In this chapter, Elina Valovirta discusses a type of romantic love explored by recent New Adult literature; the polyamorous romance. Titles, such as Two Close for Comfort (2015) and Two Billionaires for Christmas (2017) are examples of the 'reverse harem' or 'MFM menage' e-romance bracket, which capitalizes on the erotic and exotic obstacle of two male friends falling in love with - and, ultimately, sharing - the same woman. The polyamorous romance's particular way of eliciting pleasure in readers is tied with specific stylistic strategies, such as alternating first-person narrators and using the plural form in dialogue. The chapter interrogates, how these elements are repeated throughout the genre to titillate and arouse readers.

Abstract

Nowadays, the number of female characters has increased, but this is not enough to sustain that there is representation equality. The aim of this paper is to analyze two female characters in the TV show This Is Us (NBC: 2016-) in order to outline how femininity is performed into the narrative: through the heroine’s journey and the psychology of fiction characters. Heterosexual romantic love and motherhood are part of the inner transformation of the characters analyzed here, which shows us how the individual female evolution continues to be linked to both traditionally feminine issues.

This article suggests that an understanding of love which allowed for a rational discourse about human relationships was proposed at the time of the Enlightenment but was subsequently contested and replaced by an ideology of romantic love. Romantic love, far from emancipating human understanding and behaviour, trapped individuals in a narrow and often negative set of expectations and aspirations.

Speakers of Western Central German dialects frequently use the first person plural form of the possessive article unser with proper names (e. g. us Dietmar ‘our Dietmar’). But conditions of use are so far totally unclear. This paper focuses on form and use of unser with proper names in Moselle Franconian dialects. The findings are based on interviews. They show that unser is primarily used to refer to blood relatives. However, consanguinity is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for unser. In particular, its use is triggered by social closeness and the assumption of responsibility by the speaker.

Falling in love is the most phenomenal event in the history of human being.Discussion of falling in love is never finished talking about it. When lovers arefalling in love, they long for a perfect happiness in their heart. The onlypossibility to achieve this happiness is that the lovers live together as amanifestation of the unity of love. This union that is lived by them is expectedto take place in eternity. In the experience of falling in love, a couple of humanbeing, as if, live “across this world” in which they are tasting the divine life intotal happiness, perfect unity, and eternal life. Actually, the total happiness isexperienced as a partial happiness. This has the effect that the perfect unity isonly a dream because the unity is experienced in its imperfection. Furthermore, the eternity of love is only a romantic love in changing continuously. It is theexperience bringing falling in love with its serious problems. However, thosewho fall in love are really human beings who are still in their limitations.

Nitsun pioneered the positive consideration of desire and intimacy in the group and Moeller discussed the conductor falling in love himself, but apart from those authors, the group-analytic literature rarely discusses the subject of romance in groups. This article explores the positive value of the elaboration of falling in love between group members, both to the ‘couple’ and to the group as a whole. Furthermore, I argue the group’s contribution as a post-Oedipal object to its participants, which can strengthen their experience as subjects worthy of mature love and desire. I describe a vignette in which I granted the ‘couple’ the opportunity to meet once outside the group, on the condition they later reintroduce material to the group. This decision will be discussed regarding the conductor’s role in situations of romantic coupling. In addition to the view of keeping firm boundaries of the group and encouraging open discussion regarding love and desire as part of the development of the erotic self, I analyse the importance of enactments to the emergence of dissociated experiences. In this case I see my enactment as an expression of my ‘emotional participation’. In contrast to Grossmark, I claim that enactments cannot always be contained by the conductor and therefore might impact his behaviour as well as the setting.

The Acts of Thecla develop a narrative Christian counter-world to their pagan society. In this context erotic motifs are adapted and re-interpreted. It is into this framework that the description of the Apostle Paul is to be placed. In his human appearance he proves to be the antitype of the erotic lover such as depicted in the stereotypes of Greco-Roman novels. When Thecla, however, feels irresistibly attracted to him, it is his function as the mediator of Christ that attracts. Thus, Thecla's conversion to Christian faith is presented as a special act of falling in love with the Gospel.

Falling in love may begin with an inescapable, uncontrollable, transformative experience of intense emotions and intrusive thoughts, such as limerence. Romantic love researchers have tended to lump extreme love into pathology. Transpersonal psychology was chosen as the lens to examine an extreme occurrence of falling in love for its transformational and spiritual potential using a phenomenological approach. Twenty-five U.S. born participants, age 30 or older, reported experiencing a highly intense and deeply significant romantic love occurrence. Results revealed a unique experience with limited correlations to limerence. The new phenomenon is called amigeist, characterized by immediate, intense soul-mate bonding, such as secure attachment, with lifepartner potential. The larger themes were dynamic connection, secure attachment, astonishment, and passionate long-term relationships.

The discourse marker vamos is the first-person present indicative plural of the verb ir (“to go”) and acts as a guide throughout the discourse. We studied its use in the PRESEEA corpus of Granada, analyzing 54 interviews and rescuing 270 occurrences of vamos. Mainly, we detected that its use was higher in the speech of people with only a primary education, while its use among the university educated represented 27% of cases. It was also used more frequently by young people, particularly females, although only age was found to be influential because of the intrinsic and original value of the first-person plural form, by which speakers are integrated and form part of a group. Among the pragmatic values of the marker is its use as a reformulator in more than 60% of cases; 22% as a structurer that helps to continue and conclude the discourse; and approximately 13% when used as a modalizer to convey the speaker’s attitude. Its main linguistic characteristic is its appearance preceded by conjunctions such as pero and y, and its main position is initial, as it accounts for 90% of occurrences.
