Phenomenologies of Islamic terrorism, changing processes of radicalization to violence, and the suicide terrorist attacks perpetrated in many European countries, together constitute a complex educational topic. A topic that defies simplistic readings whereby the drawing of sharp boundaries between ‘us’ and ‘them’, or civilization and barbarism, organizes and reproduces morally reassuring analyses that relieve us of the duty to more thoroughly explore causes and areas of co-responsibility. A combination of pedagogical and gender based analysis can significantly contribute to advancing our knowledge of these phenomena and the related representations, deconstruct the processes underlying them, and inform the design of preventive interventions. More specifically, this article assesses the limitations and risks surrounding women’s role in prevention, also indicating ways in which the positive potential of this role may be explored; it is crucial to avoid re-essentializing the maternal and feminine, while supporting full recognition of women’s status as active and critical citizens

Extension activities allow learners to consolidate learning and encourage the construction of critical citizens capable of facing and solving individual and social issues. The objective was to apprehend the perception by extension students of educational actions in the health area. This is an exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Fifteen extension students of a higher education institution located in Curitiba-PR participated in the study. To support the research, preparatory activities on healthy eating were developed in August and September, 2018, and, in the following month, the educational action was presented by the students to a partner community. The collection of information was accomplished through individual, audiorecorded interviews. The coverage of the extension course shall be considered in several areas, with conciliation of theory and practice, allowing views about different worlds to be rethought and valued.

(1) The use of heritage in fieldwork, enabling the analysis of historical sources in museums via school trips, contributes towards the development of historical thinking and the formation of active, participative and critical citizens within the field of formal education (2) The general objective of the present study is to estimate the value which teachers and museum educators confer upon museums and school visits in the stages of early years, primary and secondary education. The research method employed is quantitative, based on the study of a descriptive comparative cross-sectional survey. The participants are 442 teachers, who visited two archaeological museums with their class groups in order to carry out an activity relating to the subject of history, and 18 museum educators. The data collection tool was the MUSELA © questionnaire. (3) The main results indicate that both teachers and educators agree that it is the responsibility of the educator to connect the visit with the interests of the group. 70% of the museum educators are totally in agreement with the academic perspective provided by museums, and more than 75% of the teachers and museum educators are totally in agreement with the fact that the objective of museum visits is to increase knowledge and cultural experience. (4) Educational agents’ understanding of the use of visits to archaeological museums as field trips for history work is a challenge that must be confronted over the coming decade. It is necessary to promote a model of collaboration that develops interaction by generating common educational projects.

Palavras-chave: Geração de Renda; Interdisciplinaridade; Vulnerabilidade Social Total interaction between Federal Institute of Paraná and external community Abstract: For educational and social development, partnerships between public and private entities are essential and desirable, always in order to contemplate the appreciation of a greater good, the human being. The exchange of experience and knowledge consolidates the tripod - teaching, research, and extension in the educational scope. Thus, the offer of interactions between the internal community of the Assis Chateaubriand campus of the Federal Institute of Paraná Education (IFPR) and the external community is clearly institutionalized in Extension Programs and Projects at IFPR. This project aimed to formalize both relevant extensional and educational actions, distributed in all social segments, that positively impacted society. From June to October 2019, community actions were developed, such as workshops, meetings, events, and cultural presentations (theater performances). All the actions took place in a satisfactory way regarding meeting the expectations of the participating communities. Consequently, the school has promoted the construction of moral values, forming conscious and critical citizens: people who know how to be engaged in community life and who value personal and collective well-being, who work to build a better world. Keywords: Income generation; Interdisciplinarity; Social vulnerability

AbstractHuman beings are technical beings. From the clothes we wear to the spaceships we fire into the sky, all these technologies are developed with the aim to protect ourselves, improve ourselves, and control the fickle world in which we live. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that when hit with one of the biggest health crises of the last century, all over the world, governments have turned to technology to contain this life-threatening event. Most of these proposed—or already developed—technological solutions are data-driven.Just as the turn to technology to solve this crisis does not come as a surprise, neither does the protest it has caused. Critical citizens and civil rights organizations worry about the possibility of personal data being shared with private parties, about governments ending up using the collected information against citizens, and they fear an overall loss of privacy and freedom if these applications became widely used. Overall, they suspect that what is introduced as a temporary instrument to counter this crisis will have long-lasting effects on society.

In the present era, information is too often transformed into communication of products or services, rather than carrying out its primary function of disseminating knowledge and awareness. Some elements, like artificial intelligence, are often used for these purposes. To bring education back to its original value, journalism in the classroom can help in the improvement of our human intelligence to orientate in this very complex world. A journalism workshop helps school education in the crucial role of forming aware careful users of contents, since the communication doesn't spread anymore only by written articles, but also through video-news, spots, promotional campaigns, providing a lot of information about trends, economy, and politics. Students in these classrooms learn about what it means by checking the sources, verifying rights of uses, and finally, giving news supported with facts or promote ethical-social messages. Having a knowledge based on experience helps to develop critical abilities to use them.

Mathematics has traditionally been blamed for being one of the preponderant factors that explains students’ dropout in universities. This assessment may seem rather violent; however, it is not so far from reality. We miss aspects related to empathy with new generations of students and a closer use of mathematics in the incorporation of new discourses. Therefore, in this communication, we discuss some aspects related to our understanding of mathematics for "non-mathematicians" in the university. Specifically, we reinterpret the idea of mathematically training critical citizens and propose the innovative design of a university mathematics subject taught at the School of Human Sciences at a Colombian university.
