Digital navigation – the combined use of satellite positioning, digital mapping and route guidance – is in wide use for road travel yet its impact is little understood. Evidence is emerging of significant changes in use of the road network, including diversion of local trips to new major road capacity and increased use of minor roads, which have problematic implications for investment decisions and for the management of the network. However, the ability of digital navigation to predict estimated time of arrival under expected traffic conditions is a welcome means of mitigating journey time uncertainty, which is one of the undesirable consequences of road traffic congestion. Abstract The highest number of road accidents occurs at junctions. One of the aims of traffic organisation is to improve traffic safety in these areas. Based on a variety of indices – road capacity, points of conflict, number, and severity of road traffic accidents – different alternatives for junctions are evaluated. However, the road network has many junctions and roads serve to travel from point "A" to point "B" at a given time. Therefore, one of the most important tasks when addressing the issue of road safety is to find a rational way of improving the safety without losing the importance of the road. The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of different junctions on the road network and basing on actual data develop a method for the evaluation of different types of junctions with respect to road class.

The main method of determining transport delay in the national methodical and educational literature is its calculation according to the methodology (formula) of F. Webster (1958), which is based on the theory of mass service. However, in conditions of high traffic congestion or traffic congestion, experimental and calculated data at simple intersections vary considerably. The definition of delays for complex intersections, in particular for the Hamburger Through-About Intersection (further HTAI) is also contradictory. The aim of the study is to improve determine the area of application of F. Webster’s formula for a little-studied roundabouts HTAI. For the first time, the paper addresses the selection of parameters of the HTAI in urban settings, and also introduces a method of calculating transport delays depending on various factors. For the purpose of the study, the hypothesis is put forward that the application of the Webster formula depends on the intensity of traffic on the main and secondary roads, the degree of loading in directions and transport demand for left-turning traffic. According to the hypothesis, on the basis of the collected data, transport delays are calculated on the HTAI from the selected factors. To justify the adequacy of calculations, the method of simulation in the Aimsun (micro-modeling) software complex is used. On the basis of in-kind surveys of section of the road network, a high-reliability simulation model was created, reflecting the current situation at regulated intersection, and also assessed the feasibility of using the HTAI on a section of the road network. There are dependencies of transport delays on traffic in the main and secondary road, effective duration of the cycle of regulation on the main road, traffic on roundabout, the diameter of the islet for the HTAI. Thus, based on the resulting mathematical model, the range of application of the Webster formula is defined, which is affected by the number of lanes for the main and secondary roads, the degree of loading in directions and the number of lanes on the ring. Further research involves the development of a methodology for calculating the parameters of the HTAI.

Abstract. Climate change leads to an increasing number of flood events that poses threats to a large share of the global population. In addition to direct effects, flooding leads to indirect effect due to damages of the road infrastructure that might limit accessibility of health sites. For disaster preparedness it is important to know how flood events impact accessibility in that respect. We analyzed this at the example of the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta based on the flood event of 2013. The analysis was based on information about the road network and health sites from OpenStreetMap. We assessed impacts of the flood event by comparing centrality indicators of the road network as well as by an accessibility analysis of health sites before and during the event. The flooded areas were home to 2.75 million inhabitants and hosted 79 clinics and hospitals. The flood split the road network into several subgraphs. The city center maintained its importance for time-efficient routing as well as for easily accessible healthcare but might be prone to traffic congestion after such an event. Indirect effects via interrupted road traffic through flooded areas affected around 1.5 million inhabitants and led to an increase of travel time to the nearest hospital by five minutes based on normal traffic conditions.

To reduce traffic incident, it is imperative to take effective measures. This paper presents a dynamic route guidance method based on capacity constrained allocation method. Firstly, it analyzes the character of capacity constrained allocation method which takes into account the right of way and traffic load characteristics and used ant algorithms to optimize algorithm. Secondly, it integrates with multi-period continuous dynamic route guidance to realize the redistribution of road traffic flow . Finally, an example is took to prove that this manner can be a perfect solution to the road traffic evens on the impact of the road traffic flow.

The article analyses the data on road traffic accidents in Lithuanian main and interurban road networks in the years 2002–2006. The road network is divided into 341 road sections. The surrounding area and road parameters of each of the sections are measured. Then, the dependence of traffic accident rate on the parameters is studied and described using linear and multiple regressions. The equations are built using 90% of the available data and tested forecasting traffic accident rate for the rest of 10% of the data comparing the obtained results with the real data.

The volume of traffic generated by land-use pattern varies during different periods of the day but there is usually a predictable pattern of such traffic volumes. Most often, the structure of urban land-use fails to provide easy and convenient traffic movement, which in the case of the study area is usually that of vehicles and pedestrian traffic. The fact is that Minna is presently experiencing rapid urban growth. Both the authorities and citizens seem to simply ignore this and its impact on human existence. The research is based on Road Traffic Network Analysis in Minna, to develop a road network map and determine the causes of Traffic Congestion in Kpakungu specifically. Quickbird satellite imagery was used in analyzing and mapping out the existing road network within the study area. Field survey aspects involving measuring of roads, traffic count, coordinates captured were also undertaken. It was discovered that the causes of the traffic pressure in the study area was as a result of the relocation of Federal University of Technology, Minna to its permanent site in Gidan Kwanu and the relocation of National Examination Council(NECO) Headquarter. Majority of the traffic pressure in the area were as a result of vehicles coming from Maikunkele, Bosso, Maitumbi, Minna central, Dutsen Kura, Chanchaga, Tunga, Sahuka-kahuta and BarikinSale going to Bida, Gidan-Kwanu or NECO office. It was concluded that alternative roads should be provided for vehicle diversion to limit the congestion of traffic on the road.

Abstract With a focus on the hot topics of traffic congestion and smog (air quality), in this study, the impact of road traffic on urban air quality was the first quantitatively analyzed based on the aerosol optical thickness (AOD) and geographical weighted regression (GWR) models, including the road network density, road area occupancy, intersection number, and bus network density. The main research conclusions are as follows. There is a strong positive correlation between the peak congestion delay index (PCDI) and air quality. Based on the GWR model, AOD has high correlations with four road network traffic characteristic parameters, and these correlations are much higher than ordinary linear regression, that is, GWR refines the local spatial changes in the AOD and the road parameters. The correlation was mainly positive. The correlation between AOD and the road area occupancy was the highest, and the correlations between PM2.5 and the density of the bus network and the number of intersections were higher than those with the road network density. Thus, bus route planning, bus emission reduction, road network planning, and signal timing (intersection) have a greater impact on air quality, especially in areas with traffic jams. This study has a certain guiding significance for traffic planning and traffic control, and it provides support and a basis for traffic planning and control.

<p><em>The roads</em><em> </em><em>transportation is an </em><em>important infrastructure as one of the land transportation infrastructures for the movement of social activities and to support economic development, specifically in Palembang City. </em><em>The population growth of Palembang City has resulted in an increase in the number of vehicles and highway users. As a result</em><em>, transportation activities in Palembang, especially at Parameswara </em><em>roads are increasing. </em><em>The impact of this, there will be heavy traffic volume, resulting in conflicts on the road, which lead to traffic accidents. </em><em>Therefore</em><em>, there will be congestion and a decrease in the performance of the road speed.</em></p><p><em>The research is conducted at Parameswara Road in Palembang that visually diminished the ability to accommodate the road traffic volume per day, accordingly the effect of traffic that occurs due to the lack of road capacity as the sequence of large volume traffic. The purpose of this study is to determine the capacity and level of road services to carried out the performance value on this road. The method used in the analysis is the Greenshield model, Greenberg, and Underwood. This study explains the maximum volume at peak hour that develop on Monday is between 1561 smp/hour and 1549 smp/hour. Whereas the lowest is around 1225 smp/hour and 1008 smp/hour that occurs on Sunday. Therefore, the analysis of service level on the research years at Parameswara Road depicts the saturated traffic conditions and low starting speed with D service index category and service level analysis at 10 years of planning time projections, the lpda result is from 2022 to 2026, The Parameswara road conditions at E and F service index categories are the traffic jam circumstances and slight speed. Abstract: This research aims to analyze the impact of Janti Flyover Construction toward the growth of layout at Janti Urban Area, including structured space, open space, and linkage. Method used for data collecting are observation, air photograph monitoring, and interview, whereas the analysis method is qualitative description, which is the superimposed method of two layers, that are the layout condition before and after flyover construction. The result shows that the impact of Janti Flyover construction can be seen on building mass (solid), the increasing number of open spaces, including the road network, parking place, and park, whereas the relation between spaces, visually and structurally, can be seen on the growth of buildings which have new shapes and styles, therefore the performance of the overall building does not have a proportional shape. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh pembangunan Jalan Layang Janti terdapat pada massa bangunan (“solid”), pertambahan ruang terbuka yang berupa jaringan jalan, parkir, dan taman; sedangkan pada hubungan antar ruang ̶ secara visual dan struktural ̶ yakni tumbuhnya bangunan dengan bentuk dan gaya baru, sehingga bentuk tampilan bangunan secara keseluruhan tidak proporsional. Continuous, automatic measurements of road traffic volume allow the obtaining of information on daily, weekly or seasonal fluctuations in road traffic volume. They are the basis for calculating the annual average daily traffic volume, obtaining information about the relevant traffic volume, or calculating indicators for converting traffic volume from short-term measurements to average daily traffic volume. The covid-19 pandemic has contributed to extensive social and economic anomalies worldwide. In addition to the health consequences, the impact on travel behavior on the transport network was also sudden, extensive, and unpredictable. Changes in the transport behavior resulted in different values of traffic volume on the road and street network than before. The article presents road traffic volume analysis in the city before and during the restrictions related to covid-19. Selected traffic characteristics were compared for 2019 and 2020. This analysis made it possible to characterize the daily, weekly and annual variability of traffic volume in 2019 and 2020. Moreover, the article attempts to estimate daily traffic patterns at particular stages of the pandemic. These types of patterns were also constructed for the weeks in 2019 corresponding to these stages of the pandemic. Daily traffic volume distributions in 2020 were compared with the corresponding ones in 2019. The obtained results may be useful in terms of planning operational and strategic activities in the field of traffic management in the city and management in subsequent stages of a pandemic or subsequent pandemics.
