Since the first generation of distance learning the format of distance education has changed a lot. Actually, with the increasing use of web technology to interact online the learning environments have been radically changed. The emergence of MOOC and its adoption by well-known universities has also influenced the change. Of course, the adoption of technology in education is not happening in the same way and at the same time and pace in all educational institutions. In fact, the success of adoption of technology depends on several factors related to the organization where it is implemented and with the individuals involved. In this chapter, the authors present the creation of a global and innovative higher education environment case study, the evolution of the solutions offered concerning distance learning, the actual offers, and the concerns for the future. They identify the factors that enabled or constrained this evolution as well as raise some questions that are still unanswered and point out some clues for future research in the field of creating a global learning environment.

Following the lead of geographer, David Harvey (2008), this chapter argues that many contemporary trends in the use of technology in higher education prevent the development of capacities for critical democratic citizenship. Too often, technology is deployed in a top-down fashion to shape student learning. Thus, to enhance the full emergence of students as active, engaged, critical citizens, it is crucial that they be granted access to the right to technology in education.

ABSTRACT:The different notions of reading constitute different methodologies, objects of study of the language and pedagogical postures. These notions have changed, through the concepts of reading as decoding and as interaction in modernity, and reading as discursive process and as virtual process, in post-modernity. Adopting one of these conceptions, this article aims at proposing a reading activity as discursive process for higher education, from a technology-themed audio-visual materiality in education. The theoretical methodology adopted is the Discourse Analysis in intersection with Foucault's studies to mobilize concepts such as discursive event, emergency conditions, regime and position-subject. The results show that the activity of reading as discursive process, from the example elucidated, brings up historical events which make it appear certain listed and not others in its place. With the irruption of these events, a regime appears of truth that supports the net of speeches where the analyzed text is anchored. The position of who reads and of who produces the speech will generate different meanings. Only when one relates critically to his position and problematizes it, explaining the production conditions, will the subject-reader finally understand the text.KEYWORDS: reading; discourse analysis; technology in education.

The employment of persuasive technology in education, computing, sales, health, and environment is dramatically increasing. Persuasive technology is powerful in changing the attitudes and behaviours of end users. This paper begins by presenting the ethics of persuasive technology which are relevant to Islamic values and beliefs, and how the concept of persuasion had been applied in Islam practices to influence people. It explores how persuasive technology and its design factors presented in FBM are related to the Islamic practices proven in the Quran and Hadith. Additionally, this paper discusses persuasive technology strategy tools and their activities from Islamic prospective. The paper also examines in depth how Islamic concepts improve the perception of persuasive technology as an interactive computing system which is able to modify attitudes and behaviours. Essentially, this paper also demonstrates how practices and principles of the design factors and strategy tools of persuasive technology have been identified and utilized in early Islamic age. Those principles and strategies are further analyzed from Quran verses and Hadith that are of particular relevance. The conceptual results claim that Islamic principles are a contemporary and universal religion that takes care of the persuasive technology aspects and view of the critically of persuasive technology to Muslim society

So with this, the use of platform MOOC is one the first method was introduced as one of the approaches in learning and teaching. However the question arises whether polytechnic lecturer was ready to use online learning extensively, particularly in the process of learning and teaching. This study is intended to review the availability of committed lecturers Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of the use of platform MOOC in learning and teaching. Respondents were 153 lecturers in PSMZA and it has been selected at random. The instruments used are a set of survey questions. The findings indicate the availability of lecturers PSMZA will against the use of platform MOOC in learning and teaching are not influenced by gender. The mean score for female lecturers was 2.83 compared mean score men namely 2.57 and this shows women more ready against the use of platform MOOC. The mean score for aspects of female lecturers obstacles higher than male lecturers. This suggests that female lecturers more willing to use MOOC in learning and teaching although there are some aspects which have become obstacles. Someone who had the expectation of high availability using MOOC are less face obstacles while using MOOC in learning and teaching sessions. Coefficient of correlation variables obstacles in the use of MOOC and graduate readiness against MOOC is very weak with the value of the coefficient of correlation of -0.078. It is mean that female lecturers more willing to use MOOC in learning and teaching although there are some aspects which have become obstacles. Therefore clearly showed the use of MOOC among the lecturers PSMZA will provide positive indicators and should be polished to ensure the integration of technology in education achieved towards helping towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

IoT is a rapidly emerging technology in education that attracts researchers, students, and administrators. This chapter reviews the opportunities and challenges of the IoT to determine whether there are potential communication and information sharing cultures in higher education institutions (HEIs). Despite the findings revealing stakeholders' demand for a better collaborative learning environment and better information sharing capabilities, IoT has various security and interoperability concerns that present an unattractive prospect for HE stakeholders to embrace IoT. IoT has the potential to meet HEIs system expectations, though stakeholders remain distant toward embracing IoTs. This indicates that stakeholders are not ready to embrace IoTs, thus prompting the need to study why stakeholders are resistant towards the IoT.
