In recent years, information and communication technology (ICT) has become embedded and affected the every aspect of our lives. Rapid development of ICT has changed our language teaching pedagogy at all levels. Teachers, curriculum developers, researchers have been constantly striving to find techniques to use some form of it to both assist and enhance language learning. What is more exciting is that studies have demonstrated positive effects that ICT brings towards students' learning motivation (Chenoweth, Ushida & Murday, 2006; Stepp- Greany, 2002), students' personal needs and learning styles (Gimenez, 2000), students' language mastery (Stepp-Greany, 2002), effective teaching and learning process (Al-Jarf, 2004), etc. Although these studies have shown that ICT has the potential important role in supporting and enhancing language learning, the use of ICT should never be the goal in and of itself. The responsibility for language instruction should be in the hands of qualified teachers who have the knowledge and expertise to manage and to make the best use of it to accomplish learning objectives.

Teaching in general and language teaching in particular has enormously changed through time. Language teaching, throughout the twentieth century, experienced massive changes and innovations to become more dynamic, active, and interactive. Language teaching in the twentieth century has witnessed diverse theories and trends which shaped language teaching based on needs, context, practicality, and availability of resources. Meanwhile, there has been the addition of information and communication technology (ICT) to the theories and methodologies mentioned. The Internet, in particular, is becoming an increasingly vital tool in our information society. In this research, which is a quasi-experimental study, we studied the effects of ICT on a sample of 55 EFL college students. The findings show that ICT enhances language learning experience and can act as an effective tool both for teaching and learning. The author hopes the current study makes its way into the education system both in high schools and universities and can persuade the teachers to integrate ICT and teaching.

The rapid development of information and communication technology (ICT) has been increasingly changing the ways of teaching and learning and teacher development. While the literature shows a proliferation of studies exploring various issues of applying ICT in teacher development and teaching practice, there is a lack of overview of the literature in this field. This study aimed to address the gap by reviewing the literature in two themes: (1) ICT in teacher professional development (TPD), and (2) ICT in teaching practice. Six journals of a high impact in the field of teaching and teacher education were selected, from which 85 articles involving ICT applications and published from 2013 to 2019 were identified. Among them, 18 empirical articles highly relevant to the two themes were analysed. The content analysis of these publications identified a set of specific ICT applications in TPD and in teaching practice. Moreover, the analysis revealed the key features of these ICT applications in terms of their functions, their effects on teaching and teacher development, the factors influencing their applications, and the problems in existing applications.

The rapid development of information and communication technology or what is known as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has penetrated various fields of life, including education and teaching. With regard to learning, the use of information technology, in this case, e-learning, is needed not only for educators who are skilled at utilizing technology and technology for the manufacture of teaching materials, but a design is needed to carry out learning effectively. In a learning design (instructional design) there is a process to guide actors (actors) to design, develop, implement e-learning content by utilizing the available e-learning infrastructure and applications. At the next stage in the implementation of e-learning, there is an evaluation stage which is used to revise or adjust to the previous stages. A good educational institution must develop teachers by providing various facilities to support the teaching and learning process. Teachers can replace it with a new method in the form of video or audio that has been combined with the teaching material they want to convey. As technology develops, mobile or smartphone versions of e-Learning can be compatible with the features available in conventional learning so that the quality of content in the form of subject matter can be accessed properly.

With the rapid development of computer technology and network, computer, as an assistant means of teaching, finds a broad use of foreign language instruction. In particular, it is worth mentioning that computer assisted language learning (CALL), as a newly booming science, plays an increasingly important role in language teaching and learning and has become an important solution to the current education problems encountered in the process. However, CALL can only play a supporting role in foreign language teaching. In the foreign language teaching with CALL,it is proper to develop the advantages of advanced technology, and meanwhile to deny the traditional teaching mode and inappropriate teaching methods. Therefore, combined with the reality, this paper makes an argument that in the process of teaching, we must keep in the reasonable application of CALL to avoid the negative effects of abusing it while actively and prudently promote the reform of college English to cultivate interdisciplinary talents in the new century.

Optimizing information and communication technology (ICT) in language learning is best solution for boring conventional classes. It promises both lecturers and students better achievement in teaching and learning. Especially in Grammar for TOEFL (name of course taught in the fourth semester of English Education Study Program at STKPI PGRI Pasuruan), did the (lecturer) researcher decide to use NST TOEFL Explorer as one of ICT products to solve some instructional problems. In order to achieve the objective, thus this research was designed as a classroom action research and it used field notes, interview, and TOEFL test as instruments. The use of NST TOEFL Explorer did not simply require students to operate the application; therefore the research team seeked for and implemented working strategies to improve the students’ mastery in Grammar for TOEFL. The data from fieldnotes discovered the students were feeling enjoyable in using NST TOEFL Explorer. Moreover, from intervew, the students stated that learning grammar by NST TOEFL Explorer could make them motivated and confident in joining real TOEFL. The data collected by TOEFL test showed that the students could gain high scores. As a result, NST TOEFL Explorer could improve the students’ mastery in Grammar for TOEFL not only cognitively but also psychomotorically.

In this global era , the more rapid development of science , which is characterized by the rapid advancement of information and communication technology world , encourage changes in education. Teachers (educators) are no longer present as the sole source of knowledge in a learning process . Therefore , an educator (teacher) if you want to keep survive in playing its role in the process of learning activities , they should have the creativity , in making the changes (innovations) , approaches , methods in the process of teaching and learning activities . In order to facilitate this learning , then teachers (educators) need to have a creative and innovative spirit . Therefore , a teacher is not enough just to master the competency (cognitive) alone, but also have to master information technology as a medium of communication , computer-based learning interesting and fun
