Abstract Due to the fact that the western region of Paraná is considered subtropical, with high temperatures in the summer, the hybrids of Encyclia are commercialized by the beauty of its flowers and durability. However, there are no studies involving potted plants, substrate types and fertilizers, as well as hybrids, for the genus Encyclia. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the vegetative development and flowering of Encyclia based on fertilization and substrate. The experiment was conducted in a commercial orchard, from January to September/2017. The seedlings remained in a protected environment, with 50% shading. The experimental design was randomized blocks, in a 4 x 5 factorial scheme (substrates x fertilization intervals), with 4 replicates per treatment, and 4 pots per replicate. The lot chosen was sowed in vitro, with the hybrid Encyclia “Kropp” x E. atropurpurea. After five months of the last fertilization, the evaluations related to vegetative development and flowering were carried out. Substrates based on sphagnum presented better results in flowering. Organic fertilizations with Bokashi at 45 days after transplant (DAT) favor flowering and vegetative development of the Encyclia hybrid, which occurs in pots containing sphagnum-based substrates and with organic fertilizers above 60 DAT.

In the western region of Paraná, the subtropical climate prevails, with little accumulation of hours of cold in the winter, making the fruit species not go into complete dormancy. Given the above, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of chemical defoliant on blackberry varieties, aiming at their complete defoliation and induction of numbness. The work was conducted at Unioeste, Marechal Cândido Rondon Campus, in a four-year-old orchard of plants, spaced 3 x 0.5 m, simple spreader with two wire strands at a height of 120 cm from the ground, and 20 plants per grow crops. The experimental design used was randomized blocks, where two treatments related to the application of defoliant (with and without) on 7 cvs were evaluated blackberry, containing three replicates and three plants in each cultivar. Was used as a defoliant lime sulfur applied in August pruning then held 25 days after application. Regarding fruit quality, Caigangue and Tupy varieties showed the highest SS/AT ratio, indicating the best flavor of their fruits for fresh consumption. The cultivars Brazos and Guarani showed lower SS/AT ratio, indicating more acidic fruits. Higher levels of ascorbic acid were found in fruits of cvs. Guarani and Cherokee. The application of defoliant reduced the total number of blackberry fruits of the cultivars Comanche and Guarani. The use of defoliant did not interfere in the physicochemical characteristics of the blackberry fruits of the evaluated cultivars.

Introduction: Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is an edible and medicinal plant. We use the leaves, flowers and roots. The objective of this study is to show interest in the use of dandelion as a natural remedy in the primary treatment of serval pathologies. Methods : An ethnobotanical survey of 1000 people in the western region of Algeria was conducted using a questionnaire. Results: the obtained results from this study show that 60% of the population questioned prefer traditional medicine the majority of them use the plant in the medical field whose leaves and roots are most used. Infusion and maceration are the most usable methods for the preparation of the plant and administration is exclusively oral. Most users testify that the plant has significant efficacy with a percentage of 61%. Conclusion :All this information constitutes a database to perform other research in vivo or in vitro to value this planton the therapeutic level. Keywords : Taraxacum Officinale, traditional medicine, leaves, ethnobotanical study.
