This paper presents control solutions dedicated to a class of controlled plants widely used in mechatronics systems, characterized by simplified mathematical models of second-order and third-order plus integral type. The conventional control solution is focused on the Extended Symmetrical Optimum method proposed by the authors in 1996. There are proposed six fuzzy control solutions employing PI-fuzzy controllers. These solutions are based on the approximate equivalence in certain conditions between fuzzy control systems and linear ones, on the application of the modal equivalence principle, and on the transfer of results from the continuous-time conventional solution to the fuzzy solutions via a discrete-time expression of the controller where Prof. Milic R. Stojic's book [1] is used. There is performed the sensitivity analysis of the fuzzy control systems with respect to the parametric variations of the controlled plant, which enables the development of the fuzzy controllers. In addition, the paper presents aspects concerning Iterative Feedback Tuning and Iterative Learning Control in the framework of fuzzy control systems. The theoretical results are validated by considering a real-world application.

The paper addresses the synthesis of fuzzy controllers for computerized control system of the waste heat energy (WHE) utilization plants that operate with the thermoacoustic engine (TAE). Based on the analysis of existing systems, the authors present the main tasks of the synthesized control system, describe its structure and main components. Created system is then tested on the experimental thermoacoustic installation. Using the data obtained authors synthesize the mathematical model of thermoacoustic plant and describe the methodology of its control by the adjustments in resonator length of thermoacoustic device. Using the suggested approach authors design a number of conventional discrete and fuzzy controllers and provide the comparative analysis of quality indicators of the designed control systems transient responses.

The main idea of this paper is to present a possibility of application of hybrid-fuzzy controllers in control systems theory. In this paper, we have described a new method оf using orthogonal functions in control of dynamical systems. These functions generate genarilzed quasi-orthogonal filter, which are used in the concluding phase of the fuzzy controllers. Proposed hybrid-fuzzy controllers of Takagi-Sugeno type has been applied to a DC servo drive system and performed experiments have verified efficiency and improvements of a new control method.

The article discusses the design features of fuzzy controllers as part of automatic control systems for semiconductor compensators. Tendencies to the use of fuzzy logic and neural networks to solve problems with a large number of variables that are random are analyzed. The functional scheme of the automatic control system on the basis of fuzzy logic is considered. Some features of the fuzzy regulator are given. Questions of optimization of parameters of digital fuzzy controllers are investigated. The importance of the choice of the method of parametric adjustment of the fuzzy controller is shown. The options for choosing the quality criterion for fuzzy controllers are considered. The market of commercial software products for working with fuzzy logic is analyzed.
