Peltophorum dubium (Sprengel) Taubert (Leguminosae) tem sido empregada com sucesso na arborização de praças, parques e rodovias, por apresentar flores amarelas formando vistosas panículas terminais e folhagem densa proporcionando ótima sombra. Entretanto, besouros serradores têm sido considerados uma potencial ameaça à arborização urbana no Brasil, causando danos a várias espécies botânicas ornamentais. Report of Oncideres saga (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in Peltophorum dubium (Leguminosae) in Trombudo Central, Santa Catarina State, Brazil Abstract. Peltophorum dubium (Sprengel) Taubert (Leguminosae) has been used successfully for landscaping squares, parks and roads, due its yellow flowers forming terminal panicles and dense foliage providing excellent shade. However, twig girdlers have been considered a potential threat to the urban landscaping in Brazil, damaging many ornamental plant species. The aim of this study was to record the attack of twig girdlers in plants of P. dubium in Trombudo Central, Santa Catarina State, Brazil between November 2006 and January 2007. Damage was observed on 12 trees used in the urban landscaping of the city. During the survey period, 27 girdled branches were collected with an average diameter of 6.35 cm. This is the first record of the twig girdler Oncideres saga (Dalman) damaging plants of P. dubium in Brazil.

The first register of Biomphalaria straminea, vector species of schistosomiasis, in Santa Catarina State, South Brazil is described. The specimens were obtained from two ornamental aquaria of private residences. In both cases the ornamental plants and/or fishes were bought from the same supplier. The presence of this species was later confirmed in the farm where these plants and fishes are cultivated, in the city of Governador Celso Ramos, also in Santa Catarina State. The occurrence in natural environments was later detected in two different places of the Island of Santa Catarina.

Fifteen insect gall morphotypes were found on 11 plant species (8 families) in three fragments of the Dense Ombrophylous Lowland Forest, in the municipalities of Maracajá, Içara and Araranguá, Santa Catarina. Most of the galls occurred in leaves, followed by stems galls and a single gall morphotype in Leandra sp. (Melatomastaceae), occurred in both leaves and stems. Glabrous and isolated galls were more frequent than hairy and gregarious galls. Lauraceae was the family of plant with greater wealth of galls. It was pointed out the first record of the plant Microstachys serrulata (Euphorbiaceae) for the state of Santa Catarina. Galls found in Ilex theezans (Aquifoliaceae), Microstachys serrulata (Euphorbiaceae), Dahlstedtia muehlbergiana (Fabaceae), Nectandra oppositifolia (Lauraceae), Leandra sp. (Melastomataceae), Miconia sellowiana (Melastomataceae), Myrcia multiflora (Myrtaceae) and Urera nitida (Urticaceae) were recorded for the first time in the State of Santa Catarina.

Pogoniopsis is an endemic and myco-heterotrophic orchid genus with only two species in Brazil that can be found growing under dense canopy. Pogoniopsis schenckii is more widely distributed, with records in the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. Here we record P. schenckii for the first time in Santa Catarina state, southern Brazil, in a subtropical broadleaved forest, as well the genus Pogoniopsis itself, expanding its southern distribution limit. In addition, a description and a distribution map of the collected specimens are presented.

We report Melanophryniscus biancae Baldo, Pie, Firkowski, Ribeiro & Corrêa, 2015 from Araçatuba, Tijucas do Sul, Paraná, Brazil at 1,615–1,645 m altitude, the first record from the state of Paraná. On 8 January 2018 we heard individuals calling during the day in the leaves of Paepalanthus planifolius (Bong.) Körn. where eggs, tadpoles, and three adults were collected. This species was recently described from two upland marshes (1,310–1,465 m altitude) in northeastern Santa Catarina, where it was found at night breeding in water tanks of Eriocaulon ligulatum (Vell.) L.B.Sm. Included here are new data on this species’ habitat, activity period, plant species used for oviposition, and the first female measurements.

The aim of this article is to show the main discussions of my work on Elopement and some kinds of kinship in a community in the city of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina state. The core of this work is the Elopement, a form of consensual union that allows marriage between relatives. Notions of kinship and family are also discussed, as well as the experience with MaqPar (acronym for machine kinship) and other computer programs which enabled new insights into this field. Among the perceptions about relationships, substance and coexistence issues are interwoven with the elopement and empirical networks.
