Collocations usage among translation master students in the University of Algiers II seems rather irregular when it comes to the transfer of English into Arabic. This paper examines the extent and causes of this irregularity through a descriptive field study conducted among students’ assessments. It also inquires the means to consolidate translation data towards their mother tongue first, and to spontaneously and correctly make them use collocations when translating into Arabic. This paper aims at suggesting long-term solutions for undergraduate translators’ culture widening for a future style improvement. In a nutshell, it is admitted that in order to preserve Arabic from weakness and to universally spread its culture, more consideration is to be offered to translation since it is a solid channel for a daily usage of collocations. Purposefully and consequently then, many outstanding books on collocations proved efficient when read by students in a limited period of time; the assessments, full of collocations usage, showed how fruitful the books were and how they bettered the students’ style as far as collocations are concerned.

This article discusses the results of a field study conducted in 2019 at Tomsk State University (TSU) and Tyumen State University (TyumSU). The purpose of the study is to investigate the motivations behind educators’ choice of their profession and the aspects they say as its advantages and disadvantages. Methodologically, the study is based on 43 in-depth interviews with lecturers of TSU and TyumSU. These universities are located in Siberian cities and are among the group of the leading higher education institutions in Russia. The study shows that the lecturers associate the benefits of work at the university with the opportunities provided by the ‘5-100 Project’ to attain the world standards; good working conditions; prestige of work at a reputable university; stability of university employment; feeling of belonging to the academic; and so on. Most educators are dissatisfied with such aspects of university work as bureaucratization; redundancies; short-term contracts; the lack of transparency and inefficiency in funds distribution; and irregular working hours. We found that despite some divergence of views, the faculty of the TSU and TyumSU share a lot of opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of university work. Thus, the cases of the two Siberian universities provide us with the insights into a larger picture of the Russian system of higher education. These findings can be useful for HR services of universities for recruiting and retaining personnel.

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد المنطلقات الفلسفية لفكرة التعليم عن بعد، والكشف عن درجة وعي طلاب جامعة التكوين المتواصل في جامعة باتنة، بالجزائر بها، وقد أجريت عام ٢٠١٣م، واستخدم الباحث المنهج التحليلي الوصفي، معتمدًا على أداتين بحثيتين هما: «استمارة تحليل المحتوى» و«استبانة الوعي بفلسفة التعليم عن بعد»، وقد تم تصميمهما في الدراسة الاستطلاعية لهذا البحث، وتم تحكيمهما وحساب خصائصهما السيكومترية، وتمثلت عينتهما في الجانب الوصفي في 120 طالبًا وطالبة من طلاب جامعة التكوين المتواصل «فرع جامعة باتنة» قسم التعليم عن بعد بالجزائر، أما عينة التحليل فتمثلت فيما أتيح للباحث من أدبيات الموضوع؛ إذ جاءت فئات التحليل محصورة في ثلاث فئات، هي: «الطبيعة البشرية»، «طبيعة المعرفة ومصادرها، «طبيعة التربية والتعليم»، أما وحدات التحليل فقد تم اعتماد «الفكرة» كوحدة لذلك. ولتحليل نتائج الاستبانة تم استخدام المتوسط الحسابي والانحراف المعياري. وأشارت النتائج إلى: ورود «24» فكرة بوصفها منطلقات فلسفية للتعليم عن بعد منها: 9 أفكار متعلقة بالطبيعة البشرية، و8 مرتبطة بطبيعة المعرفة ومصادرها، و7 معنية بطبيعة التربية والتعليم، وأن أصول هذه الأفكار تجمع بين التيار الفلسفي الطبيعي اللامدرسي والتيار الفلسفي النفعي الديمقراطي؛ حيث تم مناقشة كل فكرة من هذه الأفكار على حدة، كما أشارت النتائج إلى انخفاض درجة وعي أفراد عينة الدراسة بهذه المنطلقات وقد قدمت لهذه النتيجة الأخيرة جملة من التفسيرات. وفي الختام أوصت الدراسة بعدد من التوصيات

A brief biographical account is given of the nineteenth-century marine dredger, naturalist and shell collector, Robert McAndrew, based on a hitherto unavailable family memoir written in 1915 by his youngest son, George. Robert McAndrew's extensive shell collection is kept in the University of Cambridge Museum of Zoology. George's own residence was at Juniper Hall in Surrey, a property sold to the National Trust in 1945 and now leased to the Field Studies Council as a field study centre.

In Physical Education, there is a discussion about the theory and practice dichotomy, and how much one provides support to the other to obtain legitimacy. This leads to thinking about the training of the new professionals in the area. In the training environment, there are theoretical subjects, which seem to be far from a reality outside of the university. This causes a misinterpretation of the real situation of education. The aim of this study was to verify the perception of the scholarship students about the extension Project “The insertion of the university in soccer” regarding the dimension theory and practice in the Physical Education training. It was conducted qualitative research, with a qualitative approach, and composed of five scholarship students from the extension project. The data were collected through an open questionnaire, applied to the students, and analyzed with the theoretical framework searching for the results. The data analysis indicates the tension maintenance between theory and practice, which the first one concentrates on the setting of a conceptual framework far from the practice conceived as a limited “experience of yourself” during an educational activity. However, the extensionists practices allowed to widen the knowledge of the professional expertise and, paradoxically, the application of the theories learned in the academic environment.
