AbstractThis is the sixth article of the cycle of portraits of the members of the Editorial Board and Editorial Advisory Board of the journal Physical Culture and Sport. Studies and Research. These members are social scientists who research the issue of sport. Among them, there are many world-class professors, rectors, and deans of excellent universities, founders, presidents, and secretaries-general of continental and international scientific societies and editors of high-scoring journals related to social sciences focusing on sport. The idea of presenting portraits of individual editors of our writings has already gained recognition in the Far East. Editor-in-Chief Young Lee of the International Journal of Eastern Sports & Physical Education has decided to introduce Corner of Editors, which will also present all members of the Editorial Board.I would like to inform also that our Journal entitled Physical Culture and Sport. Studies and Research has been included into the base Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), which is a part Web of Science (WoS). The Clarivate Analytics is the base that patronizes activity of the ESCI and WoS, and continue activity of Thomson Reuters.The biography we present here in this volume of our journal refers to a scholar from USA, educationist, and manager, Robert Charles Schneider.

Abstract This is the third article of the cycle of portraits of the members of the Editorial Board and Editorial Advisory Board of the journal Physical Culture and Sport. Studies and Research, who are eminent social scientists researching the issue of sport. Among them, there are many world-class professors, rectors and deans of excellent universities, founders, presidents and secretaries-general of continental and international scientific societies and editors of high-scoring journals related to social sciences focusing on sport. The journal Physical Culture and Sport. Studies and Research started its activities in 2008 and gathered many readers, distinguished authors and outstanding reviewers. It is worth taking a moment to present the profiles of the individual editors, thanks to whom the journal keeps getting better and better. The journal is increasingly appreciated internationally particular among the scientists from the humanist and social areas of investigations. The rapidly increasing number of its readers and its surprisingly wide reception, indicated by the number of visits and downloads in English-speaking countries, including hundreds of universities (up to 791 were interested in the content of issue 62 of our magazine), research institutes and related libraries, as well as academics, researchers and students, should be celebrated. These data are derived only from one bibliographic data base (EBSCO). It must be noted that the journal is indexed in 41 bases.

Purpose – The aim of this study is to analyse the disciplinary coverage of Thomson Reuters' Book Citation Index database focusing on publisher presence, impact and specialisation. Design/methodology/approach – The authors conducted a descriptive study in which they examined coverage by discipline, publisher distribution by field and country of publication, and publisher impact. For this purpose the Thomson Reuters' subject categories were aggregated into 15 disciplines. Findings – Humanities and social sciences comprise 30 per cent of the total share of this database. Most of the disciplines are covered by very few publishers mainly from the UK and USA (75.05 per cent of the books), in fact 33 publishers hold 90 per cent of the whole share. Regarding publisher impact, 80.5 per cent of the books and chapters remained uncited. Two serious errors were found in this database: the Book Citation Index does not retrieve all citations for books and chapters; and book citations do not include citations to their chapters. Originality/value – There are currently no studies analysing in depth the coverage of this novel database which covers monographs.

We review on the literatures gleaned from science citation index expanded (SCI-EXPANED) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) database on web of science, concerning evaluation research in E-Learning system. The result indicates that the number of citation literature on this topic mainly distributes in recently 7 years, reaching climax of 30 in 2012 and then followed by 2011. The main research territory is Taiwan. And from the analysis of research area, computer science accounts for 83.3333%. Accordingly the percentage of source title as computers education is 41.667%. The related research can be classified into evaluation part of the system and evaluation the whole E-Learning system.

Este artículo compara la producción científica de Perú y Ecuador entre 2009 y 2018. Se recuperaron documentos con al menos una afiliación peruana o ecuatoriana desde el Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, Arts & Humanities Citation Index y Emerging Sources Citation Index de la base de datos Web of Science. Se evaluaron la tendencia y el crecimiento exponencial de la producción científica, se identificaron instituciones y áreas temáticas más productivas. Se estudió la estructura intelectual de la producción científica peruana y ecuatoriana mediante el análisis de acopla-miento bibliográfico de autores (AABA) y el análisis de cocitación de autores (ACA). Los resultados muestran que Perú tiene mayor producción acumulada que Ecuador. Sin embargo, Ecuador tiene mayor producción en los tres últimos años, incluso con pronóstico de seguir produciendo más que Perú. Las instituciones más productivas en ambos países son las universidades, y las categorías temáticas más productivas para Perú son salud ocupacional y ambiental y, para Ecuador son investigación educativa y ciencias ambientales.

Purpose: This review demonstrates how to position Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) papers reasonably in order to promote the reform and development of the system for evaluating social sciences research (E-SSR) in China. Design/Approach/Methods: This review examines the contributions made by SSCI papers after such papers became a tool in the E-SSR system in Chinese universities, and the resultant issues. This review analyzes documents pertaining to the E-SSR systems of more than 50 world-class universities with consideration to the inherent characteristics and historical mission of social sciences research in China. The findings serve as the basis from which to examine the future trends in the reform of the E-SSR system in Chinese universities. Findings: The application of SSCI papers as an E-SSR tool is not common in world-class universities. To date, the reform of the E-SSR system in Chinese universities has involved: (i) establishing a pluralistic evaluation mechanism, with equal importance placed on SSCI papers and other research achievements; (ii) emphasizing the need for caution in using SSCI papers as an E-SSR tool and instituting distinct treatments for various disciplines; (iii) reducing the importance attached to journal language and ranking, while emphasizing innovation quality and practical contributions; and (iv) establishing China’s E-SSR standards in order to achieve an equilibrium between internationalization and localization. Originality/Value: This review argues that although SSCI papers constitute an indicator of E-SSR system, their importance must not be overstated. The main purpose of the E-SSR system is to facilitate the development of social sciences with a style and characteristics unique to China.

<p>El objetivo del presente estudio es realizar un análisis bibliométrico de la producción científica en el deporte de fútbol sala. Para ello se utilizó la colección principal de la plataforma “Web of Science” con las bases de datos Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) y Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). La búsqueda ofreció 81 artículos de los que se analizaron las siguientes variables: 1) título; 2) nombre del autor principal; 3) institución del primer autor; 4) no de autores; 5) revista; 6) número de citas; 7) año de publicación; 8) disciplina principal del estudio; 9) tipo de estudio; 10) tamaño de muestra; 11) nivel deportivo de la muestra, 12) sexo de la muestra. En los resultados destacaron los artículos de tipo experimental, los de sexo masculino y a deportistas de nivel profesional. Respecto a las instituciones, destacan las de países con un gran auge en lo que se refiere a fútbol sala, como Brasil y Portugal.</p>

Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study is to modernize previous work on science overlay maps by updating the underlying citation matrix, generating new clusters of scientific disciplines, enhancing visualizations, and providing more accessible means for analysts to generate their own maps. Design/methodology/approach We use the combined set of 2015 Journal Citation Reports for the Science Citation Index (n of journals = 8,778) and the Social Sciences Citation Index (n = 3,212) for a total of 11,365 journals. The set of Web of Science Categories in the Science Citation Index and the Social Sciences Citation Index increased from 224 in 2010 to 227 in 2015. Using dedicated software, a matrix of 227 × 227 cells is generated on the basis of whole-number citation counting. We normalize this matrix using the cosine function. We first develop the citing-side, cosine-normalized map using 2015 data and VOSviewer visualization with default parameter values. A routine for making overlays on the basis of the map (“wc15.exe”) is available at http://www.leydesdorff.net/wc15/index.htm. Findings Findings appear in the form of visuals throughout the manuscript. In Figures 1–9 we provide basemaps of science and science overlay maps for a number of companies, universities, and technologies. Research limitations As Web of Science Categories change and/or are updated so is the need to update the routine we provide. Also, to apply the routine we provide users need access to the Web of Science. Practical implications Visualization of science overlay maps is now more accurate and true to the 2015 Journal Citation Reports than was the case with the previous version of the routine advanced in our paper. Originality/value The routine we advance allows users to visualize science overlay maps in VOSviewer using data from more recent Journal Citation Reports.
