Introduction: The correct breathing process is through thenasal route, since it provides that the air during aspiration isfiltered, humidified and heated, thus conditioning the lungsfor gas exchange to occur. Allergic processes or other formsof affections can lead to the obstruction of the passage of airthrough the nose, leading the body to make an alternativeadaptation for the passage of air to occur through the mouth.A person who uses the mouth to breathe is called a mouthbreather. Once this adaptive process occurs, as a way tocompensate for this alternative airway, the body promotesa series of alterations in several segments of the body, such aschanges in the postural, respiratory, behavioral and stomatognathicsystems. Several techniques are used to treat themusculoskeletal dysfunctions presented by mouth breathers. Objective: to analyze how physiotherapy can contribute tothe improvement of the quality of life of mouth breathingchildren and to find out which are the most effective treatments. Methods: a search of data in the literature was carriedout by consulting the following electronic databases: Scielo,Bireme, Pub Med, Lilacs Google Scholar, as well as specializedbooks in the field. We excluded articles published before theyear 2000. Result: Among the analyzed articles, we perceivethat the treatment of mouth breathers occurs in a multidisciplinaryway, since it presents changes that encompassseveral body and systemic segments. Among the professionalsinvolved in the rehabilitation process, we highlight therole of physiotherapists. Conclusion: the physiotherapist isqualified to intervene in this pathology, with expertise inevaluation and establishment of the best treatment program, with physiotherapeutic conduits, allowing an improvementin respiratory patterns. Keywords: Mouth breathing children; Physiotherapy; Posturalevaluation; Treatment.

Hemicorporectomy is a procedure where the lumbar spine and spinal cord, pelvic bones and contents, lower extremities and external genitalia are surgically removed. The rehabilitation process, in addition to being prolonged and costly, is challenging. This article reports the rehabilitation process for hemicorporectomy and shows the innovative solutions for mobility for this disability for two cases of paraplegic patients: case 1 due to traumatic spinal cord injury due to firearm injury and case 2 due to lumbosacral myelomeningocele. They presented chronic pressure ulcer which evolved to neoplastic transformation. (squamous cell carcinoma - Marjolin's ulcer). The cases were submitted to L4 hemicorporectomy and were rehabilitated to ensure the right to mobility independence for activities of daily living; social inclusion; prevention of comorbidities and pluralization of disabilities. The rehabilitation involved the elaboration of a new prosthesis for the hemibody and improvement of functional capacity, within a gain of 6 - 11 points in the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). The principal changes happened in social interaction, locomotion and transfers to a bed/chair and toilet. Despite the body transformation, patients show gains in quality of life mainly for the social domain of World Health Organization Quality of Life instrument-brief version (WHOQOL-bref). In general, there is an increase in the scores of this instrument from 1.78% -19.25%. The evolution of social inclusion through the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) reveals that patients are able to resume social, working, academic-professional life and recreation and leisure activities, reducing the number of severe and complete qualifiers from 90.91 to 60% when using the products appropriate assistive devices. Hemicorporectomy can be a therapeutic option for those in need, as it provides functionality without the need for caregivers and resumes educational, professional, economic and social aspects with gains in quality of life.

Introduction: Fibromyalgia is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, stiffness, fatigue, sleep and mood disturbances, anxiety and functional changes. With no definitive pathogenesis, it is predominant in women. Its diagnosis is based on clinical examination of 18 standardized points. Of these, 11 must be painful to characterize fibromyalgia. Acupuncture, which aims to balance the body, has been used frequently in studies of pain and treatments. The main risk factors for fibromyalgia related to Chinese Medicine are: invasion of cold wind, emotional stress, irregular diet and excessive physical labor. Objective: Conduct a literature review to determine the effect of acupuncture as a technique to be used for pain relief and improved quality of life in individuals with fibromyalgia. Method: A literature search was performed through the Bireme, Lilacs, Pubmed, Medline and Scielo databases, 2008 - 2012. Results: The review found that acupuncture is an effective form of treatment for individuals with fibromyalgia, but greater methodological rigor needs to be established. Conclusion: Acupuncture can be effective in reducing pain, and in improving sleep and quality of life in individuals with fibromyalgia. However, there is still need for further research to enhance and extend the effective therapeutic use of acupuncture in the treatment of fibromyalgia.

Cancer is a chronic disease that reduces the quality of life of the sufferer. High stressors and low coping due to disease prognosis, therapy management, and minimal social support, have an impact on poor psychological conditions. Therefore, we need complementary therapies such as yoga that is easy, cheap, and can be done independently. Yoga practice increases oxygen supply and relaxes muscles and joints which can increase hormonal work which is beneficial for the body physically and psychologically for cancer patients. Objective: This study aims to explain the effectiveness of yoga on increasing QoL (Quality of Life) in cancer patients. Research data were identified from 5 journal databases including PubMed, JSTOR (Journal Storage), Wiley Online Library, Sage Journal, and Taylor & Francis Online using the PIOS (Participant, Intervention, Outcomes and Study Design) method and MeSH term on advanced search engines. Articles that become research data are articles published in 2006-2020 in the English version, open access, and in full text in the original research article form. A total of 3050 articles were found, a screening process was carried out using the Prisma Protocol to eliminate articles that did not meet the criteria. This literature review study found 16 articles that prove that the use of yoga interventions can improve the quality of life of cancer patients. Cancer patients are advised to do self-care in the form of Yoga to improve their quality of life. Advanced research will need to compare the feasibility between yoga and different intervention.

Introduction. Occupational chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the leading nosological forms of occupational respiratory disease. Numerous studies have shown high effectiveness of the combination of indacaterol/glycopyrronium (Ultibro®breezhaler®) on the impact on clinical and functional indicators in the treatment of COPD in General practice. The aim of the investigation the case of occupational COPD with the analysis of the dynamics of functional indicators, tolerance to physical load and evaluation of the quality of life of workers engaged in aluminum production by using combination of indacaterol/glycopyrronium.Materials and methods. The random sampling method included 20 men, workers of aluminum production, with the established diagnosis of professional COPD at the age of 40 to 60 years. The survey was conducted (Borg scale, medical Research Council scale (mMRC) and COPD Assessment Test (CAT). Functional methods of studies were conducted: spirometry, body plethysmography, electrocardiography (ECG) and the six-minute stepper test (6-MST).Results. Against the background of 8 weeks of therapy, the volume of forced exhalation for 1 minute (FEV1) increased by 14.7% and amounted to 67.90% of the due values, the forced vital capacity of the lungs (FVC) increased by 11.3% and amounted to 76.95% of the due. According to the body plethysmography (BPG) is set to decrease in residual lung volume on average by 13.4% and static hyperinflation, confirmed by the decrease in functional residual volume (FRV) of 18.8%. During the study period increased physical activity of patients. The average difference between the distance traveled in the six-minute step test before and after treatment was 58.8 m. The analysis of personal data showed that the quality of life of patients improved, the total score in the questionnaire CAT at the beginning of the study was 16.9 points, and after 8 weeks decreased by 63% and amounted to 10.7 points. Conclusions: The Results indicate a positive effect of combination therapy with indacaterol/glycopyrronium on the course and progression of occupational COPD.

AbstractIn recent years have seen increasing percentage of the elderly in the overall population. This has driven the attention to the lifestyle factors that influence the health and quality of life of this social group, including their nutrition and physical activity. Universities of the Third Age (U3A) are a valuable platform for the dissemination and broadening of the knowledge related to these topics. The nutritional habits of 61 U3A students in Poznań were evaluated on the basis of a modified KomPAN questionnaire. Their nutritional status was determined using the body mass index (BMI) and waist to hip ratio (WHR) indices. Nearly half of the respondents were overweight and 16% had first degree obesity. The WHR index in women was on average 0.8, while in men it was 1.01. Only 13% of the students declared regular eating, with 60% consuming 4-5 meals a day. Women were found to eat snacks between meals more often than men. It was also found that the majority of the elderly do not add salt to ready meals or sweeten beverages with sugars. Taking into account the observed nutritional problems and the occurrence of improper eating habits of the elderly, it is recommended to continue the education on the prevention of common diet-related diseased.
