For the first time the importance of mineralogical and lithological-petrographical ranks in the line of geological information ranks is substantiated for implementation of long-term forecasts, standard and non-standard approaches to research of physical and geochemical parameters as a basis of creation of complex system of forecast criteria and prospecting indicators of hydrocarbons within the sedimentary cover of Black sea based on the theory of global fluid-flows derivation. These criteria have different sensitivity to the object (hydrocarbon deposits) and are therefore ranked. The ranking determined the following parameters: 1) seismic data within the object, obtained by the method of deep seismic sounding, RWM SDP; 2) parameters of tectono-geodynamic structures; 3) the main characteristics of sedimentary cover and bedrock; 4) geochemical characteristics; 5) parameters of mineral complexes and fluid inclusions in mineral neoformations; 6) the value of the distribution of meiobenthos. Based on modern views of oil and gas geology, structural-tectonic and lithological-facies criteria are among the main ones. The study of the mineralogical component of sediments is made with using mineralogical, thermobarogeochemical and X-ray spectral methods. Fixation of anomalies of fluid flow at the bottom of the Black Sea as to the distribution of abiotic parameters in order to assess the prospects of oil and gas is determined by structural and tectonic features and high permeability of fluid flow; parameters of mineral complexes (minerals, facies) and genetic connections; heterogeneity of geochemical characteristics of bottom sediments; the presence of hydrocarbon inclusions in authigenic minerals of bottom sediments.

The article is devoted to the generation and accumulation systems in the territory of the Crimean-Caucasian segment of the Alpine folded system. An area of prolonged and stable sagging in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic – the Azov-Kuban Trough, which is a typical foreland basin – is distinguished within this segment. According to the results of geological and geochemical studies and modelling, depocentres are identified in this area, consolisated in four generative and accumulative hydrocarbon systems: Triassic-Jurassic, Cretaceous, Eocene and Maikop. Chemical-bitumenological, pyrolytic and coal petrology analysis of rock samples were carried out to assess geochemical conditions of oil and gas content in Meso-Cenozoic sediments. The modelling results made it possible to study and model the elements and processes of hydrocarbon systems in the Meso-Cenozoic in the Western Crimean-Caucasian region. It has been established that the extended catagenetic zoning is typical for these areas, which is caused by high rates of sedimentation and sagging, and large thicknesses of oil-bearing sediments in the source of oil formation, accordingly. The degree of organic matter depletion characterized the residual potential of the oil and gas source strata, was investigated. It is important for predicting and assessing the possibility of hydrocarbon generation.

Replenishment of oil reserves requires searching, exploration and production of new unconventional objects. Among these objects is Domanik formation, which is widespread in the Volga-Ural basin. The Domanic high-carbon formation is presented by thin-layered carbonate-siliceous rocks with a high content of organic matter, capable of both producing hydrocarbons with its own oil and gas potential, and concentraring them in reservoirs [Stupakova et al., 2017]. Study of lithological composition of rocks help to obtain information about the nature of hydrocarbon accumulations and understand possibilities of estracting hydrocarbon of them. The lithological and geochemical characteristics of rocks are an integral part of the study such types of deposits.

Hydraulic fracturing has made the production of gas more economical. Shale gas possesses the potential to arise as a main natural gas source worldwide. It has been assessed that the top 42 countries, including the U.S., are predicted to own 7299 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of technically recoverable shale gas resources. The main goal of this paper is to serve as a guide of different shale gas extraction methods. The significance of these methods and possible pros and cons are determined. Each technique was explained with the support of literature review. Specifically, this paper revealed that some fracking methods such as pulsed arc electrohydraulic discharges (PAED), plasma stimulation and fracturing technology (PSF), thermal (cryogenic) fracturing, enhanced bacterial methanogenesis, and heating of rock mass are at the concept stage for conventional and other unconventional resources. Thus, these found to be significant for stimulating natural gas wells, which provides very good production results. This paper also discovered that fracking remains the recommended technique used by the oil and gas industries.
