This work intends to analyze the validity of inserting the study of Geometric Transformations in Basic Education. It is based on the analysis, from the historical perspective, of the use of these transformations by man and the development of these concept by mathematicians. It intends to show that this subject can be used as an integrating content between the branches of mathematics in basic education to contextualize teaching of subjects in which students do not easily see a practical application.

Acupuncture has valuable therapeutic effects on combating pestilence based on ancient literature and practical experiences acquired during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Inner Classic of Nei Jing had laid out the principles and therapeutic methods for acupuncture applied to treat febrile diseases and special preventive treatment for pestilence as well, which was an idle sample of Cosmo-Human Correspondence doctrine of Chinese medicine. The author developed a practical protocol for acupuncture in body-resistance enhancement, symptom management, and post-pandemic care during COVID-19 outbreak. The protocol is more suitable for practicing in the western countries. Special precautions of practice during the pandemic and reopening clinic issues aftermath are also introduced.

http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/2179460X14529Develop a solid understanding of linear Diophantine equations in two variables facilitates the resolution of many problems of daily life and also the real understanding of some mathematical concepts taught in school but they seem useless and without practical application. Moreover, the relationships that these equations are established with other content that are already inserted into the basic education justify their education and become an important tool for contextualizing and interdisciplinarity. This work also aims to show the importance of teaching of rational numbers and in this context do analysis on a new concept of greatest common divisor, called generalized maximum common divisor, and thus we can use the numberpad as rational coefficients of Diophantine equations, expanding the breadth of problems solved by these equations. The creation of various practical problems of implementation of the theory studied serves to convince us of the importance of this work and to encourage their implementation and creating new problems taking into account the reality of each school and its students.

This chapter introduces the partograph as an essential tool of labour management. It describes the concept of the partograph from its historical perspective and highlights its benefits, practical application in contemporary clinical practice, and current challenges to its universal implementation. It also explores the feasibility of design and incorporation of electronic partograph into teleobstetrics to facilitate remote but skilled birth attendance as one of the ways to tackle the problems of prolonged labour resulting from inequitable distribution of maternity specialists in underserved populations. The author hopes that understanding of the basic concept of the partograph, its practical application, and barriers to its global implementation would reveal research priorities in the subject of partography and guide interested information technologists in the development of appropriate design and usage of partograph in the electronic form.

Theefforts to understand ontological meaning of Islamic education are not easy, furthermore the nature of Islamic education meaning is intended as an abstraction integrity of meaning that is accepted ideological, theoretical, and empirical. The existence of Islamic education is always in contact and grappling with the reality surrounding them. In historical perspective, the struggle between Islamic educations with socio-cultural realities faces two possibilities: influences or is influenced. The consequence is that Islamic education can be defined as a process of enculturation and or facilitation efforts (medium). If referring to the terms of Islam, Islamic education is personified to the term attarbiyah, at-ta'lim, at-ta'dib and ar-riyadah. Each of these terms has different accentuation meanings although it has the same outline. In understanding Islamic education, basic education and its goal formulation becomes noteworthy. Since the basis and purpose of demarcation will distinguish with other educations.

A investigação seguiu princípios metodológicos do Design Experiment. Simetria. Formação de Professores. Conhecimento Docente. Residência Docente.   Abstract The objectives of this work are to bring part of a research that aimed to identify and analyze the teaching professional knowledge for the teaching of geometric transformations in Basic Education and to examine the contributions of some activities focused on this knowledge. Twenty-one elementary and high school teachers from Rio de Janeiro public schools participated in the research. The research followed the methodological principles of Design Experiment. The theoretical support on teaching knowledge was based on the studies of Ball, Thames and Phelps; the works of Bulf, Grenier, and Jahn brought important references about geometric transformations. A diagnostic activity to assess knowledge about the various types of symmetry, reflection axes, and centers of rotation preceded the preparation of a set of activities that explored knowledge building on this content using from manipulative materials to Dynamic Geometry software. This article brings the data related to the diagnostic evaluation and seeks to understand, among the participating teachers, the common and specialized knowledge for teaching the geometric transformations emerging from this activity. The responses to the diagnostic activity revealed that the participants lack common and specialized knowledge, a consequence of an initial formation that had little contemplation of this content. The activities and discussions on the subject allowed the expansion of teachers' professional knowledge, especially the content knowledge.   Keywords: Geometric Transformations. Symmetry. Teacher Training. Teaching Knowledge. Teaching Residency.

In our initial publication on this subject1) we reported results demonstrating that contrast is the most important factor in producing the high image quality required for reliable image analysis. We also listed the factors which enhance contrast in order of the experimentally determined magnitude of their effect. The two most powerful factors affecting image contrast attainable with sheet film are beam intensity and KV. At that time we had only qualitative evidence for the ranking of enhancing factors. Later we carried out the densitometric measurements which led to the results outlined below.Meaningful evaluations of the cause-effect relationships among the considerable number of variables in preparing EM negatives depend on doing things in a systematic way, varying only one parameter at a time. Unless otherwise noted, we adhered to the following procedure evolved during our comprehensive study:Philips EM-300; 30μ objective aperature; magnification 7000- 12000X, exposure time 1 second, anti-contamination device operating.
