BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES. Due to increasing energy costs, as well as strict environmental regulations, there is a growing need for greater resource efficiency, which makes energy-efficient solutions necessary. Thus, the importance of innovations based on technologies designed to save energy, such as the Smart Grid, is increasing. Smart Grid is not just a compilation of smart meters or other electrical devices, it is a series of technologies, a concept of a fully integrated, self-regulating and self-healing power grid, which has a network topology and includes all sources of generation, transmission and distribution, managed by a single network of information and control devices and systems.METHODS. As the main method used was the calculation of the synthetic balance of savings from the use of different types of energy resources by the university after the implementation of the application Smart Grid-energy conservation management on the basis of the university energy-innovation Hub of knowledge.FINDINGS. A mechanism for the implementation of the Smart Grid energy-saving management application on the basis of the university energy-innovation Knowledge Hub is proposed. Smart Grid is designed to provide real-time data on the almost instantaneous balance of energy supply and demand. To ensure grid reliability by reducing peak demands and improving energy efficiency, Smart Grid data management is an affordable and effective tool for data analysis and decision making.CONCLUSION. The results of calculation of the predicted effect of the Smart Grid application implementation for the 4th building of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design proved that the reduction of installed capacity as a result of the project was 80.5%, i.e. a 1% reduction in capacity creates an economic effect of 0.58% of the costs associated with modernization. Given the current level of electricity consumption, we can predict a potential reduction of 951 thousand UAH per year or almost 50% of the cost of electricity consumed in 2020.

The Smart Grid (SG) is nowadays an essential part of modern society, providing two-way energy flow and smart services between providers and customers. The main drawback is the SG complexity, with an SG composed of multiple layers, with devices and components that have to communicate, integrate, and cooperate as a unified system. Such complexity brings challenges for ensuring proper reliability, resilience, availability, integration, and security of the overall infrastructure. In this paper, we introduce a new smart grid testing management platform (herein called SGTMP) for executing real-time hardware-in-the-loop SG tests and experiments that can simplify the testing process in the context of interconnected SG devices. We discuss the context of usage, the system architecture, the interactive web-based interface, the provided API, and the integration with co-simulations frameworks to provide virtualized environments for testing. Furthermore, we present one main scenario about the stress-testing of SG devices that can showcase the applicability of the platform.

Background: Fatigue is a frequently reported and disabling symptom in multiple sclerosis (MS). Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of an individual energy conservation management (ECM) intervention on fatigue and participation in persons with primary MS-related fatigue. Methods: A total of 86 severely fatigued and ambulatory adults with a definite diagnosis of MS were randomized in a single-blind, two-parallel-arm randomized clinical trial to the ECM group or the information-only control group in outpatient rehabilitation departments. Blinded assessments were carried out at baseline and at 8, 16, 26 and 52 weeks after randomization. Primary outcomes were fatigue (fatigue subscale of Checklist Individual Strength – CIS20r) and participation (Impact on Participation and Autonomy scale – IPA). Results: Modified intention-to-treat analysis was based on 76 randomized patients (ECM, n = 36; MS nurse, n=40). No significant ECM effects were found for fatigue (overall difference CIS20r between the groups = −0.81; 95% confidence interval (CI), −3.71 to 2.11) or for four out of five IPA domains. An overall unfavourable effect was found in the ECM group for the IPA domain social relations (difference between the groups = 0.19; 95% CI, 0.03 to 0.35). Conclusion: The individual ECM format used in this study did not reduce MS-related fatigue and restrictions in participation more than an information-only control condition.

The advent of information epoch and the establishment of the smart home and city have cultivated and accelerated the formation of the power fiber to the home (PFTTH). The analysis on the development course of fiber to the home (FTTH) in both China and abroad, as well as the problems of Chinese broadband and its solutions all illustrate that PFTTH is the best solution of energy conservation, environmental protection, resources optimization and breaking the deadlock of the integration of three networks. The success and the rapid popularization of the PFTTH pilots in many places of China push the integration of the four networks forward. Meanwhile, the vigorous development of the smart grid makes the PFTTH fall into place. The huge fiber network formed by the grid has the function of Infobahn. And through the open transportation of the pipeline route, telecom and the broadcasting, building an informative network with Chinese characteristics begins to show effects. Supported by the related policies of the government, PFTTH is bound to open a new era of information.

Through the analysis of energy-consumption in the link of design–setup–buildup–withdrawal-transportation in exhibition process; exhibition’s circulation application has been discussed; the characteristics of energy-consumption in modern exhibition management, implementation and material application has been comparatively analyzed; then, suggestions are proposed to establish the influence model of material and ecological environment and the circulation application model of modularized building elements. The account method of energy consumption in exhibition application has proved the value of the application of circulative energy-conservation in exhibition project, providing the theoretical basis for sustainable development of exhibition business.
