Emotional and social maturity and autonomy, physical and intelectual maturity, important for estimating children's readiness for going in elementary school, were measured. Then, the prediction of those characteristics was found, using predictor variable that describe a birth order. Subjects in research were preschool children (N=96) from the children groups in the Kindergarten "Maksimir" in Zagreb. According to results, possibility for prediction emotional and social maturity using predictor variable (birth order) was weak. However, possibility for prediction autonomy, physical and intelectual maturity using predictor variable was much better. Following results, could be presumed that is possible to predict autonomy, physical and intelectual characteristics with predictor variable (born order). But, prediction could be probably better at older subjects.

This study investigated the effect of birth order and sex on goal setting and actual performance by boys and girls of elementary school age on a ring-toss task. Children were asked to give a verbal estimate of the number of successful trials out of 10 they expected to complete. Data were analyzed by 2 (sex) × 2 (birth order) analyses of variance. Results indicated that firstborn boys set higher goals and performed significantly better than later-born boys, firstborn girls or later-born girls.

Child development can be done with environmental habits and the provision of stimulation to pre-school children. The use of gagdet has a large impact, both good and bad for everyone, especially for preschoolers with technological developments at this time. Preschool children with developmental disorders were 85,779 (62.02%). Besides pre-school children also experience emotional problems that have a negative impact on the development and readiness to go to school around 9.5% - 14.2% of children aged between zero to five years. The purpose of this study was to analyze the Relationship between the Use of Gadgets and the Independence and Social Maturity of Children in Putra Bangsa Kindergarten, Gading District. The research design used was cross sectional. Data collection used in this study using a questionnaire. Spearman Rank test results between the use of gagdet with independence and social maturity obtained p value 0,000 <α 0.05, then ha is accepted so that there is a relationship between the use of gagdet with independence and social maturity. has a value of 4.668 which means that independence has a 4,668 chance to change. While the social maturity variable in multiple logistic regression has an Exp (B) value of 2.545, from these results it can be explained that social maturity has an opportunity to increase by 2.545 times..

ABSTRACT Background: Receptive language skills are crucial for the development of cognitive and social/emotional skills. Children with social communication problems are at risk of failure in the academic field, difficulty forming friendships, and social exclusion. This study aimed to examine the association between receptive language skill and social communication skill among preschool children. Subjects and Method: This was a cross sectional study conducted in Surakarta, Central Java, in January 2020. A sample of 200 pre-school children was selected by simple random sampling. The dependent variable was social communication. The independent variables were receptive language skill, parenting style, gender, and birth order. The data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by a multiple linear regression. Results: Good social communication increased with good receptive language skill (OR= 3.21; 95% CI= 0.01 to 0.04; p= 0.002), first birth order (OR= 3.71; 95% CI= 0.79 to 1.47; p<0.001), democratic parenting style (OR= 5.21; 95% CI= 0.09 to 0.20; p<0.001), and female gender (OR= 5.23; 95% CI= 0.89 to 1.97; p<0.001). Conclusion: Good social communication increases with good receptive language skill, first birth order, democratic parenting style, and female gender. Keywords: social communication, receptive language skill Correspondence: Nadya Susanti. Masters Program in Public Health, Universitas Sebelas Maret. Jl. Ir.
