automation specialty also occupy a very important position. Through the understanding of the reform of the practical teaching of this specialty, the effect of the reform is observed, and a reasonable teaching scheme is put forward to promote the steps of the transformation of the practical teaching.

Based on the strong characteristics of comprehensiveness and practicality of the Mechatronics Control Engineering Class, a PBL based “One main line, Two links, Three practical points” teaching mode and methodology has been formed in 7-year exploring and practicing and has been applied in the teaching reform in mechatronics control engineering class at Beihang University. By implementing the method, excellent results have been gained and the teaching task has been accomplished well. It meets the requirement of cultivating innovative talents for the current social development and is worthwhile to be extended widely.

Mechanical CAD/CAM technology is an important course for the mechanical design and manufacturing major. Its scope has a wide teaching content and discipline span, and is regarded a comprehensive course with strong theoretical and practical characteristics. Theoretical teaching was emphasized in the past to undervalue software operation. Unpractical teaching content directly resulted in student’s insufficient practice after the course. Thus, teaching reform measures were proposed, such as optimizing teaching contents, implementing modular teaching, introducing skill-based software, and formulating typical work tasks. Combined with theoretical knowledge, students used the software as a tool to accomplish designated tasks and reach corresponding teaching objectives. Taking mouse punch as an example, MasterCAM software was used to introduce the specific mode of task-oriented teaching in CAD/CAM experiments. Results show that students improve their abilities of applying CAD/CAM software after the course’s teaching reform. Practical engineering problems are analyzed thoroughly and orderly. Employment quantity and quality of graduates are significantly improved to gain praises from enterprises and achieve a remarkable teaching effect.

Theory of Machines and Mechanism as a major technology foundation course of mechanical engineering plays an important role in connecting professional education. From the perspective of inspiring mechanical design thinking, put forward the idea of classroom teaching reform for the curriculum. The knowledge of the curriculum is combed; the target ability of the curriculum is specified; the teaching plans are designed to inspire design thinking; the teaching mode is reformed, and the extracurricular learning mode is enhanced. This paper provides a reference for the classroom teaching reform in the other mechanical course.
