Characterized by its light weight, high strength, and good flexibility, round bamboo is a natural functional biomaterial with a multi-level structure. Cracking is a key factor hindering its wider application. Moisture changes cause cracking when the round bamboo is dried. Therefore, studying moisture variations in the drying process of round bamboo can effectively reduce or solve the cracking problem. In this study, microwave drying with computer tomography (CT) imaging technology was used to understand the distribution and migration of moisture in round bamboo in the course of drying. The results indicated that water content has a significant correlation with the CT value, which can be used to achieve rapid determination of water content. The radial water content of samples gradually decreased from bamboo green (outer) to bamboo yellow (inner). The axial water content was high in the middle and low on both ends. As the water content decreased, the axial moisture distribution was consistent. The internode moisture mainly moved from the junction of bamboo yellow and bamboo partition, entered the adjacent cavity, and then gradually moved outward. Thus, the microwave drying method can effectively achieve industrial drying of round bamboo and prevent cracking.

The article dwells on the problem of teenagers' professional self-determination as the readiness to making choice of the profession. Psychological factors of professional self-determination of high school students are defined and theoretically substantiated. Psychological properties are investigated, the means of which is the formation of factors of senior school students’ professional self-determination. In our research by professional self-determination we mean a stable, value-oriented complex of professionally important traits and personality traits, which is characterized by a certain structure, determines the readiness of high school students to choose a profession and is formed by a number of psychological factors. We prove that the set of psychological factors of professional self-determination of high school students has a nonlinear character and multi-level structure. The purpose of the publication is to investigate the psychological factors of professional self-determination and to substantiate the need to introduce a program of psychological and pedagogical support for the development of professional self-determination of high school students. As a result of the research psychological factors of professional self-determination of high school students were established: actual motives; sufficient level of development of volitional regulation of personality; locus control; a sufficient level of the formation of reflectivity development. The conducted psycho diagnostics revealed the immaturity of psychological factors of professional self-determination among high school students; unreadiness of teenagers to make an independent, conscious professional choice. This situation requires targeted correction through the introduction of a program of psychological and pedagogical support.

Water content in plants is one of the most common biochemical parameters limiting efficiency of photosynthesis and crop productivity. Therefore, it has very important meaning to predict the water content rapidly and nondestructively. The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility of detecting the water content in the leaf using the diffuse reflectance spectra limited in the VIS/NIR region (400–1100 nm), which could be used to determine other biochemical parameters such as chlorophyll and nitrogen content. The experiment with leaves in different water stress was conducted. The statistical test result indicated that the determination of water content in leaf could be successfully performed by VIS/NIR spectroscopy combined with chemometrics method. The performances of different pretreatment methods were compared. The model with best performance was obtained from the first derivative spectra. In order to make the calibration model more parsimonious and stable, a hybrid wavelength selection method was proposed to extract the efficient feature wavelength. Under the optimal condition, an RMSEP of 0.73% with 25 variables was obtained for water content prediction using extern validation. The conclusions presented could lead to the development of portable instrument for synchronous detecting water content and other biochemical parameters rapidly and nondestructively.

The diffusion-controlled transport of ions and molecules through polymer membranes utilized in chemical and biosensors is often the key factor determining the response characteristics of these sensors. A simple voltammetric method utilizing a planar electrochemical cell allows the rapid determination of diffusion coefficients in resistive polymer membranes.
