The aim of this study was to longitudinally investigate the association between resilience and mental health in older adults and to determine the influence of physical activity on this relationship. A total of 291 older adults were included in a 2-year follow-up study. Adjusted linear regression models evaluated the association between resilience at baseline and mental health after 2 years in sufficiently and insufficiently physically active older adults. A negative correlation was found between resilience at baseline and depression, anxiety, and stress after 2 years for the overall sample. This association changed after stratifying the group. Sufficiently physically active individuals made greater use of the resilience components “Self-Sufficiency” and “Perseverance,” whereas insufficiently physically active individuals made greater use of “Meaning of Life” and “Existential Singularity.” Physical activity can influence the relationship between resilience and mental health. These results can help guide the devising of more effective interventions for this age group.

In 2019, the government planned to achieve sugar self-sufficiency to meet domestic sugar needs. One type of sugar that is most consumed is granulated sugar. In Indonesia, various models, prices, and sizes of sugar are marketed. Competition for producers in selling their products is getting tighter, so they need to understand the criteria that influence consumers in buying granulated sugar. Research on sugar has been conducted, but until now, research on determining the criteria for sugar products has never been conducted. Many factors are the criteria for choosing sugar to be selected by consumers. To find out what alternatives and criteria are preferred by consumers, the method of Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) is used. AHP method consists of several stages that are: hierarchy determination, evaluation of criteria and alternatives, Synthesis of priority, logical consistency, and preference value. From the results of calculations that carried out, it was found that the quality and taste were the highest criteria as a reference for choosing sugar brands.

Declining costs for high-performance batteries are leading to a global increased use of storage systems in residential buildings. Especially in conjunction with reduced photovoltaic (PV) feed-in tariffs, a large market has been developed for PV battery systems to increase self-sufficiency. They differ in the type of coupling between PV and battery, the nominal capacities of their components, and their degree of integration. High system performance is particularly important to achieve profitability for the operator. This paper presents and evaluates methods for a uniform determination of PV battery system performance. Already the requirement analysis reveals that a performance comparison of PV battery systems must cover the efficiency and effectiveness during system operation. A method based on a derivation of key performance indicators (KPIs) for these two criteria through an application test is proposed. It is evaluated by comparison to other methods, such as the System Performance Index (SPI) and aggregation of conversion and storage efficiency. These methods are applied with five systems in a laboratory test bench to identify their advantages and drawbacks. Here, a particular focus is on compliance with the initially formulated requirements in terms of both test procedures and KPI derivations. Analysis revealed that the proposed method addresses these requirements well, and is beneficial in terms of result comprehensibility and KPI validity.

In this study, functional fitness is defined as the level of independence and self-sufficiency of an elderly person, which facilitates leading an independent life, without the need for assistance from other people. A decrease in functional fitness among older adults is influenced by a variety of factors. In addition to changes occurring in the human body in accordance with the laws of ontogenetic development, they can also be analyzed in terms of somatic parameters and the age of the subjects. The aim of this research was to find the factors differentiating the level of functional fitness of older adults. It involved 509 people divided into a group of people involved in regular physical activity and an inactive group. The Fullerton Functional Fitness Test was used to measure the level of physical fitness, and anthropometric measurements (body weight and height) were also performed. The level of functional fitness of Polish seniors was compared with the American standards established by R. E. Rikli and C. J. Jones. The results of our research confirm a higher level of functional fitness in active older adults, both women and men. In this group, BMI—(Body Mass Index is a measure of body fat based on height and weight) showed a greater correlation with shoulder girdle and back muscles strength, complex coordination, balance, agility, and endurance in women than in men. Finally, the surveyed Polish seniors exhibited a higher level of functional fitness than their American peers.

Aim: To replicate the finding that the polymorphism rs6971091 within the NYD-SP18 gene is associated with body mass index (BMI). Method: We analysed data of 29,284 adults (46.2% of males, mean age 58.9 (SD 7.3), mean BMI 28.6 (5.0 kg/m2)) examined within the Health Alcohol and Psychosocial Factors in Eastern Europe study in the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania and Russia. Results: BMI did not differ by rs6971091 genotype. In men, the mean BMI (SEs) in GG, GA and AA carriers were 27.8 (0.05), 27.9 (0.06) and 27.9 (0.14) kg/m2, respectively, (p = 0.26); in women, the corresponding values were 29.2 (0.06), 29.1 (0.07) and 29.1 (0.16), p = 0.57. In Czech subjects (n = 6,752), for whom the FTO rs17817449 genotype was available, there was no interaction between the NYD-SP18 and FTO polymorphisms in determination of BMI. Adjustment for age, energy and fat intake and physical activity did not materially change the results. There was no association of the NYD-SP18 genotype with waist-hip ratio. Conclusion: This study in a large Slavonic population sample suggests that the rs6971091 variant within the NYD-SP18 gene is not an important determinant of obesity in middle-aged persons.

The paper considers a group of indicators that characterize a network organizational structure. The author has studied various approaches for mathematical formalization of self-sufficiency (autarchy) of enterprises included in the organizational network. As a result, the author proposes an approach to calculation of self-sufficiency indicator based on 4 coefficients characterizing enterprise operation. Moreover, the paper considers the methods of calculating such indicators characterizing the organizational structure of the enterprise as coefficient of filling the orbits, coefficient of corporativity, coefficient of intraorbital connectivity of orbits, coefficient of connectivity of orbits, coefficient of participation, coefficient of dependence. The author substantiates basic ideas of developing a complex indicator of sustainability and a method for determination of sustainability of organizational network structures for managing a big company.
