The article presents results of a study of phase composition and microstructure of initial material and samples obtained by selective laser melting of titanium-based alloy, as well as samples after heat treatment. The effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of specimens was shown. It was studied mechanical behavior of manufactured specimens before and after heat treatment at room and elevated temperatures as well. The heat treatment allows obtaining sufficient mechanical properties of material at room and elevated temperatures such as increase in ductility of material. The fractography of samples showed that they feature ductile fracture with brittle elements.

This study presents experimental results of structural analysis, such as phase composition, grains size assessment, strength and hardness of Ni-SPAN-C alloy 902 after various heat treatment modes (hardening and aging for stress relaxation). A thermal treatment mode has been selected to obtain higher physical and mechanical properties of the elinvar alloy. It is shown that the improvement of the alloy structure in thermal treatment occurs due to the thermic stresses, as well as the formation and dissolution of intermetallides.

The paper presents the studies’ results of chemical composition, structure, and physico-mechanical properties of high-calcium ashes from the Kansk-Achinsk coals (2017-2019 selection). It was found that ash has a complex poly-mineral composition and contains hydraulically active minerals and oxides of СаОfr, β-C2S, CA, C3A, C4AF, C2F, CaSO4. According to the content of CaOfr, MgO does not meet standards’ requirements. The uniformity of the volume change is maintained by the composition with 50% of cement. The structure and hardening kinetics of ash and ash-cement stone compositions, obtained from the test of normal density, were analyzed. It was established that the hardening of compositions with ash from the Kansk-Achinsk coals was largely influenced by ash minerals. An equivalent amount of cement in composite binders cannot be replaced. In order to obtain a positive effect, compositions with ash instead cement of no more than 30% and a part of fine aggregate, without exceeding the ratio of ash: cement = 1: 1, should be used.

TiO2 was doped into Er2O3-stabilized ZrO2 (ErSZ) to obtain desirable properties for thermal barrier coating (TBC) applications. The phase composition, thermal conductivity, and mechanical properties of TiO2-doped ErSZ were investigated. ErSZ had a non-transformable metastable tetragonal (t′) phase, the compound with 5 mol % TiO2 consisted of t′ and cubic (c) phases, while 10 mol % TiO2 doped ErSZ had t′, c, and about 3.5 mol % monoclinic (m) phases. Higher TiO2 doping contents caused more m phase, and the compounds were composed of t′ and m phases. When the dopant content was below 10 mol %, TiO2 doping could decrease the thermal conductivity and enhance the toughness of the compounds. At higher doping levels, the compounds exhibited an increased thermal conductivity and a reduction in the toughness, mainly attribable to the formation of the undesirable m phase. Hence, 10 mol % TiO2-doped ErSZ could be a promising candidate for TBC applications.
