Although some studies have used or developed different types of metrics to assess construction productivity in the existing literature, few of them investigated those metrics systematically and the differences between assessment results. This study examined the various types of metrics used in the assessment of the productivity of construction projects. First, a literature review was conducted first to identify prevailing productivity metrics at four levels, namely trade, project, company, and industry. Then, the questionnaire was developed and disseminated to 53 Singapore-based construction companies for data collection. Subsequently, non-parametric statistical tests were conducted to analyze the data collected by the questionnaire. Results showed that the top five metrics in terms of usage frequency and relative importance were “constructability score”, “buildable design score”, “square meter of built-up floor area per man-day”, “square meter per dollar”, and “output per worker.” In addition, results showed that differences existed in the assessment results when productivity metrics at different levels were used to conduct the same measurement. This is the first study to explore the most widely used metrics in productivity assessments of construction projects and investigate possible differences in assessment results. This study could help the authorities to review, evaluate, and modify the productivity metrics used in practice. Thus, this study is beneficial to the practice as well.

Building the Project Mindfully: reflection on the mental health of nursing students in front of COVID-19The present experience report aims to highlight the authors’ experience in the construction of the Project Mindfully in a private university located in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The objective of this study is to point out its practical insertion, as well as, to portray the importance of a project of this magnitude in the care of the psychic health of nursing students, especially in the current context of social isolation by the pandemic of COVID-19. It is concluded that the action makes it possible to build a support network among the classmates themselves who are experiencing the same difficulties with this social isolation and alleviates situations that can maximize or trigger some type of mental disorder, such as anxiety and depression, through qualified listening, which is an important role of nurses at different levels of care.

SummaryCalves were fed continuously at 4 h intervals an adequate-P diet and were infused intravenously with a solution of phosphate supplying either 0, 3, 6 or 9 g P/day in a 4 x 4 latin-square design experiment. Once steady-state conditions were achieved, rates of flow of P at the reticulum, serum P and Ca concentrations, and urinary excretion rates of P and Ca were measured. The concentration of serum P increased significantly with increased intravenous infusion of P as also did the salivary P secretion. Results suggest that it is the serum P concentration that regulates the secretion of P through saliva. Urinary P excretion, which was low in the control group, increased significantly with increased intravenous loading of P. Substantial urinary P excretion occurred, however, only when the serum P concentration exceeded 2·30 mmol/1, which is probably the renal threshold for P. The serum Ca concentration was unaffected by the intravenous infusion of P and urinary Ca excretion remained negligible on all treatments.

This study examines whether or not different medical university students experience different levels of anxiety in taking the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT), and whether or not there are differences in GEPT test anxiety levels among medical university students with different genders and from different departments. This study uses a GEPT test anxiety scale (GEPT-TAS) to explore the GEPT test anxiety levels of the students. The final questionnaire included 36 questions, covering the cognitive, emotional, and affective dimensions of test anxiety. Several conclusions can be made from the findings of this study. First, medical university students experience certain levels of GEPT test anxiety. Second, females experience more emotional anxiety than males. Third, nursing students experience more cognitive anxiety than students from other departments.

The theoretical model book for measuring holistic critical thinking (PCH) in the teaching of the nursing diagnostic process (PDE) highlights the complexity of the PDE based on the application of the PCH of nursing students in face of the requirement of making accurate clinical decisions; in addition, it demonstrates the applicability of the Holistic Critical Thinking Scoring Rubric (HCTSR) instrument authored by professors Peter A. Facione and Noreen Facione; for the assessment of holistic critical thinking in nursing and health, becoming an important diagnostic and formative assessment tool at different levels of education, which can contribute to the advancement of nursing science with regard to the training of critical nurses and reflective in the application of the nursing diagnostic process that is structured in the stages of investigation, interpretation and nursing diagnoses with a view to making accurate nursing decisions. To reach these stages, the nurse must develop skills of holistic critical thinking (PCH), in order to make decisions focused on the best results. Based on this theoretical model, it will be possible to implement different strategies to develop holistic critical thinking in teaching the diagnostic process according to the students' PCH level.

Evidence has been reported in support of the reliability and validity of the Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy (JSPE) when used with physicians, medical students, and nurses. This study examined the psychometrics of a modified version of the scale in undergraduate nursing students. The modified version of the JSPE was administered to 333 nursing students at different levels of training. Three underlying constructs, that is, “Perspective Taking,” “Compassionate Care,” and “Standing in Patient’s Shoes” emerged from the factor analysis of the scale that were consistent with the conceptual framework of empathy, thus supporting the construct validity of the scale. The coefficient alpha was .77. Scores of the empathy scale were significantly correlated with the scores of the Jefferson Scale of Attitudes toward Physician–Nurse Collaboration (r = .38,p < .001). Women scored higher than men, and those with more clinical experiences scored higher than others. It was concluded that the empathy scale used in this study is a psychometrically sound instrument for measuring empathy in undergraduate nursing students.
