Abstract. A proper navigation experience is essential while driving. A navigation device has not only to provide the driver with the right amount of information to find the ideal route (shortest, most spectacular, fastest), but also has to make driving safer. Since the driver looks at the user interface of navigation devices only for a few seconds, it is essential that the appropriate amount of information is in the right place. There are many options for drivers to navigate with: mobile phone app, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant)/PNA (Portable Navigation Assistant) or a built-in GPS Navigation System. The presented research examined the driving and navigation habits of 116 Austrian drivers by considering the differences between the devices they use.

Abstract The current trend of development of agricultural production brings heightened requirements to the quality and safety of products forcing the producers to change the technologies profoundly with providing balance between gross output of production and its safety, and maintaining the stability of agro-ecosystem. The main directions of implementation of this trend is application of technologies of precision farming which constitutes in pre-dosed and addressed fertilizing and application of chemical materials to protect plants. One of the directions of efficiency improvement in the sphere of plant protection is the application of GPS-navigation which monitors the quantity of applied liquid and moving aggregates used for herbicide application. While carrying out the study of efficiency of application of the parallel driving system with the use of GPS-navigation during the chemical weeding of barley seeds of the sort “Otra” in conditions of the Vologda region it was found out that application of the system of parallel driving allowed reducing the amount of sections with the repeated herbicide treatment. This leads to the lowering of quantity of applied herbicides and positively affects the grain crop yield providing the reduction of costs for dilution to treat more than 1, 2 times.

This article provides project managers, the cultural events organizers, a new approach to plan preparation and to the monitoring of events realization. The Dynamic Iteration Method introduced in this article is based on the system dynamic modelling and on the principles of project iterative development. The plan model and the reality model are structurally similar; they differ in values of exogenous variables. The new approach enables to easily monitor the real project course in close connection with the plan and to take timely controlling steps. The effects resulting from the manager´s decisionmaking process are compared with the plan in regular iterations. The method thus reminds of a traveller whose route is adjusted by a GPS navigation system.

Abstract Aiming at the problem of low filtering accuracy and even divergence caused by model mismatch when using extended Kalman filter in ship GPS navigation and positioning state estimation, a positioning ship state estimation algorithm based on the fusion of improved unscented Kalman filter and particle filter is proposed. Compared with the traditional particle filtering algorithm, the algorithm has two improvements: first, the algorithm uses untraced Kalman as the main framework, and uses the optimal estimation of particle updating state by particle algorithm; Secondly, in the resampling process, a resampling algorithm based on weight optimization is proposed to increase the diversity of particles. The simulation results show that not only the particle degradation degree of the particle filter is reduced, but also the particle tracking accuracy is improved.

This paper discusses the characteristics and implementation of the GPS navigation system Tracksport in the Bulgarian military orienteering championships. The real-time tracking was used to analyze the parameters of the races, the speed and the optimal route choices in the discussed orienteering military events. The research methods were observation and visualization of the data received from portable GPS-transmitters which used the available GSM-networks and their software processing for displaying real-time GPS tracking during the competitions. The contingent of the study were 41 women and 64 man who participated in the championships. The analysis reveals the necessity for GPS-tracking of such competitions and that it is an important precondition for improving their quality and understanding.

Blind people have intelligent tools to rely on for travel with the development of navigation technology. The GPS navigation, blind track, etc., are tools that blind people often use when traveling outdoors. However, indoor navigation tools and technology for blind people are lacking. We propose an obstacle avoidance algorithm and a spatial-temporal model of trajectory prediction for the indoor travel task of the blind. The focus of this work is that it enables the blind to accurately avoid obstacles and achieve high accuracy trajectory prediction aiming at the unique movement characteristics of the blind. We set up a variety of baselines to conduct an experimental evaluation on a dataset of blind trajectories in a multistorey shopping mall. The experimental results show the advantages of the data model and predictive model of this work.

Vehicle security refers to securing the vehicle against potential thieves. Vehicle makers have been experimenting with various approaches in order to give improved security systems. The usage of GPS and GSM technology can provide security for the car. The security of a vehicle is ensured in this project by tracking its whereabouts. For the integration of the global positioning system, the EKF is widely utilised (GPS) When the system's non-linearity grows or the measurement co-variance is erroneous, the EKF’s performance deteriorates. An extended state observer is introduced for the first time to improve loosely coupled GPS navigation performance utilizing accurate measurement modeling. The RMS values of positional errors are reduced by 52.57 percent, 48.56 percent, and 34.16 percent in the north, east, and vertical directions, respectively.
