The objective of this work was to identify by biometric analyses the most stable soybean parents, with higher oil or protein contents, cultivated at different seasons and locations of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Forty-nine genotypes were evaluated in the municipalities of Viçosa, Visconde do Rio Branco, and São Gotardo, in the state of Minas Gerais, from 2009 to 2011. Protein and oil contents were analyzed by infrared spectrometry using a FT-NIR analyzer. The effects of genotype, environment, and genotype x environment interaction were significant. The BARC-8 soybean genotype is the best parent to increase protein contents in the progenies, followed by BR 8014887 and CS 3032PTA276-3-4. Selection for high oil content is more efficient when the crossings involve the Suprema, CD 01RR8384, and A7002 genotypes, which show high mean phenotypic values, wide adaptability, and greater stability to environmental variation.

Palavras-chave: Annicchiarico, AMMI, interação genótipo x ambiente, testador, Zea mayz L. AGRONOMIC PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY OF MAIZE TOPCROSSES IN MINAS GERAIS AND PARANÁ ABSTRACT – The objective of this study was to evaluate the agronomic performance and phenotype stability of top cross maize hybrids originated by crossing with an elite line (tester), in four environments (Guarapuava-PR, Candói- PR, Guarda-Mor-MG and Paracatu-MG), using the methods Annicchiarico and AMMI to select lines with high genetic potential. Thus, 88 top cross hybrids and 12 commercial hybrids (2B688, AG9010, AS1575, DKB390, GNZ2500, GNZ8132, GNZ9501, GNZ9505, P30F53, P30R50, P30F35 and Penta) were evaluated. The 10x10 triple lattice design was used evaluating the agronomic characteristics plant height (PH), ear height (EH) and yield stability of grain (YG). Significant differences were observed for genotype, environment and genotype x environment interaction for YG. The average productivity of the genotypes was superior in Paracatu-MG (11,100 kg ha-1) compared to Candói (9,654 kg ha-1), Guarapuava (9,456 kg ha-1) and Guarda-Mor (9,446 kg ha-1). The data on YG and stability using Annicchiarico and AMMI methods showed that the top cross hybrid HTC 136 is suitable to continue in the inbreeding process of the breeding program. Keywords: Annicchiarico, AMMI, genotype-environment interaction, tester, Zea mayz L.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate corn cultivars grown in the state of Amazonas, Brazil, which simultaneously show high grain yield, adaptability, and stability. The trials were carried out in seven environments in the state of Amazonas, in a randomized complete block design, with two replicates. The grain yield of 30 corn cultivars was evaluated in four growing seasons, from 2011/2012 to 2014/2015. The genetic parameters were estimated by the REML/Blup methodology. The selection for adaptability and stability was based on the predicted genetic value and on the harmonic mean of the relative performance of the genetic values. Despite the existence of genotype x environment interaction, cultivars with high adaptability and stability were identified. Iranduba - lowland, in 2011/2012 and 2014/2015 - and Rio Preto da Eva - upland, in 2012/2013 - stood out as favorable environments, while Iranduba - upland, in 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 - and Manaus - upland, in 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 - were classified as unfavorable environments. The single-cross hybrid BRS 1055 showed productive superiority and high stability in this region. The Sint 10771, Sint 10781, and Sint 10699 synthetic varieties showed high adaptability. BRS Caimbé shows specific adaptability to cropping in upland environments of the state of Amazonas, Brazil.

The objective of this experiment was to estimate the magnitude of genotype X environment interaction on grain yield and yield related traits. Twelve varieties of food barley were included in the study planted in randomized complete block design with three replications. The ANOVA of combined and individual location revealed significant differences among the food barley genotypes for grain yield and other traits. The results of ANOVA for grain yield showed highly significant (p≤0.01) differences among genotypes evaluated for grain yield at Maychew and significant (p≤0.05) differences in Korem, Alage and Mugulat. The ANOVA over locations showed a highly significant (p≤0.01) variation for the genotype effect, environment effects, genotype X environment interaction (GEI) effect and significant (p≤0.05) variation for GEI effect of yield and for most of the yield related traits of food barley genotypes. Haftysene, Yidogit, Estayish and Basso were the genotypes with relatively high mean grain yield across all locations and they are highly performing genotypes to the area. Among locations, the highest mean grain yield was recorded at Korem and it was a suited environment to all the genotypes whereas Mugulat is unfavoured one.
