Smart grid technology is a radical approach for improvisation in existing power grid. Some of the significant features of smart grid technology are bidirectional communication, AMI, SCADA, renewable integration, active consumer participation, distribution automation, and complete management of entire grid through wireless communication standards and technologies. Management of complex, hierarchical, and heterogeneous smart grid infrastructure requires data collection, storage, processing, analysis, retrieval, and communication for self-healing and complete automation. Data mining techniques can be an effective solution for smart grid operation and management. Data mining is a computational process for data analysis. Data scrutiny is unavoidable for unambiguous knowledge discovery as well as decision making practices. Data mining is inevitable for analysis of various statistics associated with power generation, distribution automation, data communications, billing, consumer participation, and fault diagnosis in smart power grid.

The term "smart grid" refers to the transformation of the traditional electric power grid into a modern grid. Modernization of the present electric power system is an important step to implement the Smart Grid technology. The structure of the existing power sector in Bangladesh is almost a hundred years old. Due to which the power sector of Bangladesh facing huge power wastage. A Smart Grid also ensures the efficient transmission and distribution of electric power. This paper gives a brief description of Smart Grid, the latest trends, challenges, prospects, cost analysis of smart grid equipment, and its facility. The spotlight of this paper is to implement the Smart Grid's perspective to Bangladesh. That’s included to have new distributed generation technology, smart meter, a pilot project, etc. Also, the main objective of this paper is the comprehensive development of transmission and distribution loss reduction, which will be saving a big amount of capital every year. And that will play a huge role in the economy of Bangladesh to move forward in global progress.

The performance of batteries and on-board chargers (such as the volume in the car, energy storage capacity and charging speed) needs to be improved, which has become one of the main factors restricting the development of electric vehicles. The development of Vehicles to Grid technology puts forward higher requirements for chargers. With the development of Vehicles to Grid (V2G) technology, more realizable functions put forward higher requirements for chargers. To solve the problem of charging system in electric vehicle, a charging-driving integrated topology was designed, which makes full use of two-stator motor and inverters to be transformed to a charging system. The supercapacitor and the battery are used to form the hybrid power system. In the driving mode, the startup and acceleration performance of the vehicle are improved. In the charging mode, the various functions of Vehicles to Grid technology can be satisfied, and the electrical isolation is realized. This topology not only improves the power, but also greatly reduces the charging/discharging times of the battery, and improves the overall performance of the system. The feasibility is verified by simulation.

In this century where everyone is talking about making machine smart, intelligent, it is need of technology to go two steps ahead and make smarter systems upon which humans can rely. Smart Grid is nothing but making the systems at home intelligent so as to make life easy without spending lot of money. This paper will help you understand what actually smart grid is, how it can be implemented and mainly focus upon the wireless communication in Smart Grid. The paper will present the architecture of Smart Grid using wireless connectivity and explain the importance of Home Area Networks. Security is the measure concern in case of wireless communication which is explained with some of the protocols to be used and Methods to avoid security threats. Wireless Technologies like Wi-Max, Wi-Fi, Zig-Bee and their use in the Smart Grid architecture is covered. Today, we are searching for a solution with less efforts and maintenance required and for the complicated electrical system, Smart Grid is the best solution to be implemented. Conventional Grid could not solve the problem of peak loads where users/consumers were unable to receive a proper service, it is complicated for the central system to manage large amount of load alone. Smart Grid solves this problem by distributing the management of energy and how it does, we will see in some of the chapters in this report. Smart devices like smart meters, Electric Vehicles can be used to make homes smarter. Smart Grid technology does not solve the problem of electricity only but also for water, gas etc. This technology is most suitable for smart city/village projects helping in making smarter devices and using communication between the devices, making human life more reliable and comfortable.
