Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in the development of a country's economy by providing employment and using local resources; they also have the ability to quickly adapt to external and internal changes and technological developments due to their flexible nature. The development of SMEs continues to be encouraged, but there are many complex factors that impact their development, primarily focused on the lack of resources. This study seeks to determine priority sectors for developing SMEs and business units that offer the greatest potential opportunities. This study uses the AHP method, which is widely used in Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). Out of the five criteria analyzed, human resources was the priority factor (28.1%) that must become the main focus for Yamaru enterprise. The results of this study can be adopted by other SMEs.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) which are now better known as micro and small enterprises play an important role in the growth of the Indonesian economy. The company carries out a SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Oppurtunity, and Threat) in determining marketing strategies. The respondents in this study are tofu producers, suppliers, consumers, governments, competitors and marketing institutions of Tahu Teguh Pribadi. Where this analysis consists of 2 analysis variables, namely an analysis of internal factors consisting of strengths and weaknesses, and external analysis consisting of opportunities and threats. The IFAS (Internal Factor Analysis Summary) matrix shows that the strength and weakness factors have a total score of 3.01. The EFAS (External Factor Analysis Strategy) matrix shows that opportunity and threat factors have a total value of 3.16. Based on the Cartesian diagram shows that Usaha Tahu Teguh Pribadi is in the Growth quadrant where the quadrant is a very favorable situation. S-O strategy (Strenght-Opportunity) then obtained the factor that must be maintained to be able to take the opportunities that are: Improving product quality by utilizing technological developments to maintain consumer trust and forming associations / unions of business entrepreneurs to maintain bargaining positions against suppliers. The W-O strategy (Weakness-Opportunity) obtained results, namely: Increasing sales volume through product diversification by utilizing culinary policies and improving the quality of human resources through programs from the government. S-T strategy (Great Strenght) shows results: Improving quality and maintaining product continuity with good production management to improve competitiveness. And can improve marketing efficiency by establishing W-T (Weakness-Threat) Strategy partnership relationship, namely: Use simple SOPsfor effectiveness and efficiency. As well as increasing capital and promotion networks through product packaging and increasing human resources

One of the efforts to improve the competitive advantage in rapid technological developments, especially in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), is to maximize the potential of human resources. However, at this time human resources MSMEs’owners are not acceptable in digital competence and low ability to improve entrepreneurial orientation. The role of human resources consisting of digital competence and entrepreneurial orientation leads to the competitive advantages of micro, small and medium enterprises. The study used a quantitative approach, using multiple regression analyses to analyze a questionnaire sample of 180 micros, small, and medium enterprises manufacture of food products in Bandung City. Results showed digital competence and entrepreneurial orientation have positive effect on competitive advantage. Salah satu usaha untuk dapat meningkatkan keunggulan bersaing ditengah perkembangan teknologi yang pesat khususnya pada Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) adalah dengan memaksimalkan potensi dari sumber daya manusia yang dimilikinya. Namun begitu saat ini sumber daya manusia atau pelaku usaha mikro, kecil dan menengah kurang akseptabel dalam penguasaan kompetensi digital serta rendahnya kemampuan dalam meningkatkan sikap orientasi kewirausahaannya. Peranan sumber daya manusia yang terdiri dari kompetensi digital dan orientasi kewirausahaan ini mengarah kepada keunggulan bersaing usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan menggunakan analisis regresi berganda untuk menganalisis sampel kuisioner sebanyak 180 pelaku UMKM industri pengolahan makanan di Kota Bandung. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa kompetensi digital dan orientasi kewirausahaan berpengaruh positif terhadap keunggulan bersaing.

Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Through Incense Manufacturing Business Facilities (Case Study in Gondang Tegalgondo Village, Karangploso, Malang District). Internal development efforts from household entrepreneurs that produce output in the form of incense to increase potential by using initial capital with their own savings. However, because this business is still a small household business, there are several constraints, including limited human resources, lack of facilities and infrastructure to support production, and packaging of incense products as well as low knowledge about entrepreneurship, resulting in no increase in economic value due to market share the destination is still around Bali and surrounding Malang. The solutions offered to partners are counseling and socialization and discussion with partners. The result of the discussion was that partners began to understand production management efficiently by involving technologies such as incense drying tools that were still being processed, so that even though the rainy season could still produce, partners also got the knowledge that the importance of providing trade name labels related to incense was produced to add value economical on goods produced.

The financial statements are fundamental for every company, both large companies and small companies. In Indonesia, according to the Ministry of Cooperatives and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, up to 2013 the total number of business units is 57,900,787, SME’s with the largest business units as much as 57,895,721 (99.99%) and large enterprises as much as 5.066 (0.01%). The development of SME’s is only seen in the number, while in the financial aspect, SME’s still lags behind. This condition is also experienced by UD Mitra Pelita who have not prepared financial statements. The purpose of this study is to know how the financial management of UD Mitra Pelita and their views on the benefits and losses in the preparation of financial statements as well as the factors that the reason the owner of the company has not compiled or not prepare financial statements. The method of analysis used in this research is descriptive method with case study design. The results showed that the financial management of UD Mitra Pelita the same as SME’s in general that is not yet prepared financial report. This raises many problems in their business activities. The factors that cause UD Mitra Pelita has not compiled financial statements are not much different from SME’s in general. However, these factors are not a barrier for UD Mitra Pelita to implement financial reports that have many benefits for their business activities.Keywords:Financial Reports, Benefits, Losses, Factors.

Yogyakarta is a city and the capital of Yogyakarta Special Region in Java, Indonesia. It is renowned as a center of tourism, education and culture. Yogyakarta is one of the foremost cultural centers of Java. This region is located at the foot of the active merapi vulcano. Yogyakarta is often called the main gateway to the Central Java as where it is geographically located. It stretches from Mount Merapi to the Indian Ocean. This province is one of the most densely populated areas of Indonesia. Yogyakarta is popular tourist destination in indonesia after Bali. These have attracted large number of visitors from across Indonesia and abroad to the city. This status makes Yogyakarta is one of the most heterogeneus cities in Indonesia. In edition, Yogyakarta has attracted large number of people to reside in this city for business. One of these comers is small entrepreneurs with their market munchies enterprise (specially a traditional snack trader). This business is one of famous business in Yogyakarta, we will find rows of pavement vendors selling market munchies. The students and tourists are their main target customers. Market munchies enterprise is part of small and medium enterprises SMEs as livelihood activities. SMEs has an important role in economic growth of Indonesia. Therefore, it is very important to develop and strengthen the micro enterprise empowerment. Micro enterprise empowerment is one of strategy to reduce the poverty rate in Indonesia. Major challenger in implement this program are that micro entrepreneurs are conventional and have satisfied with their revenue. It is very important to develop a comprehensive and sustainable micro enterprise empowerment which consist of strengthen the quality of human resources, maximize the government’s roles, empower the enterprise capital and strengthen the partnership and autonomous. Micro enterprise autonomy will contribute to the economic and investment climate. The present article is a case study of a Polish biopharmaceutical company, “Pure Biologics”. The company was founded in 2010 by a group of scientists and, over the last nine years, grew substantially from just a few individuals to nearly one hundred professionals. Initially, a privately-funded civil partnership, Pure Biologics, has been transformed into a publicly-traded company. Such a transformation has been possible not only because of the expertise and growing experience of corporate management, but also the specific economic environment and substantial public funding dedicated to innovative Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the relevant factors that influence the implementation of innovation contests, an open innovation (OI) practice that has been extensively reported in the literature as a managerial tool for external knowledge search. The authors focus the study on the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Design/methodology/approach The approach is a retrospective case study. This methodology allows an in-depth view into a Spanish SME that successfully undertook two new product development processes thanks to the deployment of innovation contests. Findings The main context factors influencing innovation contests as managerial tool are ambidexterity, technological and marketing turbulence and intermediaries, among others. Regarding design factors, this work highlights the role of attraction and facilitation. Additionally, the repetitive implementation of innovation contests creates a corporate culture that promotes OI activities. Practical implications Managers will understand that they can use innovation contests as a managerial tool, and knowing the factors that need to be taken into account when implementing an innovation contest will help SMEs managers to make better use of this practice. Originality/value This case study enriches the literature of both innovation contests and topics relevant to SMEs. Based on a theoretical framework of the design factors that influence the implementation of innovation contests, the authors propose a research framework that incorporates those context factors in association with an SME.

This paper contributes to the circular economy (CE) literature by investigating the drivers of success of the CE implementation in the construction sector and how those drivers can complement any implementation process in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). To do so, we analyzed the case of TECMO Estructuras Metálicas, using the methodology proposed by Jaca and colleagues to implement the CE in SMEs. It is a Colombian company with more than five decades of experience in the manufacture and installation of steel and aluminum structures for small and large building and infrastructure projects. The data were collected between August 2019 and November 2020 through direct communication with the company via workshops, meetings, and company reports. This research found that five drivers are relevant for implementing CE in the construction sector: fertile ecosystem, management commitment, identification of valuable materials, green teams, and CE intermediaries. Moreover, this study also contributes to teaching the implementation of the CE in companies, since it shows that through the methodology presented, implementation projects can be developed in postgraduate classes.
