The landfill is the most widely utilized approach for solid waste management over the world. The fluid side-effect of the procedure, leachate, is a genuine danger to the earth. The ordinary biological treatment of matured landfill leachate is restricted by the presence of toxic contaminants and recalcitrant organics. A novel approach for management of landfill leachate by Electro Fenton process is researched here for the technical feasibility. The experimental outcome demonstrated that there was extensive reduction in COD-78.2%, Ammonia nitrogen-42.0%, Chloride-63.5%, Sulfate-60.0%, Sulfide-57.3%, and Phosphate-62.4% at the optimum working state of pH-2.85, Current density-140.5 A/m2, H2O2 dosage- 53% of theoretical value, Reaction time-44min. The biodegradability index was enhanced from 0.21 to 0.43 because of the treatment. The examination not just uncovers the likelihood of degradation of contaminants by giving a mild electrochemical treatment additionally extends the possibility of utilizing the approach as a compelling pretreatment for its biological treatment.

Photography can be used for pleasure and art but can also be used in many disciplines of science, because it captures the details of the moment and can serve as a proving tool due to the information it preserves. During the period of the Apollo program (1969 to 1972), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) successfully landed humans on the Moon and showed hundreds of photos to the world presenting the travel and landings. This paper uses computer simulations and geometry to examine the authenticity of one such photo, namely Apollo 17 photo GPN-2000-00113. In addition, a novel approach is employed by creating an experimental scene to illustrate details and provide measurements. The crucial factors on which the geometrical analysis relies are locked in the photograph and are: (a) the apparent position of the Earth relative to the illustrated flag and (b) the point to which the shadow of the astronaut taking the photo reaches, in relation to the flagpole. The analysis and experimental data show geometrical and time mismatches, proving that the photo is a composite.

AbstractA study was conducted on the treatment of landfill leachate by combining the sequencing batch biofilm reactor (SBBR) method with the electro-Fenton method. The reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD5), and ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N) from the leachate by the SBBR method was investigated. For the electro-Fenton experiment, the changes in COD and total organic carbon (TOC) with the increase in H2O2 dosage and electrolysis time under optimal conditions were also analysed. The results showed that the average efficiencies of reduction of COD, BOD5, and NH4+ -N achieved using the SBBR method were 21.6 %, 54.7 %, and 56.1 %, respectively. The bio-effluent was degraded by the subsequent electro-Fenton process, which was rapid over the first 30 min then subsequently slowed. After 60 min of the electro-Fenton treatment, the efficiencies of reduction of TOC, COD, and BOD5 were 40.5 %, 71.6 %, and 61.0 %, respectively. There is a good correlation between the absorbance of leachate at 254 nm (UV254) and COD or TOC during the electro-Fenton treatment.

Johannes Kepler, more than anyone, incorporated music into the foundations of his innovative astronomy. This chapter relates his interest in musical practice to his novel approach to its theory, which moved him to reject algebraic results that contradicted musical experience. Kepler’s search for cosmic polyphony points to Orlando di Lasso’s In me transierunt as a moving expression of the “song of the Earth,” down to the melodic spelling of the Earth’s song. Kepler presents cosmos and music as essentially alive and erotically active, based on his sexual understanding of numbers. The pervasive dissonance of the cosmic harmonies reflects the throes of war and eros. Like Oresme, Kepler realized the essential incompleteness of the cosmic music, which seemingly could never reach a final cadence, a universal concord on which the world-music could fittingly end. This would have been a heretical view, contradicting scriptural teachings about the finitude of time. Kepler treats this as an indication of divine infinitude, inscribed in the finite cosmos. Landfill leachate is a high-strength wastewater that is most difficult to deal with because the fluctuating of composition and quality as well as high concentration of specific pollutants (PAH, PCBs, heavy metals) and very high ammonia nitrogen and COD concentrations. So, after a pre-treatment as electrocoagulation, over 73% of COD has been treated from Nam Son landfill leachate, however the output value of COD still exceeds the QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT, column B. So, an electro-fenton process was employed to secondarily treat Nam Son landfill leachate, after an electrocoagulation pre-treatment.  This electro-fenton system used a Pt gauze anode and a commercial carbon felt cathode to electrogenerate in situ hydrogen peroxide and regenerate ferrous ion as catalyst. In this study, the effects of various operating conditions such as initial pH, concentration of Fe2+ catalyst, current applied on reduction of COD in Nam Son landfill leachate were examined. At the optimal condition: applied current of 1A, pH 3, Fe2+ concentration of 0.1m M, Na2SO4 concentration of 0.05 M, 77.2% COD reduction can be reached within 60 min and the output value of COD is 130.9 mg.L-1, according to QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT, column B. The research results indicated that electro-fenton process can promise as a potential method in practice for secondary treatment of landfill leachate.

Landfill leachate has the characteristics of high ammonia nitrogen content, high concentration of organic matter and low carbon nitrogen ratio. Traditional biological treatment technology is difficult to meet the increasingly stringent emission standards. Ammonia nitrogen is the main pollutant in landfill leachate. The ammonia-nitrogen-rich leachate not only poses a threat to the surrounding environment, but also has adverse effects on the subsequent biological treatment of leachate. Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (Anammox) is a new biological denitrification technology, which has the advantages of high denitrification capacity and low energy consumption, and is suitable for the treatment of landfill leachate. This article from the process type, inhibiting factors and microbiology at home and abroad are reviewed in three aspects: the anaerobic ammonia oxidation treatment, the research progress of landfill leachate by analyzing the national environmental protection agency of leachate quality related data in the database, and combining previous research results, reveals the infiltration drain liquid ammonia nitrogen in the different conditions of concentration variation characteristics, for anaerobic ammonia oxidation treatment of landfill leachate to provide the reference for engineering applications.

There is something more catastrophic than the end of the world, especially when ‘world’ is understood as the horizon of meaning and expectation that has composed the West. If the Anthropocene is the geological period marking the point at which the earth as a living system has been altered by ‘anthropos,’ the Trumpocene marks the twenty-first-century recognition that the destruction of the planet has occurred by way of racial violence, slavery and annihilation. Rather than saving the world, recognizing the Trumpocene demands that we think about destroying the barbarism that has marked the earth.

The essay discusses selected poems from Thomas Hardy's vast body of poetry, focusing on representations of the self and the world. Employing Maurice Merleau-Ponty's concepts such as the body-subject, wild being, flesh, and reversibility, the essay offers an analysis of Hardy's poems in the light of phenomenological philosophy. It argues that far from demonstrating ‘cosmic indifference’, Hardy's poetry offers a sympathetic vision of interrelations governing the universe. The attunement with voices of the Earth foregrounded in the poems enables the self's entanglement in the flesh of the world, a chiasmatic intertwining of beings inserted between the leaves of the world. The relation of the self with the world is established through the act of perception, mainly visual and aural, when the body becomes intertwined with the world, thus resulting in a powerful welding. Such moments of vision are brief and elusive, which enhances a sense of transitoriness, and, yet, they are also timeless as the self becomes immersed in the experience. As time is a recurrent theme in Hardy's poetry, this essay discusses it in the context of dwelling, the provisionality of which is demonstrated in the prevalent sense of temporality, marked by seasons and birdsong, which underline the rhythms of the world.
