Juncales is an order of vascular plants with cosmopolitan distribution. Two families of Juncales are present in flora of Ukraine: Juncaceae and Cyperaceae. Through 1985–2021, we conducted comprehensive revision of Juncales in Ukraine. The aim of this research was to compile a checklist of Juncales species in the flora of Ukraine. Our research is based on herbarium materials, literature data and field trips. We collected data in many herbariums of Ukraine and other countries. Our understanding of the taxa was further supplemented by field observations in mountainous (Carpathians and Crimea) and plain territories of Ukraine. Also, we collected information about Juncales species from numerous literature sources. For each taxon, we provided nomenclatural citation and basic synonyms. According to our data, the order Juncales in the flora of Ukraine contains 188 species, belonging to 19 genera. Lists of Juncales species can be found in many thorough publications. For a long time, Checklist of Mosyakin & Fedoronchuk (1999) was the main list in the nomenclature of vascular plants in Ukraine. To date, many nomenclature and taxonomic changes have been accumulated. For example, we accept genera Schoenoplectiella and Oreojuncus here. Researchers have found many new species for the territory of Ukraine. This information can be found in numerous publications, but is fragmented. Therefore, we have compiled an updated summary of the Juncales species. In Ukrainian territory, Juncales species are considered both widespread and rare. We refer to the rarest species Carex alba, C. bicolor, C. bohemica, C. brunnescens, C. buxbaumii, C. depauperata, C. fuliginosa, C. globularis, C. heleonastes, C. lachenalii, C. loliacea, C. obtusata, C. pediformis, C. rupestris, C. strigosa, Cyperus longus, Eleocharis multicaulis, E. oxylepis, Fimbristylis bisumbellata, Juncus acutiflorus, J. soranthus, J. subnodulosus, Isolepis setacea, Luzula spicata, Schoenoplectus pungens, Trichophorum alpinum, T. cespitosum. Also, the following species are rare: Bolboschoenus yagara, Carex chordorrhiza, C. davalliana, C. dioica, C. hostiana, C. pauciflora, C. secalina, C. vaginata, Cladium mariscus, Eleocharis carniolica, Juncus capitatus, J. castaneus, J. littoralis, J. sphaerocarpus, J. thomasii, J. triglumis, Luzula alpinopilosa, L. sudetica, Schoenoplectiella mucronata, Schoenus ferrugineus.

In Paepalanthus ser. Dimeri, one of the few groups of Eriocaulaceae with dimerous flowers, the poorly understood circumscription of Paepalanthus elongatus and its numerous infraspecific taxa challenge the delimitation of the remaining taxa and distorts the group’s actual diversity. In order to clarify the taxonomy of the group in central Brazil, nomenclatural and taxonomic changes are proposed. Paepalanthus cassiae is described based on specimens usually misidentified as P. elongatus, as well as specimens collected on recent field trips. The new species is easily distinguished from P. elongatus by its smaller habit, dark castaneous leaf sheath, and golden to pale straw-colored involucral bracts, twice as long as the floral disc. Paepalanthus longibracteatus and P. niger are raised to species status based on P. elongatus varieties briefly described by Harold Moldenke. Detailed descriptions are provided for these species. The three species detailed occur in the vicinities of the recently extended Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park. Details of the species’ etymology, distribution, biology, conservation status, and morphological variation, along with illustrative photographs, are provided. Paepalanthus elongatus var. glabrescens is treated as a new synonym of P. elongatus var. elongatus.

A new species list of plants and lichens of Russia and neighboring countries has been developed for Turboveg for Windows, the program, intended for storage and management of phytosociological data (relevés), is widely used all around the world (Hennekens, Schaminée, 2001; Hennekens, 2015). The species list is built upon the database of the Russian website Plantarium (Plantarium…: [site]), which contains a species atlas and illustrated an online Handbook of plants and lichens. The nomenclature used on Plantarium was originally based on the following issues: vascular plants — S. K. Cherepanov (1995) with additions; mosses — «Flora of mosses of Russia» (Proect...: [site]); liverworts and hornworts — A. D. Potemkin and E. V. Sofronova (2009); lichens — «Spisok…» G. P. Urbanavichyus ed. (2010); other sources (Plantarium...: [site]). The new species list, currently the most comprehensive in Turboveg format for Russia, has 89 501 entries, including 4627 genus taxa compare to the old one with 32 020 entries (taxa) and only 253 synonyms. There are 84 805 species and subspecies taxa in the list, 37 760 (44.7 %) of which are accepted, while the others are synonyms. Their distribution by groups of organisms and divisions are shown in Table. A large number of synonyms in the new list and its adaptation to work with the Russian literature will greatly facilitate the entry of old relevé data. The ways of making new list, its structure as well as the possibilities of checking taxonomic lists on Internet resources are considered. Review of specimens and names of Faramea Aubl. (Rubiaceae, Coussareeae) has required new nomenclatural combinations, clarified the identities of some previously described species, and discovered some new taxa. Here we transfer two Faramea names, F. suaveolens Duchass. and F. panurensis Müll. Arg., to Coussarea Aubl.; review the identities of F. cuencana Standl., F. multiflora A. Rich., F. oblongifolia Standl., F. parvibractea Steyerm., F. spathacea Müll. Arg. ex Standl., and F. suerrensis (Donn. Sm.) Donn. Sm.; lectotypify F. multiflora and F. panurensis; transfer to Faramea and lectotypify Rudgea scandens K. Krause; and describe 13 new species and two new subspecies: F. camposiana C. M. Taylor of Ecuador and Peru, F. foreroana C. M. Taylor of Colombia, F. fosteri C. M. Taylor of western South America, F. galerasana C. M. Taylor of Ecuador, F. grayumiana C. M. Taylor of Central America, F. kampauicola C. M. Taylor of Ecuador and Peru, F. neilliana C. M. Taylor of western South America, F. premontana C. M. Taylor of Ecuador, F. quijosana C. M. Psychotria subg. Heteropsychotria Steyerm. has been shown by morphological and molecular analyses to be polyphyletic. Most of its species, including its type, belong to Palicourea Aubl. (“Pal.”). Thirty-two species of this group are reviewed here, and 17 species in Psychotria L. are transferred to Palicourea and one to Rudgea Salisb. Two replacement names, Pal. agudeloana C. M. Taylor and Pal. tabayensis C. M. Taylor, are published. Taxonomic studies here clarify circumscriptions of similar, often-confused species for several distinctive species groups found variously in Mesoamerica and the Andes: the Palicourea aschersonianoides group, the Palicourea galeottiana group, the Palicourea sulphurea group, and the Palicourea tristis group. Three new species of Palicourea are described: Pal. aschersonianula C. M. Taylor, Pal. gonzaleziana C. M. Taylor, and Pal. wachterae C. M. Taylor. Nineteen names are newly typified, and infrageneric classifications are noted for the species of Palicourea studied.

A região Nordeste do Brasil vem sendo alvo de medidas do Estado a mais de um século, na tentativa de solucionar o problema da falta de água em época de secas. O Estado do Ceará, por sua vez, apresenta boa parte de seu território inserido no semiárido brasileiro, uma região caracterizada pelo clima seco, com poucas chuvas e elevada evapotranspiração. A problemática da água existe há bastante tempo, principalmente o acesso em quantidade e qualidade suficientes para atender a população. O presente trabalho tem como tema central a questão dos recursos hídricos, com enfoque no abastecimento humano do município de Cariré, localizado na região noroeste do Ceará. Nosso objetivo consiste em apresentar um panorama de como atualmente a população carireense tem acesso à água potável. A metodologia adotada constitui-se em duas etapas: na primeira, realizamos levantamento de material bibliográfico e a segunda diz respeito a parte prática realizada em saídas a campo. Segundo a ONU, a água é um bem comum e que deve ser de acesso a todos, é um direito humano. Nesta perspectiva, o gerenciamento adequado dos recursos hídricos é essencial para a manutenção da qualidade de vida. Palavras-chave: Recursos Hídricos; Abastecimento Humano; Cariré-Ce. ABSTRACTThe pnortheast region from Brazil has been subject of measures for more than a century in attempts to solve the problems lack of water in dry season. The state of Ceará has a good part of its territorial inserted in Brazilian semiarid, a region characterized by dry climate, short rains and high evapotranspiration. The water issue has existed for a long time, mainly in a sufficient access of quantity and quality to serve the population. Then, this article has as a central theme the water resources focusing on water supply of the Cariré localized at Northeast region from Ceará. Therefore the purpose of the paper is to present a study about how the Carire’s population has had access to potable water currently. The methodology adopted to this research consists of two stages: Firstly it was carried out a survey of bibliographical material and secondly it concerned the practical part carried out in the field trips. In accordance to United nations, water is a commom good and it has to be available to everyone, it is a human rights. In that sense, the proper management of water resources is essential to keep the quality of life.Key-words: Human supply; Water resources; Cariré – Ce. RÉSUMÉLa région du nord-est du Brésil est la cible de mesures prises par l’État depuis plus d’un siècle pour tenter de résoudre le problème de la pénurie d’eau en saison sèche. L’État du Ceará, en revanche, présente une bonne partie de son territoire inséré dans le semi-aride brésilien, région caractérisée par un climat sec, avec peu de pluies et une forte évapotranspiration. Le problème de l'eau existe depuis longtemps, principalement l'accès en quantité et qualité suffisantes pour satisfaire la population. Le travail actuel a pour thème central la question des ressources en eau, en mettant l'accent sur l'approvisionnement humain de la municipalité de Cariré, située dans la région nord-ouest du Ceará. Notre objectif est de présenter un aperçu de la façon dont la population carioca a actuellement accès à l’eau potable. La méthodologie adoptée comporte deux étapes: dans le premier, nous procédons à une enquête sur le matériel bibliographique et le second à la partie pratique réalisée lors des visites sur le terrain. Selon l'ONU, l'eau est un bien commun et doit être accessible à tous, c'est un droit humain. Dans cette perspective, la gestion adéquate des ressources en eau est essentielle au maintien de la qualité de la vie.Mots-clés: Ressources en eau; Approvisionnement humain; Cariré-Ce.

A new species in the Old World genus Debregeasia (Urticaceae), D. australis Friis, Wilmot-Dear & C.J.Chen, based on material from forest habitats in eastern Queensland, Australia, is described, illustrated and mapped. A new synopsis of the genus and a new key to species recognised is provided as a supplement to the revision of Debregeasia by C. M. Wilmot-Dear in 1988. Debregeasia orientalis, described from China since 1988, is accepted, species from China and Bangladesh (D. elliptica and D. dentata) are reinstated, and other taxonomic changes made since the revision of 1988 are summarised.

This paper provides the first comprehensive summary of the Notodontidae fauna of the Maputo Special Reserve in southern Mozambique listing 51 species. Four species are described as new to science (Thacona smithi László & Schintlmeister sp. n., Arciera meridiana László & Schintlmeister sp. n., Leptolepida krugeri László & Schintlmeister sp. n., Thaumetopoea latinivea László & Schintlmeister sp. n.) and 23 species are recorded as new country records. Several taxonomic changes are made: the genus Arciera Kiriakoff, 1962 is reinstated and a lectotype is designated for Turnaca grisea Holland, 1893; Thacona pinheyi is transferred to the genus Subscrancia Gaede, 1928 (Subscrancia pinheyi (Kiriakoff, 1965) comb. nov.); and Hoplitis gigas Distant, 1899 is reinstated from synonymy to species rank (Amyops gigas (Distant, 1899) stat. rev.). 106 colour and 40 black and white diagnostic figures are provided including the hitherto unknown females of Archistilbia mlawula Schintlmeister & Witt, 2015 and Eurystauridia iphis Kiriakoff, 1968.

In preparation for a general account of the Notodontidae of Trinidad and Tobago, the following taxonomic acts are required. Apella [sic] ovalis Rothschild, 1917 (Notodontidae) is transferred to the combination Lephana ovalis (Rothschild) comb. nov. (Erebidae, Anobinae). Crinodes insularis Rothschild, 1917 stat. nov. is removed from synonymy with C. fuscipennis Rothschild, 1917. Oligocentria brunnipennis Kaye, 1923 stat rev. is reinstated as a valid species. The following are new synonyms: Anoba suffusa Hampson, 1924 syn. nov. of Lephana muffula Guenée, 1852 (Erebidae, Anobinae); Farigia xenopithia Druce, 1911 syn. nov. of F. magniplaga Schaus, 1905; Oligocentria guianensis Thiaucourt, 2015 syn. nov. of Oligocentria brunnipennis Kaye, 1923; Skaphita aroensis (Schaus, 1901) and S. sexnotata (Kaye, 1925) syn. nov. of S. cubana (Grote, 1865). The holotype of S. kalodonta (Kaye, 1923) is recognised. Skaphita indirae sp. nov. is described from Trinidad.

A description of its life-history, based on extensive field observations and laboratory studies, is also provided. The moth, its male and female genitalia and the damage caused by the larva are illustrated.

Background and aims – As “islands in the sky” of northern South America, the isolated ecosystems of the Pantepui province include a distinct flora with high levels of endemism and which are ancestral areas for many angiosperm lineages. About one fifth of Pantepui angiosperm species are distributed in Poales, a highly diverse angiosperm order.Methods – Recent field trips were carried out on two Brazilian tepuis, by foot and helicopter. Herbarium collections were consulted and compared with the proposed new species. Key results – Four new species of Poales, three Navia Schult. & Schult.f. (Bromeliaceae) and one Paepalanthus Mart. (Eriocaulaceae) were found. Descriptions, illustrations, and distribution maps of the new species, as well as an identification key to Brazilian Navia species, are provided.
