Nowadays, the video-sharing websites are becoming more and more popular, which leads to latent social networks among videos and users. In this work, results are integrated with the data collected from YouTube, one of the largest user-driven online video repositories, and are supported by Chinese sentiment analysis which excels the state of art. Along with it, the authors construct two types of bipartite signed networks, video network (VN) and topic participant network (TPN), where nodes denote videos or users while weights of edges represent the correlation between the nodes. Several indices are defined to quantitatively evaluate the importance of the nodes in the networks. Experiments are conducted by using YouTube videos and corresponding metadata related to two specific events. Experimental results show that both the analysis of social networks and indices correspond very closely with the events' evolution and the roles that topic participants play in spreading Internet videos. Finally, the authors extend the networks to summarization of a video set related to an event.

Vision is the science that informs us about the biological and evolutionary algorithms that our eyes, opticnerves and brains have chosen over time to see. This article is an attempt to solve the problem of colour to grey conversion, by borrowing ideas from vision science. We introduce an algorithm that measures contrast along the opponent colour directions and use the results to combine a three dimensional colour space into a grey. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm competes with the state of art algorithms.

Information entities are used in ontologies to represent engineering technical specifications, health records, pictures or librarian data about, e.g., narrative fictions, among others. The literature in applied ontology lacks a comparison of the state of the art, and foundational questions on the nature of information entities remain open for research. The purpose of the paper is twofold. First, to compare existing ontologies with both each other and theories proposed in philosophy, semiotics, librarianship, and literary studies in order to understand how the ontologies conceive and model information entities. Second, to discuss some open research challenges that can lead to principled approaches for the treatment of information entities, possibly by getting into account the variety of information entity types found in the literature.
