The problems in the professional preparation of the Physical Education teacher to teach the Dance discipline in undergraduate courses are: treating the discipline only as an activity; to be absent from the University's objective, which is to train research professors and the greatest of all is the machismo prevailing in men who enter to study their careers to be sportsmen or coaches in the sport they practice. To mitigate this problem, we focus on the discipline as a source of investigation of the manifestations of dance body culture, forming research groups and using a critical historical analysis that overcomes the analysis, discussion and experience of each of the dances investigated, managing to reverse the aforementioned problems.

ABSTRACT. The legitimization of physical education at school: the body culture of movement as a language and condition for the possibility of knowledgeBACKGROUND: School Physical Education was built through different historical pedagogical influences that produced marked interferences in the school, in the pedagogical practice of professionals immersed in this context, and, consequently, contributed to a state of identity crisis in Physical Education. OBJECTIVE: In view of this scenario, the main objective of this study is to reflect on the legitimacy of Physical Education as a component of the school curriculum. METHODS: This is a theoretical essay that proposes the problematization of school Physical Education, with emphasis on pedagogical interventions on the contents of body culture of movement. Firstly, there was a reflection and discussion about the object of study of Physical Education, later about its relevance, its place of belonging in the education system as a curricular component, and finally, about its conditions of possibility of knowledge from the scientific knowledge and common sense knowledge. RESULTS: The possibility of knowledge of Physical Education and, therefore, its legitimation, will occur through the harmonization between what differentiates it and what integrates it, that is, the arrangement between different manifestations of the movement’s body culture and language. CONCLUSION: It is important to highlight that it was not intended to produce prescriptive responses, but it is necessary to produce and discuss the curricular responsibility of Physical Education as a discipline, bringing to the fore further clarifications from the representative universe of this area of knowledge. In addition, we are aware that this study will not put an end to this whole theme. On the contrary, it is a starting point for new investigations and pedagogical interventions that can explore the contents of body culture of movement in Physical Education classes.

Abstract The modern Olympic Games started with a modest, but international event in Athens in 1896, the result of a long preparation process launched by Baron De Coubertin. Some ancient elements were included, but as a whole these and subsequent Olympics were purely modern manifestations. Several classical references in the modern games were only introduced in the 1936 games which took place in a sinister Nazi Berlin. Here the organizers, in the context of a temporarily international and ‘open to the world’ national socialism, connected classical antiquity to contemporary ideology and instrumentalized ancient body culture as expressions of the ideology of Aryanism and German superiority. These claims of the Nazi games on antiquity form the subject of this contribution.

This paper discusses the transfer of knowledge between Germany and Sweden within the therapeutics of neurasthenia around 1900. The latter was a worldwide spread disease phenomenon and involved such a variance of symptoms that it is retrospectively considered a cultural condition that was strongly linked to medical fashions. As causes of transfer and change in therapeutics, cultural move- ments have been little explored in research so far. Based on the analysis of transfers and an evaluation of medical objects, the following text aims to show the entanglement between Germany and Sweden on both a sci- entific and societal level as well as their impact on the therapy of neur- asthenia. In the popularity of the Swedish medical treatment method of medicomechanics in Germany, this connection becomes particularly obvi- ous. The enhancements and imitations of the objects used in mechanical gymnastics represent a scientific transfer on the level of medicine, which took place in parallel with cultural trends, political changes and technological knowledge. The constant change which the objects of neurasthenia therapy were subject to, was marked by the paradoxical use of a technology-affine medicine to treat a technology-induced disease. With the rediscovery of naturopathic methods within the new body culture, however, the Zander apparatuses underwent an evolution. The Swedish objects have been adopted by users from merely medical technology into new contexts of action – for example, as tools for self-optimisation of the body.

Abstract Background Identifying risk factors for environmental contamination with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) is essential to prioritize methods for prevention of hospital transmission. Methods Patients admitted to an ICU with an MDRO detected on clinical culture in the prior 30 days were enrolled. Patients (4 body sites) and high-touch objects (HTO) (3 composite sites) in ICU rooms were sampled. Environmental transmission was defined by shared MDRO species cultured on patient and HTO cultures obtained on multiple time points during the patient’s stay. Risk factors for environmental transmission were identified with logistic regression. Results Forty-five patients were included (median 2 days of longitudinal sampling [IQR 1–4 days]). Enrollment anatomic cultures included extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBLE) (n=12, 27%), carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO) (n=4, 9%), methicillin-resistant S.aureus (MRSA) (n=11, 24%), vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE) (n=4, 9%), and C.difficile (CDIFF) (n=14, 31%). Patient colonization during serial sampling was common with CRO (n=21, 47%), ESBLE (n=16, 36%), and VRE (n=16, 36%) and less so with MRSA (n=7, 16%) and CDIFF (n=5, 11%). Detection of MDROs on environmental surfaces was also common with identification of CRO in 47% of patient rooms (n=21) and ESBLE in 29% (n=13); MRSA (n=2, 4%), VRE (n=9, 20%), and CDIFF (n=3, 7%) were rarer. Patient to environment transmission was observed in 40% of rooms (n=18). Thirteen (29%) rooms had foreign MDRO contamination (i.e., one not detected on a body culture), most (n=10) with CRO. Environmental MDROs were most common in bathroom/sinks (n=22), followed by surfaces near the patient (n=10), and least common surfaces often touched by staff within the room (n=6). On multivariable logistic regression, naïve to clustering by patient, recent receipt of a proton pump inhibitor (OR 2.35, 95% CI 1.00 – 5.52, P=0.049) and presence of one or more wounds (OR 2.56, 95% CI 1.05 – 6.26, P=0.038) were significantly associated with environmental transmission (OR 1.56, 95% CI 1.01 – 2.43, P=0.046) (Table 1). Conclusion MDRO contamination of patient rooms is common with detection of organisms attributed to, and foreign to, the occupant. Disclosures Michael Z. David, MD PhD, GSK (Consultant)
