Modern technology plays a fundamental role in the engineering activities undertaken in day-to-day operations, in order to obtain the necessary material for construction or to obtain certain useful materials that are found near the surface. A special contribution of this branch of terrestrial measurements, of the topography, using modern technology, is materialized by specific studies carried out from a preliminary phase of design of the operation and up to the phase in which the perimeter is ecologized. The present article aims to test and evaluate the accuracy of the data for volumetric measurements of exploited material, using modern technology and specialized software based on topographic altitude, with which we will be able to realize the three-dimensional model of the operating perimeter. For this purpose, an exploitation has been chosen on the appropriate surface, materialized through a case study, with reference to the Doman Quarry, Caras Severin, in which we determined the volumes exploited during the activity period.

The authors present methods building and printing three-dimensional models for graphical reconstruction of historical architectural objects. Procedure sequence of the methods is exemplified through building the model of the Parochial Cathedral of St. Mary of the Perpetual Assistance of the 1950s. After analyzing and assessing the most popular specialized software means, the 3DS Max environment is chosen to build a three-dimensional model. Suggested software tools enable increased accuracy, speed and granularity of fixation of complex systems and expanded databases, providing efficient instruments to deal with bulk data and being relevant to new IT achievements. Sequence and content of operations for analytical and modeling cycles are substantiated. The cathedral model is built on the basis of archive photographs and drafts. The authors describe methods and the algorithm of procedures, principles of architectural and spacious modeling to recreate the architectural object. The three-dimensional model is built by applying a stereogram miniature of the destroyed Cathedral. Reconstruction of spacious configuration of the objects is based on parallax assessment of images. Stages of project implementation are determined. There are described methods of implementing modeling by 3DS Max tools and preparing the model for 3D printing in Cura.

Abstract It has historically been frequent among geotechnical practitioners, that the stability analysis of the slopes of an open pit is performed using a two dimensional section representing the highest and steepest walls within a certain geological setting. However, the literature shows that to predict rupture events in an open pit, a three-dimensional analysis would better represent the actual conditions, as the spatial distribution of the lithology and the structural features play an important role when defining the stability of the slopes. This paper presents the case study of an open it located in Brazil, which experienced instabilities between the years 2001-2019. An evaluation of the behavior of the open pit was performed by calibrating the strength parameters to represent the best documented rupture events. The three-dimensional model was made using the FLAC3D software. The results show that there is a good correlation between the results of the model and the reports of past instabilities. Finally, recommendations are presented for the inter-ramp angles for each lithology based on the calibrated stability analyzes performed. This work seeks to contribute to the knowledge in evaluation techniques for the three-dimensional behavior of open pits.

Taking Bracket sets as an example, we have discussed the construction methods of BIM-based Information model of the ancient architecture components. First, to build the three-dimensional model of the bracket sets with the method of CSG, and then write the information in the model with the technology of extended data and data dictionary, and to built Information model of the ancient architecture's components, at last we have given the key code to achieve it. The information model meet the rule about the ancient buildings’ modulus, it can be used for the measurement of existing ancient buildings, the repair and reconstruction of the ancient architecture, the design of antique architecture.

The aim of the study was to recreate, in the form of a 3D model, the Citadel fort No. 33 “Krakus” in Krakow. The data on the basis of which the three-dimensional model was made were obtained using a Leica ScanStation P40 terrestrial laser scanner, which is owned by the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Agriculture Hugona Kollataj in Krakow. The scope of field work included performing laser measurements, and then processing the point cloud in the Leica Cyclone 3D program and creating a full architectural model in SketchUp 2016.

The article presents the possibility of using unmanned aerial vehicle to perform selected photogrammetric studies. The first part shows the mathematical basis of aerotriangulation based on a series of images. Next, a photogrammetric system consisting of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with a camera and specialized software for recording and processing images was presented. The main part shows the stages of the photogrammetric processing from the images i.e. mission plan of the incursion, creation of a thick cloud of points and a three-dimensional model. It also shows the analysis of the quality of the developed orthophotomap and a numerical model of the surface area, including photopoints by comparing them to orthographic images that are shared on Google. The final part contains generalized conclusions derived from the conducted research.

Fashion photographs are generally two-dimensional images showing one side of a three-dimensional model. This paper, however, deals with far less well-known stereoscopic fashion photographs. Stereoscopy is a technique that creates the illusion of a 3-D image. Based on the image collection of Swiss textile and clothes company HANRO, the article analyzes the composition of 3-D pictures by putting them in a broader media-historical context. The archived stereoscopic photographs date back to the 1950s and show a series of women’s fashion. In the same period, Hollywood experienced a 3-D-boom that may have had a technical and aesthetical impact on these photographs. Although fashion is not mediated in moving images in this case study, codes or formal languages of a film are inscribed in the images, as will be shown in the following text. Building on these findings, this paper further discusses the influence of cinematography and other media practices on the fashion industry’s attempt to free its fashion imagery from the confines of a two-dimensional page.
