China is under great pressure to make a legally binding commitment to reduce GHGs emissions under the upcoming agreement to be reached through UNFCCC talks in 2015. China will move toward a new era in addressing climate change. Against this background, the new regime for international climate governance is undergoing profound changes, manifested in economic development, GHGs emissions, and international cooperation. In the meantime, the domestic response to climate change will get deeper and more closely linked with environmental protection and ecological governance, covering the fog and haze control, GHGs reduction in industrial sectors, and short-lived climate pollutants control. In the view that climate change adaptation and mitigation, to some extent, facilitates environmental protection, and vice versa, adequate attention and recognition should be given to co-control of GHGs and local pollutants.

Abstract With the development of economy and the progress of science and technology, Internet economy rises rapidly. As a result, people’s environmental behavior and environmental protection concept can be greatly changed.Among these changes, the environmental protection situation of college students under the Otaku economy is the most typical. This paper studies the influence of college students on the environment from two aspects: the daily consumption behavior of college students’ Otaku economy and the concept of environmental protection of college students. The relevant data and conclusions can let us make better suggestions. This can not only promote the innovation of environmental protection in the new era, but also provide some case materials for the research on the changes of environmental protection in the era of Otaku economy. In this paper, questionnaire survey and field interview are used to obtain basic information, and data analysis and processing are used. Finally, the specific impact of College Students’ consumption habits and environmental protection ideas on the environment is obtained, and relevant conclusions and suggestions are drawn.

In the context of the new era, low-carbon environmental protection has become a fashion, and the concept of low-carbon has gradually become popular. This article starts from the research direction of product design, integrates the low-carbon concept into product design, and analyzes the problems in product design in China from the four stages of production, use, storage, transportation and recycling. In order to solve these problems, the guiding methods of product design under the low-carbon concept are given from the aspects of technology, materials, structure, and recycling, further demonstrate that the low-carbon concept promotes the development of product design.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the integration of ecological civilization construction with the development of economy, politics, culture, and society has not only been an established strategy of deepening and consolidating the “five-sphere integrated plan” of socialism with Chinese characteristics, but it has also been an important approach to achieve ecological civilization. In order to realize it, “integration” is the living soul. Integration means that on one hand, ecological civilization construction should be in step with economic and social development; on the other hand, it is inherent with the strategic thinking that priority should be given to ecology and environmental protection. This paper explains how ecological civilization construction is integrated with economic development and also discusses its strategies and paths. The findings are as follows: The first is to cling to the bottom line that no major ecological disasters should happen. This requires adherence to the basic state policy of environmental protection, restructuring of conventional industries and transformation of development patterns. The second is to adhere to the philosophy that industrialization, urbanization, informatization, agricultural modernization and greenization be promoted simultaneously, so that they can complement with the “five-sphere integrated plan”. This requires that a green, low carbon, and recyclable path should be pursued. The third is to stay open and forward-looking. In the new era of ecological civilization with new fashion and trends, active measures should be taken to build a modern ecological and industrial development system in order to lay a solid foundation for ecological civilization construction.

ABSTRACTThe Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP) was established under the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty to advise the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM) on matters relating to protection of the Antarctic environment. After almost a decade of work, the committee has consolidated itself as a highly relevant and important component of the Antarctic Treaty system. Through a detailed analysis of meeting reports, as well as first-hand information and experience, this study describes the activities of the CEP during its first nine years of operation, provides likely explanations for some trends observed and proposes future scenarios by highlighting major challenges and opportunities. In particular, the instigation of strategic planning shows potential for launching a new era of CEP activities focused on the environmental issues requiring the greatest attention. This overview will assist readers to understand the role of the CEP as the main environmental advisor to the ATCM, and the reasons for the Antarctic Treaty parties to support the Committee's work to foster a spirit of cooperation as a prerequisite for continuing protection of the Antarctic environment.

Previously, all stereological estimation of particle number and sizes were based on models and notoriously gave biased results, were very inefficient to use and difficult to justify. For all references to old methods and a direct comparison with unbiased methods see recent reviews. The publication in 1984 of the DISECTOR, the first unbiased stereological probe for sampling and counting 3—D objects irrespective of their size and shape, signalled the new era in stereology — and give rise to a number of remarkably simple and efficient techniques based on its distinct property: It is the only known way to obtain an unbiased sample of 3-D objects (cells, organelles, etc). The principle is simple: within a 2-D unbiased frame count or sample only cells which are not hit by a parallel plane at a known, small distance h.The area of the frame and h must be known, which might sometimes in itself be a problem, albeit usually a small one. A more severe problem may arise because these constants are known at the scale of the fixed, embedded and sectioned tissue which is often shrunken considerably.

In the mid-nineteenth century Virchow revolutionized pathology by introduction of the concept of “cellular pathology”. Today, a century later, this term has increasing significance in health and disease. We now are in the beginning of a new era in pathology, one which might well be termed “organelle pathology” or “subcellular pathology”. The impact of lysosomal diseases on clinical medicine exemplifies this role of pathology of organelles in elucidation of disease today.Another aspect of cell organelles of prime importance is their pathologic alteration by drugs, toxins, hormones and malnutrition. The sensitivity of cell organelles to minute alterations in their environment offers an accurate evaluation of the site of action of drugs in the study of both function and toxicity. Examples of mitochondrial lesions include the effect of DDD on the adrenal cortex, riboflavin deficiency on liver cells, elevated blood ammonia on the neuron and some 8-aminoquinolines on myocardium.
