<p>This study aims to develop a mathematics learning application, namely Android-based mobile learning to increase students' High Order Thinking Skills (HOTs). The result of mathematics learning media is a valid and practical mobile learning application product. "Mastering Math" is the name of a mathematics e-learning application designed as a mobile or smartphone application, with specifications for the OS Android. The procedure for the development of virtual mathematical media used the development of the 4D model of Thiagarajan: (1) define; (2) design; (3) develop, and (4) disseminate. The trials conducted included five expert judgments and a small group. The research instruments used were a validation sheet, a practical assessment sheet by the teacher, a practical assessment sheet by students, and a media effectiveness test instrument. Data analysis was performed using Cochran's Q test for similarity of expert validation and qualitative analysis. The teaching materials used are junior high school teaching materials with validity and practicality in the good category to increase students' HOTs. This research implies that the learning of mathematics is more effective and efficient, students' divergent thinking develops, and their learning motivation for mathematics increases.</p>

The 2013 curriculum encourages learners to have high-level high-level thinking skills high order thinking skills (HOTS). This requires teaching materials that are in line with the demands of the 2013 Curriculum such as Student Worksheets (LKPD). To develop LKPD in accordance with the demands of the 2013 Curriculum, it is necessary to analyze the needs of students about the LKPD. The purpose of this study was to see the needs of students' analysis of HOTS-based LKPD to hone higher order thinking skills so that students could think critically and creatively. This type of research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The sampling technique was observation, interviews and questionnaires to students of SMPN 3 and SMPN 23 Padang. The results showed that the teaching materials available at SMPN 3 Padang and SMPN 23 Padang already used the 2013 Curriculum, but the LKPD used was only made by the Subject Teacher Conference. The LKPD made by the MGMP does not require students to analyze, evaluate and create which are indicators of HOTS. From the analysis of the curriculum, the two schools have implemented the 2013 curriculum, but in its implementate it has not emphasized a student-centered learning process. Based on the interview with the teacher, it was found that the problem in the learning process was that students were not used to higher-order thinking and there was no teaching material that specifically required students to improve higher-order thinking. Thus, the development of HOTS-based LKPD is very much needed.

The aim of study to improve competency junior high school mathematics teachers in Solok Selatan district in compiling Olympiad questions mathematics and solving problems based on high order thinking skills (HOTS). The target audience for community service is mathematics teachers incorporated in the Subject Mathematics Teacher's Consultation (MGMP) Mathematics in Solok Selatan. The method used in the service includes the presentation of material by the team community service then carried out the pre test and post test, the design of the question HOTS, discussion and question and answer sessions at the math Olympiad. Conclusions of this research is: There is a positive increase in teacher competency after being given training in compiling math Olympiad questions that the posttest results are better than the results pretest in the training to improve the competency of mathematics teachers in compiling the questions Mathematical Olympiad based on high order thinking skills of SMPN in Solok Selatan District

Curriculum 2013 push student to have the high order thinking skills (HOTS). But in the SMPN 15 Padang especially in class VIII, there is no available teaching material that can improve students high order thinking skills in the learning process. Therefore, HOTS oriented LKPD has been developed in the structure and function of  plant tissue material. The purpose of this research to know validity of High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) oriented student worksheet (LKPD) on structure and function of  plant tissue material for class VIII junior high school. This research is part of Plomp model that is development or prototyping phase. Data analyzed through quantitative analysis. The instrument of data collection using validation questionnaires. The product validated by 3 lecturers of biology and a natural science teacher of SMPN 15 Padang. Based on the results of the study obtained the validity of  LKPD 90.96%  with very valid category.

The study aims to determine student’s High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and to find out the causes of student’s HOTS on dynamic electricity material. The number of samples involved 59 students consisting of 30 students from the excellence class and 29 students from the regular class. The research instrument used consisted of 8 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Questions have been validated, and reliability has been tested in the medium category (Alpha Cronbachs: 0.44). The data analyzed using descriptive analysis. The average student’s HOTS is 59.98% indicating the medium category. The results of the student’s HOTS on the analysis provided by students from excellence classes are 71.25% indicating high category and regular class 48.71% indicating medium category. The results of the analysis show that student’s HOTS is on medium category because students having difficulty in making connection one concept to another concept and using mathematics as a tool in solving physics problems. The results as a reference for improving student’s HOTS. This research can be developed by increasing the sample and expanding the material being tested.
