The species of Liza tade were collected from Mawlamyine, Mon State, Myanmar during June 2018 to May 2019. The analysis of fishes was based on 1264 specimens ranging in size from 10 to 30cm and in weight from 15 to 190g. The length-weight relationship of L. tade was determined for males, females and combined sexes as W=0.016L2.82, W=0.016L2.84 and W=0.016L2.83 respectively. The samples have been found to be negative allometric growth pattern (b˂3). The results indicated that the value of correlation coefficient (r) for males, females and combined sexes were as 0.972, 0.975 and 0.973, which were closer to 1 indicating that the length-weight relationship was highly correlated. The condition factor (K) was recorded as 1.088 for males, 1.140 for females and 1.114 for all individuals respectively.

The study was carried out to determine length-weight relationship and sex ratio of a freshwater fish Amblypharyngodon mola (Hamilton 1822) collected from Dekar haor of Sunamganj district during the period of January to August 2017. A total of 2000 fishes were collected for the study and categorized these fishes into three groups namely males, females and combined sexes. Among 2000 mola 777 were male and 1223 were female. Length-weight equations and the correlation coefficients obtained for males, females and combined ones were: males Y = –1.97 + 3.00X, r = 0.883; females Y = –2.30 + 3.41X, r = 0.914 and combined Y = –2.11 + 3.16X, r = 0.904. Female’s A. mola attained more weight with the increases in length. Value of correlation coefficient ‘r’ was 0.883 for male and exhibited highly positive correlation between length and weight. On the contrary, ‘r’ value for female was 0.914 and it had also strongly positive correlation between length and weight relationships. Length-weight relationship of A. mola for male, female and combined sexes showed allometric pattern of growth. Condition factor ‘K’ for male, female and combined sexes was 1.09, 1.05 and 1.06, respectively and indicated better condition of fishes. The highest sex ratio (1 : 2.05) was found in May and the lowest (1 : 1.33) was in February. Dominance of females over males throughout the year was observed with an average ratio of male and female 1 : 1.57. Therefore, results of the study indicate that the existing hydrobiological conditions of the haor are conducive for food availability, free movement, feeding and better growth of the fish. Asiat. This study was carried out to evaluate the length-weight relationship, growth pattern and condition factor of the Silver catfish Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus from the Lower River Benue Makurdi, Nigeria. A total of 200 freshly caught specimens of C. nigrodigitatus were collected between July 2013 and September 2013 from the catches of the artisanal fisheries at landing points in Wadata Market, Makurdi. Results obtained showed that the “b” value for the males was 1.6067 while that of the females was 1.6791 and combined sexes 1.7371, indicating a negative allometric growth for this species. Correlation coefficient (r) obtained for males (0.9651), 0.9517 (females) and 0.9329 (pooled sexes) showed a positive significant relationship between length and weight of C. nigrodigitatus. Monthly mean condition factor (K), indicate that C. nigrodigitatus were in good physiological health condition. In conclusion, the baseline data on the length-weight relationship, condition factor of C. nigrodigitatus from the lower River Benue provided in this study is crucial in the sustainable management of this species in the River. Also, these findings will be useful in evaluating the population dynamics, stock and the aquaculture potential of C. nigrodigitatus for future purpose.

The Research about the food habits and length-weight relationship of Labiobarbus leptocheilus Valenciennes was conducted from May to September 2010. The aims of this research were to find out the food habits and to analyze the growth pattern of Labiobarbus leptocheilus Valenciennes. The sampling of fishes was conducted on May 2010 in the Gajah Mungkur Reservoir, Central Java. The sampling of fishes was conducted by using survey on the landing place of fishes (TPI Mina Tirta). The methods of analysis of food habits by using the Index of preponderance. The results of this research obtained were 19 samples of Labiobarbus leptocheilus Valenciennes, the length between 15-20 cm, with the weight between 40-90 grams. Labiobarbus leptocheilus Valenciennes had the negative allometric growth pattern (b <3). The laboratory analysis of food habits showed that the food habits of Labiobarbus leptocheilus Valenciennes were detritus with Index of Preponderance (IP) 82.95% and plankton with IP 17.05%.Keywords: food, habits, length-weight, relationship, Labiobarbus leptocheilus

The length – weight relationship (LWR), condition factor (K), sex ratio, gonadosomatic index (G S I) and hepatosomatic index (H S I) of 412 specimens of Pseudotolithu s s enegalensis (Valenciennes, 1833) from Tombo , a coastal fishing community in the western rural district of Sierra Leone were studied for twelve months . Samples used for the study were collected from the catches of artisanal fishers and measurement s of length and weight of samples were done in situ using the facilities of the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources. Samples for the reproductive study were preserved in an ice box and taken to the laboratory of the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Njala University , Sierra Leone for analysis. The parameters "a" and "b" of the length - weight relationship were estimated using the equation described by Ricker ( W = aL b ) while the condition factor was calculated using Fulton`s equation (K = W1 00 / L 3 ) . The reproductive biology of the fish was estimated using Gonadosomatic index ( GSI ) and Hepatosomatic index ( H S I ) . The combined LWR for both sexes showed that a, b and r values were – 2.57 , 3. 3 5 and 0. 899 , respectively. The r – values obtained show a strong linear relationship between the length and weight of the species. The length - weight relationship indicated allometric growth for P . senegalensis in the study area. The condition factor (K) varied from 0.64 – 1.0 ; this may be attributed to environmental conditions of the water . The species clearly exhibited a positive allometric growth pattern ( tα ( 2) , 0.05, 411 > 1.965) . The sex ratio of males to females was 1:1. 15 and was not significantly different from the expected 1:1 ratio. Estimation of GSI and HSI was carried out from December, 2010 to May, 2011 to determine the spawning behaviour of P. senegalensis . The mean GSI obtained indicate d that March and April , respectively are the two peak spawning period for the species . Gonado somatic index ranged between 1.1 % and 2.8% for the females. The results of this study revealed that P. senegalensis doe s not have obligatory spawning month but exhibit multiple spawning behaviour. T he length - w eight relationships and condition factor of the study indicated that the fish were thriving very well in the coastal water of Sierra Leone. Sustainable management of the species , therefore , require s that the environment be protected against anthropogenic pollution and imposition of closed fishing season especially during the t wo peak spawning period is recommended to enable the species recruit effectively.

Abstract The length-weight relationship and condition factor of Sphyraena afra from the Lagos coast (LC) and the Lagos lagoon complex (LLC) in the coastal waters of Lagos State were studied for a period of two years. Parameters a and b of the length-weight relationship were estimated using the equation W = a x TLb, while the condition factor was calculated with the equation K = 100 x BW x TL-3. The relationships of fish condition factor and body length, sex, and seasons in Lagos coastal waters were determined. The species exhibited negative allometric growth (b < 3, P < 0.05) for males, females, and combined sexes with the length exponent (b) ranging from 2.72 to 2.85. Correlation coefficient r ranged from 0.89 to 0.98. The allometric growth values obtained in LC and LLC from the length-weight relationship indicated that the fish species exhibited increases in length rather than in weight. The overall mean condition factors (K) for S. afra from the LC and the LLC were 0.97 ± 0.11 and 1.17 ± 0.12, respectively. The mean condition factors of females were higher than those for males at most of the sampling stations, and S. afra was observed to be in better condition during the dry season.

The study aims to figure out growth pattern and condition factor of the flying fish (Decapterus russelli) landed at the Fish Landing Base Tenda, Hulonthalangi District, Gorontalo City. Sampling of 360 layang fish was carried out randomly based on a simple random sampling method for three months. Determination of fish sex was conducted visually by dissecting samples and observing the gonads. The study showed that the layang fish (D. russelli) landed in PPI Tenda had a positive allometric growth pattern with condition factor values ranging from 1.005 to 1.014 and 1.002 to 1.620 for male and female, respectively

Schizothorax curvifrons, an indigenous cyprinid fish of Kashmir, forms an important coldwater fishery resource of the valley. This study was aimed to describe the morphometrics and length-weight relationship of S. curvifrons in River Jhelum Kashmir. The various morphometric characters showed high co-efficient of correlation (r) values, indicating that the characters were highly correlated to each other. The length-weight relationship was established logarithmically as Log W = -3.9323 + 2.5863 Log L (r2=0.746) for males, Log W = -4.1708 + 2.6852 (r2=0.745) Log L for females and Log W = -3.9975 + 2.6138 Log L (r2=0.746) for pooled data. The b value (2.6138) was found to be significantly different from 3 indicating negative allometric growth.

The length-weight relationship of a newly described catfish Pangasius silasi Dwivedi et. al., 2017 was studied from 88 specimens collected from the native distribution range of the species i.e. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, Telengana, India. The total length and weight of the sampled fishes ranged from 290 to -590 mm and 240 to 2300 g respectively. Results of regression analysis showed that the regression coefficient (r²) values varied from 0.985 to 0.989. The average condition factor observed was 1.04 and 0.98 for males and females respectively. Positive allometric growth and condition factor of the species indicated the potential of the species for aquaculture. The information generated will also be useful in sustainable management and conservation of the species in natural waters.

The Length-Weight Relationship (LWR), Condition factor (K) and feeding habits of Synodontis clarias (Linnaeus, 1758) were investigated over a 24 month period from January, 2009 - December, 2010. A total number of 163 specimens comprising of 74 females and 89 males with the size range of 7.60 – 20.00cm and the mean of 12.72± 0.258cm were investigated. The weight ranged from 13.12 – 607.30g with the mean of 65.83± 0.897g. The LWRs for the females, males and combined sexes had the r values of 0. 8415, 0.9463 and 0.8703 respectively. The mean condition factor K was 3.3667, 2.6868 and 2.9954 for the females, males and combined sexes respectively. The regression coefficient b was 1.9408, 1.8799 and 2.1359 for the females, males and combined sexes respectively indicating negative allometric growth pattern for the species. Out of the 163 stomachs examined for food items, 88 (53.99%) were empty while 75 (46.01%) contained a wide range and varying quantities of food items indicating that S.clarias in River Benue is omnivorous.

This study is aimed to determine length-weight relationship and condition factor of common ponyfish in Pabean Bay, Indramayu. The study was carried out for one year, from April 2016 to March 2017. Fish collection were caught using gillnet and set net. total of 154 individual fishes were caught, the fish samples ranged from 18 - 141 mm in length and 0.05 – 41.35 g in weight. The length-weight relationship of ponyfish throughout a year was W = 7x10-06 L3,1983. The result indicated that the growth pattern of fish was positive allometric. The relative condition factor of ponyfish was varied from 0,67 – 1,42 AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan hubungan panjang bobot dan faktor kondisi ikan petek yang ada di Teluk Pabean, Indramayu. Penelitian dilaksanakan selama satu tahun dari bulan April 2016 hingga bulan Maret 2017. Ikan contoh ditangkap dengan menggunakan alat tangkap yaitu jaring insang dan sero. Jumlah ikan yang tertangkap seba-nyak 154 ekor dengan kisaran panjang total 18 - 141 mm dan bobot 0,05 – 41,35 g. Hubungan panjang-bobot ikan petek sepanjang tahun 2016 adalah W = 7x10-06 L3,1983. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pola pertumbuhan ikan bersifat alome-trik positif. Faktor kondisi ikan petek berfluktuasi berkisar antara 0,67 – 1,42.
