Introduction: The present research was conducted at the University of Delhi in 2017. Method: Websites were ranked on the basis of feedback from unbiased experts. Later, we proposed an integrated approach by combining ordered weighted averaging (owa) operator with fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (fahp) for budget allocation. Results: A numerical example related to a company, which deals with consumer goods and wants to advertise on few e-commerce websites is discussed at the end of the paper. Budget distribution is decided by solving multi-objective maximum-dispersion-minimum-variance (mdmv) owa and fahp method. Conclusions: The proposed methodology aids managerial decisions made by handling multiple attributes simultaneously through industry experts’ opinion, and using a simple proportional rule for allocating budget. Originality:  The conventional methods based on reach maximization, exposure or profit cannot meet the budget allocation needs of the modern advertising planning. Firstly, they do not take into consideration multiple attributes of media. Secondly, they do not incorporate the expert opinion and their preferences. To address these problems, we propose a multi-attribute method based on the advertising budget allocation method to divide the budget into individual websites. The attributes under consideration are: system quality, content quality, usage, trust, customer support, online customer feedback, and personalization. Limitations: In this study, we used a mdmv-owa operator in fuzzy environment but in future occasions, it may be extended to intuitionistic fuzzy domain.

Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operators have been integrated in Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for image classification through the OWA layer. This layer lets the CNN integrate global information about the image in the early stages, where most CNN architectures only allow for the exploitation of local information. As a side effect of this integration, the OWA layer becomes a practical method for the determination of OWA operator weights, which is usually a difficult task that complicates the integration of these operators in other fields. In this paper, we explore the weights learned for the OWA operators inside the OWA layer, characterizing them through their basic properties of orness and dispersion. We also compare them to some families of OWA operators, namely the Binomial OWA operator, the Stancu OWA operator and the exponential RIM OWA operator, finding examples that are currently impossible to generalize through these parameterizations.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe and implements an analytic hierarchy process (AHP)-QFD model for selecting the best location from an organization point of view which picks the site with the best opportunity requirements. Integration of AHP-QFD process gives us a new approach to assist organizations through observing various factors and selecting the best location among different alternatives. This approach uses AHP method to match the preferences required by decision makers and these preferences are applied to the characteristics of QFD. The model fundamental requirement are perfect potential locales and the areas are contrasted and both quantitative and qualitative elements to permit directors to join managerial experience and judgment in the answer process. The AHP-QFD model is also applied on a case study to illustrate the solution process. Design/methodology/approach – The integration of AHP and QFD is used to analyze available options and select the best alternative. This can be done by ranking each criterion through a pairwise comparison. Given collected data, the QFD approach is used to find the capability of each criterion. Findings – Integration of AHP-QFD is used to select the best alternative in facility location. This integrated approach can be best used in dealing with facility location problems. Originality/value – The developed AHP-QFD model in facility location problems, facilitates the inclusion of market criteria and decision maker opinion into the traditional cost function, which has been mainly distance base in the literature.


Merging of multiple imaging modalities leads to a single image that acquire high information content. These find useful applications in disease diagnosis and treatment planning. IHS-PCA method is a spatial domain approach for fusion that offersfinestvisibility but demands vast memory and it lacks steering information. We propose an integrated approach that incorporates NSCT combined with PCA utilizing IHS space and histogram matching. The fusion algorithm is applied on MRI with PET image and improved functional property was obtained. The IHS transform is a sharpening technique that converts multispectral image from RGB channels to Intensity Hue and Saturation independent values. Histogram matching is performed with intensity values of the two input images. Pathological details in images can be emphasized in multi-scale and multi-directions by using PCA withNSCT. Fusion rule applied is weighted averaging andprincipal components are used for dimensionality reduction. Inverse NSCT and Inverse IHS are performed so as to obtain the fused image in new RGB space. Visual and subjective investigation is compared with existing methods which demonstrate that our proposed technique gives high structural data content with high spatial and spectral resolution compared withearlier methods.

A new method for decision making that uses the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator in the aggregation of the information is presented. It is used a concept that it is known in the literature as the index of maximum and minimum level (IMAM). This index is based on distance measures and other techniques that are useful for decision making. By using the OWA operator in the IMAM, we form a new aggregation operator that we call the ordered weighted averaging index of maximum and minimum level (OWAIMAM) operator. The main advantage is that it provides a parameterized family of aggregation operators between the minimum and the maximum and a wide range of special cases. Then, the decision maker may take decisions according to his degree of optimism and considering ideals in the decision process. A further extension of this approach is presented by using hybrid averages and Choquet integrals. We also develop an application of the new approach in a multi-person decision-making problem regarding the selection of strategies.

Advertising budget allocation across multiple markets has drawn considerable attention in recent years. To expand previous research and fill a gap in the current literature, this study proposes two decision models for optimal budget allocation decisions across multimarkets with different goals and various constraints. In addition to the market parameters proposed by the Vidale–Wolfe model, the present study incorporates market goals and advertising objectives into budget allocation decisions. Different types of markets are defined in terms of the goal set for market share or profit. Given the characteristics of different markets, two separate decision models are developed. Model I aims to maximize sales volume given a fixed advertising budget, while model II seeks to minimize the advertising budget given a total of targeted sales volume for all the markets. Solutions to the two models are discussed, and a numerical example is provided to demonstrate how to apply the models in making budget allocation decision.

PurposeRecent changes in climate, rainfall patterns, snow melt and rising sea levels coupled with an increase in urban development have increased the threat of flooding. To curb these threats and mitigate these damages, property-level approaches to improving resilience are now being encouraged as part of an integrated approach to flood risk management. This raises questions such as, what are the flood resilient attributes within individual properties, what is their importance and how can these be quantified. This research sought to develop a quantitative approach for the measurement of property-level flood resilience.Design/methodology/approachA synthesis of literature was undertaken to establish the main resilient attributes and their relevant sub-attributes. This process led to the development of a new method, named the Composite Flood Resilient Index (CFRI) to weight the attributes and sub-attributes of flood resilience based on their importance. The approach adopts the use of the fuzzy-analytic hierarchy process (F-AHP) approach to quantify flood resilience.FindingsThe implications of the proposed methodology in determining the flood resilience of individual property, including the potential use in retrofitting activities, and the benefits to a range of stakeholders are considered.Social implicationsThe methodology offers the potential to support the measurement of flood resilience of individual properties, allowing the identification and prioritisation of specific interventions to improve the resilience of a property.Originality/valueWhereas previous attempts to quantify flood resilience have adopted qualitative approaches with some level of subjectivity, this proposed methodology represents an important advancement in developing a scientific and quantitative approach.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose an integrated approach for assessing the sustainability of production and simplifying the improvement tasks in complex manufacturing processes. Design/methodology/approach The proposed approach has been investigated the integration of value stream mapping (VSM), analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). VSM is used as a basic structure for assessing and improving the sustainability of the manufacturing process. AHP is used for weighting the sustainability indicators and TOPSIS for prioritizing the operations of a manufacturing process regarding the improvement side. Findings The results carried out from this study help the managers’ staff in organizing the improvement phase in the complex manufacturing processes through computing the importance degree of each indicator and determining the most influential operations on the production. Research limitations/implications The major limitations of this paper are that one case study was considered. In addition, to an average set of sustainability indicators that have been treated. Originality/value The novelty of this research is expressed by the development of an extended VSM in complex manufacturing processes. In addition, the proposed approach contributes with a new improvement strategy through integrating the multi-criteria decision approaches with VSM method to solve the complexity of the improvement process from sustainability viewpoints.
