Abstract Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute - National Research Institute (IHAR-PIB) is responsible for pathotype identification of Synchytrium endobioticum isolates collecting from Poland. Pathogenicity tests are carried out using the Glynne-Lemmerzahl method, according to EPPO Standard PM 7/28. Pathotypes are defined based on their reaction to a range of well-characterized differential cultivars of potato. Assessment of one isolate of the fungus requires more than 20 differential cultivars. All pathotypes of S. endobioticum from Polish reference collection are multiplied and maintained (fresh warts) on tubers of extremely susceptible cultivars continuously. For all references pathotypes and isolates of S. endobioticum, the compost with winter sporangia are prepared for long-term of maintenance.

Indonesian archeological research institute has been more than a century, marked by the establishment of Oudheidkundige Dienst in 1913, now become Puslit Arkenas to supervise ten of Balai Arkeologi. So with this age, archeological research institute is required to make a real contribution to the nation based on the scientific publication. Scientific journal for decades using the paradigm of the printed journal, but now with many rules imposed by LIPI and Dikti are faced with a new paradigm, that is management of ejournal. The enactment of ejournal regulations positively impact on the dissemination of Indonesian scientific journals globally. Since 2016 counted ten media ejurnal developed by the Puslit Arkenas and Balai Arkeologi have been active online. The condition of Indonesian archaeology ejournals so far have not yet reached the ideal expectations as a level of national research institute, but based on the research result in this study shows that the Indonesian archaeology ejournals have a prospect to become International journal. The result of the study also reveals that there are still some obstacles either in technical or non technical. Puslit Arkenas and Balai Arkeologi are expected to run along to developing strategy towards national accreditation in the near and road to international journal in the long term. The highest contribution of national research institute to the nation is having the research published in scientific journals recognized by one of the two International indexer institutions of high repute, the Thomson Reuters / Web of Sciene and Scopus.

Abstract The aim of the study was to gain knowledge about changes in the nival conditions prevailing in the lower part of the Babia Góra massif in the winter, during the period from 1960/61 to 2014/15. The performed analyses concerned the daily snow cover thickness in the winter seasons of the years 1960/61–2014/15, and were based on data recorded by a meteorological station established by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute (IMGW-PIB) in Zawoja (697 m altitude). The study was focused on the period from the first to the last day of the appearance of the snow cover in the season. Based on long-term measurements carried out in in Zawoja, it was found that the average length of the occurrence of snow cover with the thickness of ≥ 1 cm was 104 days, which showed variability in individual seasons that ranged from 47 days in 2013/14 to 145 days in 1993/94. It was noted that the period of snow cover occurrence was shortened – from 118 days in the decade 1960/61–1969/70 to 96 days in the recent decade (2000/01–2009/10). The potential duration of snow cover was on average 157 days. The snowiest months were February and January, when snow cover occurred for 81% and 75% of all the observation days, respectively. The largest thickness of snow cover was recorded during these two months, with the maximum of 178 cm (January 30, 1976). In contrast, snow cover was not observed in July, August and September. The studied multi-year period was characterised by high variability of the winter snowiness index: from 1.61 in 2013/14 to 8.00 in 1962/63. In the period 1960/61–2014/15, in Zawoja, there was observed the distinct periodicity (16–19 years) with regard to the number of days with snow cover, the average and total snow cover and the winter snowiness.

Abstract In 2010, the Central Institute for Labour Protection - National Research Institute celebrated the 60th anniversary of its activity. Primary objectives of the Institute have been and continue to be the protection of employees against any hazards at work stations. Among the numerous hazards, vibroacoustic ones are becoming prevailing. Therefore, one can now dare to say that the 60 years of activity of the Central Institute for Labour Protection have also meant 60 years of preventing noise and vibration in the working environment. For those 60 years of activity, Central Institute for Labour Protection has been associated with outstanding acousticians and vibration specialists. The first chairperson of the Scientific Council of the Central Institute for Labour Protection was Professor Ignacy Malecki, one of the most outstanding Polish scientists. Chairpersons of the Council have also included Professor Adam Lipowczan and Professor Zbigniew Engel and the members of the Council have included Professor Stefan Ziemba and Professor Jerzy Sadowski.

I have been working on research in data management for the last 40 years. I like my job and my research institution (Inria, the French national research institute for computer science), which have offered me great opportunities to learn a lot, do good work, get to know smart and nice people and overall feel useful. However, since the early days of my mid-career, the research environment, including academia and industry, has certainly become more complex, making the move from junior (or pre-tenure) researcher to senior researcher quite challenging. Based on my experience, I review some of the main questions and challenges and give some hints on how to deal with them. I'll sometimes use stories and anecdotes to illustrate the point.

Buckwheat research has been carried out within the long-term crop rotation stationary that was established in 1969 as a part of the Research institute of Agriculture. Buckwheat proportion within the partcular crop rotations went up to 22%. The highest buckwheat yields were obtained from the buckwheat variants that where cultivated after winter rye, and within the buckwheat monoculture experimental plots. A considerable yield decrease was observed when cultivating buckwheat after potatoes. Weeds in the buckwheat sowing were effectively brought under control by the herbicide Butisane 400 (1.5 l ha-1), applied immediately after sowing and Betanal AM 2.5 l ha-1 after seedling in 2-3 leaves stage.

The fact seems strange that thirty years elapsed between the known discovery of inscribed bones and tortoise shells near An-yang and the first systematic exploration of the site. Towards the end of 1928 digging was begun by an expedition sent by the National Research Institute of History and Philology, and partly financed by the Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian Institution. The work suffered from obstruction owing to the prevailing unrest; but several times it has been resumed, and three volumes have appeared under the title Preliminary Reports of Excavations at Anyang. These give interim accounts of the varied results which provide important contributions to history and archaeology.
