Abstract In order to achieve wide-band high-resolution frequency measurement, a frequency synchronization detection method based on adaptive frequency standard tracking is proposed based on the quantized phase processing. First, the nominal value of the measured frequency signal was obtained from the rough frequency measurement module. Then, the field programmable gate array generated the nominal value of the measured frequency. After that, the direct comparison between the tracking frequency and the measured signal was carried out. Finally, the group quantized processing module gave the final result according to the phase full-period change time. Experimental results showed that the method has a wide frequency measurement range and high accuracy and can obtain frequency stability of the order of 10−13/s.

Aiming at such disadvantages of traditional frequency measurement technology as low precision and small measurement range, the combination of FPGA and MCU is applied in this paper to realize equal precision frequency measurement. The system makes full use of advantages FPGA, which has high speed and multi-I/O port, and MCU which has good man-machine interface and flexible control function. By controlling the time of enable signal allowed frequency measurement equal to integer cycles of measured signal, the frequency measurement accuracy can keep constant in the whole measurement range. The frequency measurement range of meter is 0.1 Hz~ 50 MHz, and the accuracy of frequency measurement is 10-6 Hz. In addition to measuring frequency, the system also can detect the period, pulse width and duty ratio. The simulation and experimental results show that the frequency meter has such advantages as compact structure, small volume, high reliability and precision and wide frequency measurement range.

Detection of Nitrate(NO-2) Ions Produced in Disproportionation of Nitrogen(II) Oxide in Aqueous Solution The nitrate ions (NO-2), products of disproportionation of NO in aqueous solution, were detected by an Orion Nitrite Electrode 97-46. Calibrations by means of standard NaNO2 solutions within the range 0.001÷100 ppm indicated linear dependence of EMF on ppm within 1÷100 ppm. Measurements justified the usefulness of this detection method of NO in solutions of OH- concentration lower than 10-2 mol dm-3 since at higher concentrations the EMF values exceeded the measurement range of the electrode. Occurrence of nitrate ions produced in the disproportionation reaction was additionally confirmed in dependence of OH- concentration by near UV and fluorescence spectra. The calibrated ion-selective nitrate electrode has also been shown, on the basis of Co(II)-dipeptide-OH- systems, as a useful tool in studying reversible NO uptake by Co(II) chelates in aqueous solution. Such a reaction may be regarded as simulating the harmful binding of NO by hemoglobin, where it substitutes the isoelectronic dioxygen.

AbstractThe paper describes the construction, operation and test results of three most popular interpolators from a viewpoint of time-interval (TI) measurement systems consisting of many tapped-delay lines (TDLs) and registering pulses of a wide-range changeable intensity. The comparison criteria include the maximum intensity of registered time stamps (TSs), the dependency of interpolator characteristic on the registered TSs’ intensity, the need of using either two counters or a mutually-complementing pair counter-register for extending a measurement range, the need of calculating offsets between TDL inputs and the dependency of a resolution increase on the number of used TDL segments. This work also contains conclusions about a range of applications, usefulness and methods of employing each described TI interpolator. The presented experimental results bring new facts that can be used by the designers who implement precise time delays in the field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA).
