Vehicle security refers to securing the vehicle against potential thieves. Vehicle makers have been experimenting with various approaches in order to give improved security systems. The usage of GPS and GSM technology can provide security for the car. The security of a vehicle is ensured in this project by tracking its whereabouts. For the integration of the global positioning system, the EKF is widely utilised (GPS) When the system's non-linearity grows or the measurement co-variance is erroneous, the EKF’s performance deteriorates. An extended state observer is introduced for the first time to improve loosely coupled GPS navigation performance utilizing accurate measurement modeling. The RMS values of positional errors are reduced by 52.57 percent, 48.56 percent, and 34.16 percent in the north, east, and vertical directions, respectively.

Tracking systems of moving objects provide a useful means to better control, manage and secure them. Tracking systems are used in different scales of applications such as indoors, outdoors and even used to track vehicles, ships and air planes moving over the globe. This paper presents the design and implementation of a system for tracking objects moving over a wide geographical area. The system depends on the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technologies without requiring the Internet service. The implemented system uses the freely available GPS service to determine the position of the moving objects. The tests of the implemented system in different regions and conditions show that the maximum uncertainty in the obtained positions is a circle with radius of about 16 m, which is an acceptable result for tracking the movement of objects in wide and open environments.

The article continues the author's research on the toponymy of the North-East of the Sakha Republic, in particular the Kolyma river basin, in the aspect of the interaction of related and unrelated languages. The relevance of this work is defined in the description of local geographical terminology of Yukagir origin, as a valuable and important material in the further study of toponymy of the region. For the first time, the toponymy of the Kolyma river basin becomes the object of sampling and linguistic analysis of toponyms with local geographical terms of Yukagir origin in order to identify and analyze them linguistically. The research was carried out by comparative method, word formation, structural, lexical and semantic analysis. As a result of the research, phonetic and morphological features are revealed, the formation of local geographical terms and geographical names of Yukagir origin is outlined, and previously unrecorded semantic shifts and dialectisms are revealed. The most active in the formation of terms and toponyms is the geographical term iилil / eҕal 'coast‘, which is justified by the representation of the Yukagirs’ coast' home, housing

O presente trabalho, está vinculado a um projeto de iniciação científica desenvolvido junto ao Laboratório de Geoprocessamento da Universidade Regional do Cariri que tem como temática a modelagem espacial das ilhas de calor e de frescor na cidade de Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brasil. Os resultados apresentados foram obtidos através do primeiro campo do referido projeto de pesquisa e foi realizado por meio da metodologia de transecto móvel, contemplando os trajetos na direção sul-norte e oeste-leste para a coleta dos dados de temperatura do ar, com o intuito de compreender os contrastes térmicos da cidade de Juazeiro do Norte. O transecto fora realizado ainda no período chuvoso e iniciou-se às 21:00 horas, não ultrapassando 50 minutos, coletando no total a temperatura de 25  pontos distribuídos no perímetro urbano e considerando as características geoeambientais e geourbanas. Os registros foram executados utilizando um termômetro digital com sensor externo com cabo de 2m Icotem e um receptor GPS (Global Positioning System) modelo Garmin Map 76CSX para marcação das coordenadas UTM dos respectivos registros de temperatura. As maiores temperaturas, de 24,8ºC á 25,8ºC foram registradas em espaços densamente construídos, as menores, entre 22,6ºC á 23ºC foram percebidas em áreas com características rurais e menos urbanizadas.Palavras-chave: Ilha de calor. Transecto Móvel.                                                                   ABSTRACTThe present work is linked to a project of scientific initiation, together with the Laboratory of Geoprocessing of the Regional University of Cariri, whose theme is the spatial modeling of the islands of heat and freshness in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brazil. The results of the research were submitted through the mapping of the first study plan south-north and east-east to the collection of data of air temperature, with the intention. Of contracting the thermal contrasts of the city of Juazeiro of the North. Air transport is the fastest way to reach areas with no direct land routes for ambulances. This paper presents the development of a quadcopter-based rapid response unit in an efficient aerial aid system to eliminate the delay time for first aid supplies. The system comprises a health monitoring and calling system for a field person working in open areas and a base station with the quadcopter. In an uncertain situation, the quadcopter is deployed from the base station towards the field person for immediate help through the specified path using constant Global System for Mobile (GSM)- and Global Positioning System (GPS)-based connections. The entire operation can be monitored at the base station with a Virtual Reality (VR) head-tracking system supported by a smartphone. The camera installed on the quadcopter is synchronized with the operator’s head movement while wearing a VR head-tracking system at the base station. Moreover, an Infrared (IR)-based obstacle-evasion model is implemented separately to explain the working of the autonomous collision-avoidance system. The system was tested, which confirmed the reduction in the response time to supply aid to the desired locations.

From early 2003 to mid-2013, the total mass of ice in Greenland declined at a progressively increasing rate. In mid-2013, an abrupt reversal occurred, and very little net ice loss occurred in the next 12–18 months. Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) and global positioning system (GPS) observations reveal that the spatial patterns of the sustained acceleration and the abrupt deceleration in mass loss are similar. The strongest accelerations tracked the phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). The negative phase of the NAO enhances summertime warming and insolation while reducing snowfall, especially in west Greenland, driving surface mass balance (SMB) more negative, as illustrated using the regional climate model MAR. The spatial pattern of accelerating mass changes reflects the geography of NAO-driven shifts in atmospheric forcing and the ice sheet’s sensitivity to that forcing. We infer that southwest Greenland will become a major future contributor to sea level rise.

Three new Ophryotrocha species are described from sites with high levels of organic carbon flux including a whale-fall at 125 m depth off the Swedish coast and sediment sampled at 104 m depth beneath a fish farm in a Norwegian fjord. Phylogenetic analyses based on the nuclear gene H3 and the mitochondrial genes COI and 16S using MrBayes and Maximum Likelihood analyses show that Ophryotrocha eutrophila sp. nov. is a close relative to Ophryotrocha puerilis, while Ophryotrocha craigsmithi sp. nov. falls together with Palpiphitime lobifera, and Ophryotrocha scutellus sp. nov. occur within the 'hartmanni' clade. The genus Ophryotrocha is in our study monophyletic only if the genera Iphitime and Palpiphitime are included. Two representatives of Ophryotrocha previously described from anthropogenically-enriched sediments are here reported for the first time in very high abundance from a naturally occurring habitat. We suggest that whale falls are important habitats for the evolution of ecosystem services such as the degradation of complex organic compounds.

Questions were raised in the past regarding the use of Mycenaean tiles as ‘roof tiles’ on the basis of the small numbers of them recovered in excavations and their overall scarcity in Mycenaean domestic contexts. The investigation of the Theodorou plot in 2008 in the southern part of the Kadmeia hill at Thebes yielded the single and, so far, largest known assemblage per square metre of Mycenaean tiles from a well-documented excavation. This material allows, for the first time convincingly, to identify the existence of a Mycenaean tiled roof. This paper presents the results of our work on the Theodorou tiles, placing emphasis on their construction, form and modes of production, offering the most systematic study of Mycenaean tiles to date. It also revisits contexts of discovery of similar material from excavations across Thebes. Popular as tiles might have been in Boeotia, and despite their spatially widespread attestation, their use in Aegean Late Bronze Age architecture appears, on the whole, irregular with central Greece and the north-east Peloponnese being the regions with the most sites known to have yielded such objects. Mycenaean roof tiles date mostly from the mid- and late fourteenth century bc to the twelfth century bc. A study of their construction, form, production and contexts suggests that their role, apart from adding extra insulation, might have been one of signposting certain buildings in the landscape. We also present the idea that Mycenaean tile-making was guided by a particular conventional knowledge which was largely influenced by ceramic-related technologies (pottery- and drain-making). While production of roof tiles might have been palace-instigated to begin with, it does not appear to have been strictly controlled. This approach to Mycenaean tile-making may also help explain their uneven (in terms of intensity of use) yet widespread distribution.

Pseudomys nocaehollandiae is recorded for the first time from Tasmania, where it is found to occur in heath and woodland along the north-east coast. The morphological and reproductive status of the specimens collected and their habitat are essentially the same as previously recorded on continental Australia. The close relationship between the distribution of this species and the occurrence of a particular fire regime is stressed.
