This study aims to describe Arabic Reading Skills learning activities with the HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skill) system. The research method used is a qualitative method based on text analysis. This study indicates that HOTS-based Arabic Reading Skills learning activities categorized into three levels: Level of Analysis, Level of Evaluation, and Level of Creation. First, the Level of Analysis is oriented towards the ability of students to distinguish the form of the word Isim or fi'il from a text, distinguish and classify the position of fi'il, fa'il, or maf'ul, describe the content text using a concept map, and link main ideas or compare information about a topic from reading results. The second is the level of evaluation which is oriented towards students' ability to check or determine errors in writing letters, vocabulary, language rules, and punctuation in a text, and criticize, refute, conclude, provide reviews or reasons, and communicate reading results with different expressions. Third, the level of creation is oriented towards the ability of students to formulate a statement sentence into a question, or vice versa, reconstruct a reading text into a conversation, and produce reading results by developing thoughts or opinions into ideas or notions.

As one of the scientific disciplines in the sociolinguistic field, Arabic is often only fixated on the concept of language without involving other scientific studies, thus giving birth to Arabic learners who are less responsive to the times. This study aims to analyze the values of integration-interconnection contained in the material in the Arabic textbook class XII Islamic Senior High School published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, supported by other relevant documents using a literature study. The data collected in the field were analyzed using descriptive-qualitative. This study indicated that the five chapters has already contained the value of integration-interconnection between religious, scientific, and social sciences. However, there were no value in scientific knowledge found in Chapter II and III. Also, the result of this study needed to be emphasized the application of the value of integration-interconnection in Arabic learning. It is not enough to rely only on textbooks alone, but it also requires the presence of teachers who participate in extracting other scientific values. The results are expected to contribute to improving the concept of Arabic textbooks, which contain the value of integration-interconnection. Further research is expected to explore the value of integration-interconnection at every level of education.  It is highly expected that this will create Arabic language learning that can meet other scientific disciplines.

The knowledge of nahwu has been taught in many universities in Indonesia. However, the study of the nahwu taught is still limited to a study oriented to the science of tools in learning Arabic and ignores historical, theoretical aspects such as Madrasah Basra and Kufa. Therefore, this study aims to prove whether this historical, academic study is essential to be taught to Indonesian AFL students. This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive type. The questionnaire was given to several 20 fifth-semester AFL students with three open-ended questions about their knowledge of Madrasah Basra and Kufa. The results of this study indicate that 60% of students are familiar with Madrasah Basrah and Kufa. Most of them hear about Madrasah Basrah and Kufa for the first time in college (75%), in pesantren (8.3%), on the internet (8.3%), at high school (8.3%), and from the sermon (8.3%.). Moreover, the students generally know about Madrasah Basrah and Kufa's differences, but it is only limited to the differences in terms and I'rab. Therefore, the learning of nahwu needs to be developed by paying attention to the historical aspects of the nahwu development, especially the differences from Madrasah Basrah and Kufa.

This research describes and analyzes the character values according to the Ministry of National Education which are instilled in students in the process of Arabic learning, and the inhibiting and supporting factors for the application of these character values. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive method. The results showed that the application of character values in the process of Arabic learning is included in the planning, implementation, and assessment. The teacher integrated character education in the process of Arabic learning by using various approaches, methods, and strategies. Character values that are applied in the process of Arabic learning consist of 21 values. Integrating character values in the process of Arabic learning is inseparable from the inhibiting factors and supporting factors which include nurture and nature factors. This research suggests follow-up research studies by comparing two or more educational institutions.

Several studies showed that Arabic khat had been widely developed in countries with a Muslim majority population.  However, many previous studies have not examined the origin of the Arabic khat and its development from different periods. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the source of Arabic khat, the product and the figures from different periods, and several other things related to Arabic khat. This research was done in qualitative research with a descriptive historical approach through a literature-based study to examine data and information. The research was conducted by limiting the study's scope on Arabic khat development from the Umayyad dynasty to its expansion in Indonesia. The results showed that the Arab Khat began to develop centuries ago during the Umayyad dynasty. Three factors caused calligraphy to increase: the influence of power expansion, the kings and social elites' role, and the influence of science development. Moreover, the encouragement coming from the verses of al-Qur'an, the motivation to write al-Qur'an, and the use of Arabic as al-Qur'an language are also the factors in the development of Arabic khat. Hence, it is no wonder that the term Arabic khat is synonymous with al-Qur'an's khat.

Therefore, this study aims to provide an overview of the management of Arabic language learning, especially in planning, implementing, and evaluating, organized by teachers who are members of the Arabic teachers’ forum. This study used a descriptive method by adopting data analysis techniques from Miles and Huberman. The results of this study indicate that in planning, the Arabic teachers made a lesson plan which would be held online. As for implementing the lesson plan, the teachers use synchronous and asynchronous models. They also used a combination of two models, a written test presented using Google form and Quizizz media for evaluation. On the other hand, some teachers also conducted oral tests using voice recordings through WhatsApp. This research suggests that teachers can better manage the planning, implementing, and evaluating online learning in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic following the characteristics and models of online learning.

Maharah al-kalam or Arabic speaking skills have an essential role for students, especially students who take Arabic courses. Ironically, maharah al-kalam's urgency is not always accompanied by the efforts to actualize maharah al-kalam's activeness. Although several institutions have attempted to realize these efforts, it has not been exposed extensively so that other institutions cannot adopt the methods or technics used by these institutions. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the efforts to improve maharah al-kalam, one of the Muhammadiyah universities implemented in Indonesia, through the language environment activation. This study used a qualitative-phenomenology approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interview, and documentation study. This study indicated three patterns of the Arabic language environment activation implemented in the tertiary institution: the display of pamphlets with an instruction to speak Arabic, vocabulary boards, and Arabic today. This study's findings also emphasized the importance of cooperation among the institution managers, lecturers, and students to comply with the mutually agreed rules. Without collaboration and commitment between the parties, the desired results will not be achieved.
