This research aims to study the difference of hedonic consumption among syiah kuala university students in term of gender and faculties. The technique sampling used were purposive and quota sampling with 360 students consisted of 180 male and 180 female from 12 faculties. The data were collected using hedonic consumption scale constructed by researcher based on Hirschman and Holbrook theory (1982). Coefisien reliability of this research was (α)= 0,873. Hypothesis was tested by using Independent Sample T-Test which showed significance value 0,000 (p<0,05) and One Way Anova which showed significance value 0,000 (p<0,05). Result shows that there was different hedonic consumption between male and female students of Unsyiah in which female indicated higher hedonic consumption than male student. Besides, students of dentistry faculty indicated higher hedonic consumption than the other faculties.

The study aims at finding gender difference in the study patterns and environment of study followed by different university students in Pakistan. To undertake this study, we have collected data from 1334 university students (male= 649, female = 685) in Pakistan. They respond of the self-reported questionnaires on five study patterns such as study aloud, walking while studying, study silently, watching TV or listening to music while studying and group study and environment of study like as Calm place ( e.g. bedroom, study room), Noisy place (e.g. T.V lounge), Library / Lab study, Lawn / Cafe campus. The difference between male and female students was examined with an independent t-test. It found that gender plays a significant role in differentiating the pattern of studying aloud. No gender difference was observed for all other forms of study and environment. The study suggests conducting more research in future to clear the gender role.

This study aimed to analyse the difference in the mathematical thinking abilities of Informatics Engineering students based on gender in Calculus problem-solving. Mathematical thinking ability was measured based on four indicators of the mathematical thinking process, namely specialisation, generalising, conjecturing, and convincing. The instruments in this study were mathematical thinking tests and observation sheets. The test used in this study was composed of four questions by indicators of the mathematical thinking process. The technique of data collection was the test, observation, and interview. Subjects of this study consisted of 35 male students and 22 female students. Data were analysed using the t-test. The results of the analysis showed that there is a significant difference in the mathematical thinking ability of male and female students. Mathematical thinking abilities of female students reached indicators of specialisation, generalising, and conjecturing. On the other hand, mathematical thinking abilities of male students passed the elements of speciality and generalising.

The purpose of this study is to examine the difference of passive smokers’ assertiveness in terms of their knowledge level of cigarette, and their sexes. The hypothesis is that there is a difference of passive smokers’ assertiveness in terms of their knowledge level of cigarettes, and their sexes. The sample of this study was 314 people divided into 157 male passive smokers and 157 female passive smokers. All participants are living in Palembang city, South Sumatra. Two instruments were used to collect data, namely the scale of assertiveness and the questionnaire of the level of cigarette knowledge. Data were analyzed using one-way anova and t-test. The result shows that there is a significant difference of passive smokers’ assertiveness in terms of the cigarette knowledge level, with p = 0,000 (p <0,05). Likewise, there is a significant difference of assertiveness between male and female passive smokers, with p = 0,000 (p <0.05). Thus, the hypothesis of this study is accepted.Key words: Assertiveness, passive smoker, knowledge of cigarettes, sex. The research examined the influence of self- esteem and depression on suicidal ideation among university students. The research was carried out among university students to measure the influence of self- esteem and depression on suicidal ideation. Two hundred and fifty one participants [251] were sampled from a university for the purpose of this research. The instrument used for this research was questionnaire. The statistical methods used were t-test and one way ANOVA. Four hypotheses were tested and the result revealed: Students with high self-esteem [M =12.7877] significantly reported lower suicidal ideation than those with low self- esteem [M =18.5905], df [249] = -6.043, p <.01.The result implies that self-esteem influenced suicidal ideation among students. The results also shows that students with low depression [M = 12.8188] significantly reported lower suicidal ideation than those with high depression [M = 19.5222], df [248] = 6.903, p<.01. The result implies that depression influenced suicidal ideation among students. Likewise the result shows that female students [M =16.1301] were not significantly different from male students [M = 14.3359], df [249] =1.780, p>.05. The result implies that there is no gender difference in suicidal ideation among students. However students in 100 level of study [M =15.3469] were not significantly different in suicidal ideation compared to those in 200[M =14.7375], 300[M =14.5000], 400[M = 15.8036] and 500[M = 19.1000] levels of study. The result means that the level of study has no significant influence on suicidal ideation among students F[4,246] =0.846; p>.05.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of participation in a 1-week summer camp on thehopelessness and self-esteem of the university students attending Sport Sciences Faculty. Participants were 36university students assigned to experiment group using a random procedure. Coopersmith Self-esteem and Beck Hopelessness Scales were completed at the beginning and end of the summer camp by designed the university. The obtained data were analysed in the SPSS 18.0 program and the significance level was taken as 0.05. The descriptive statistics, independent simple t test, paired simple t test and Pearson correlation were used for analyse the data in the study. According to the results of the research, no significant difference was observed in the comparison of the hopelessness and self-esteem levels between pre and post-test. In addition, there was a significant difference in the hopelessness level of male and female students but any significant difference was not observed in terms of self-esteem. There was a significant relationship between hopelessness and self-esteem pre and post-test. These result shows that a 1-week summer camp cannot change the hopelessness or self-esteem level. However, as the self-esteem rises, the rate of despair decreases whereas as the despair rises, the selfesteem decreases.
