Potential Role of Cytokines in Children with Acute Appendicitis and Acute Mesenteric Lymphadenitis Although, AAP and AML have different etiological factors, clinical symptoms are very much similar but treatment tactics in both the disease differ a lot. In case of AML, treatment is more conservative and does not require hospitalization while in case of AAP immediate hospitalization and maybe further surgery can be mandatory. With the identification of group of cytokines serum inflammatory mediators IL-8, IL-10, IL-12[p70], IL-17, TNF-a and MCP-1, it is believed early and proper diagnosis of AAP in the near future. Research of cytokines-serum inflammatory mediators has opened new opportunities for an early detection and differentiation of these two diseases in children.

Investigations of the mRNA expression of apoptosis intracellular regulators, bcl-2 and bcl-xL antagonists and bax, bcl-xL agonists of cellular destruction as well as mRNA expression of IL-5 were carried out. As a result of investigation of potential role of IL-5 in the regulation of programmable bcl-2-dependent destruction we found the increase of vitality and mRNA expression stimulation of bcl-2 peripheral blood eosinophils in patients with bronchial asthma (BA). It was found that fresh-isolated peripheral blood eosinophils in all investigated groups expressed bax and bcl-xL mRNA, bcl-xS had the less activity. In peripheric blood eosinophils of healthy donors the bcl-2 expression was not found, however, the increase of mRNA expression by IL-5 was shown in group of patients with bronchial asthma and, possibly connected with this, the appearance of bcl-2 activity. Thus, the decrease of apoptotic activity in peripheral blood eosinophils in patients with bronchial asthma may lead to the increase of eosinophil portion that is subjected to necrotic destruction and this may significantly contribute into bronchial asthma pathogenesis.

Objective: to study the role of macroelements in the pathogenesis of bronchial asthma in children. Materials and methods: A total of 131 patients with different degrees of bronchial asthma severity were examined instantaneously. The reference group consisted of 31 children of the respective gender and age groups 1 and 2A. The average age of children was 11.83 ± 3.38 years old. All children in the cohort were given a comprehensive clinical-laboratory examination, peakflowmetry, pulsoxymetry, and spirometry. The study of mineral homeostasis in blood serum was carried out by X-ray fluorescence analysis. Statistical processing of the results was performed using the Statistica 10 and Microsoft Office Excel 2010, calculations were carried out in the program R. Results: It was found that the levels of potassium, phosphorus, and sulfur in children with bronchial asthma were elevated, while the levels of calcium, magnesium, and chlorine were reduced compared to the control group patients. The content of these macronutrients in patients with varying degrees of disease severity did not have significant differences. Conclusions: The data obtained on the changes in macro-element homeostasis indicate the important role of diselementosis in the pathogenesis of BA. It is a significant factor that contributes to the progression of chronic inflammation in bronchial organs that requires correction of therapy in children.
