The rapid increase in the use of Web 2.0 technologies has led to changes in school curricula because they are a powerful tool for developing innovative ways of teaching and learning. These technologies have also changed how teacher education programmes prepare pre-service teachers. Thus, as a predictor, pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy is important for the development of their computer skills. A descriptive research design was employed. The data were collected using a Web 2.0 technologies educational usage scale and a computer-related self-efficacy perception scale. The sample of the study involved 146 (F: 70, M: 76) student teachers in a teacher education course at Ziya Gökalp Education Faculty of Dicle University during the 2011-2012 academic year. The data were analysed using means, t-tests, and one-way ANOVAs. The study revealed that student teachers used Facebook the most frequently to communicate, access class material, hold discussions and form academic groups. Student teachers with Internet access at home used Web2.0 technologies more frequently than those without Internet access at home. The frequent use of Web 2.0 by student teachers provides teachers with the possibility for more student-centred learning activities in the classroom. An interactive computer-assisted learning program is described, which simulates a number of experiments which can be performed on the isolated, innervated duodenum of the rabbit (the Finkleman preparation). This preparation is one of the classical pharmacological preparations used to demonstrate to undergraduate students the effects of selected drugs: those acting on adrenoceptors or intestinal smooth muscle, or those affecting responses to sympathetic nerve stimulation. The program runs on any IBM compatible PC, and makes use of text and high resolution graphics to provide a background to the experiments and to describe the methodology. A screen display which emulates a chart recorder presents simulated results (spontaneous or evoked contractions of the gut), derived from actual data, in response to the selection by students of predetermined experimental protocols from a menu. The program is designed to enhance or replace the traditional laboratory-based practical using this preparation, whilst achieving the majority of the same teaching and learning objectives.

The media is a communication tool for teacher interaction with students which is a series of teaching and learning activities in schools. In the learning process the teacher has obstacles in conveying knowledge to students. The teacher needs media to be able to help attract the attention of students so that learning objectives are achieved. Picture card learning media can help teachers effectively achieve learning objectives in the teaching and learning process. This study applies a picture card learning media to students in class V SD Negeri 4 Tanjung Aman. The aim is to find out the improvement in student learning outcomes after the teacher applies the pictorial card learning media to fifth grade students of SD Negeri 4 Tanjung Aman. In this study using a design that is the Initial Test - The Final Group Single Test (The One Group Pretest - posttest). The learning outcomes in this study were obtained by the fifth grade students before and after the implementation of the pictorial card media, to find out the improvement in the learning outcomes of the fifth grade students of SD Negeri 4 Tanjung Aman. shows that the mean or posttest average is higher than the pretest. Mean posttest 62.22 and mean pretest 46.25, so there is an increase in learning outcomes after the application of the pictorial card media to fifth grade students of SD Negeri 4 Tanjung Aman.

This article studies student teachers’ perceptions of the pedagogic and didactic aspects of teaching and learning mathematics in a democratic classroom. It is concerned primarily with issues of democracy in the mathematics classroom, specifically freedom, equality and dialogue. The research was conducted in two mathematics teacher education classes, where students were in their third year of study to major in mathematics. To find these students’ perceptions of democracy in the mathematics classroom the first two stages of the constant comparison method were followed to arrive at categories of democratic and undemocratic acts. The participants in the research emphasised that instructors should refrain from giving some students more time or opportunities to express themselves or act in the mathematics classroom than other students, because this would make them feel unequal and possibly make them unwilling to participate further in the mathematics classroom. The participants also emphasised that instructors should not exert their power to stop the flow of students’ actions in the mathematics classroom, because this would trouble them and make them lose control of their actions. Further, the participants mentioned that instructors would do better to connect to students’ ways of doing mathematics, especially of defining mathematical terms, so that students appreciate the correct ways of doing mathematics and defining its terms.

The effective use of an interactive whiteboard (IWB) in teacher-education institutions depends strongly on student teachers’ intention of using it. Despite the recent surge in published research on the widespread applications for IWB in teaching and learning, few have developed a model to elucidate the elements which contribute to student teachers’ intention to use IWB. The aim of this study was to develop a model which demonstrates the variables that affect student teachers’ intentions and which also explain their interactions. The proposed IWB intention to use research model is based on prominent educational technology acceptance theories and models. Five variables (technology self-efficacy, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and intention to use) were selected to build a model for this study. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used for this study to identify the predictors and the model fit. The proposed model has accounted for 47.6% of the variance in the intention to use IWB.
