Ontology sense-making or visual comprehension of the ontological schemata and structure are vital for cross-validation purposes of the ontology increment during the process of applied ontology construction. Also, it is important to query the ontology in order to verify the accuracy of the stored knowledge embeddings. This will boost the interactions between domain specialists and ontologists in applied ontology construction processes. Hence existing mechanisms have numerous of deficiencies (discussed in the paper), a new algorithm is proposed in this research to boost the efficiency of usage of tree-maps for effective ontology sense making. Proposed algorithm and prototype are quantitatively and qualitatively assessed for their accuracy and efficacy.

This paper, based on Roger Pouivet’s “applied ontology” theory, studies the effect of Warhol’s Brillo soap boxes, a work that could not convince the art world, when it was first shown, to accept it as an art piece. We strive to answer two questions: In the contemporary age, what aesthetic criteria turn a human-made work into an artwork? And deriving from Pouivete’s “applied ontology” theory, how is a contemporary artwork considered as the personal symbols of the artist and how are the aesthetic characteristics of the work received? An artwork in any style, form and content, includes contextual and formal symbols. In the contemporary age, this becomes a mix of personal symbols and already known collective symbols of a culture that together play a defining role in the creation of the artwork. In other words, a work will be recognized as an artwork when it is the subject of arguments among art experts, even without needing to reach any consensus.

Information technology is becoming an increasingly important tool of scientific knowledge due to the exponential growth of the number of publications presenting the results of neurobiological and psychological research. To identify predictors of cognitive reserves and methods for their determination based on the developed applied ontology, we performed a bibliometric analysis of publications contained in the PubMed database. It is shown that the annual growth in the number of publications relevant to the topic in the period 1990-2019 was 11%, which is higher than the average for science. We found the following psychophysiological indicators of cognitive reserves to gain the greatest increase in the interest of researchers: prefrontal cortex, beta range (13-30 Hz) of EEG, inhibition and information load. Analysis of the role of these factors suggests that the development and/or realization of cognitive reserves is provided due to inhibitory functions of the prefrontal cortex for the effective selection of relevant stimuli under conditions of information load. The identified predictors of cognitive reserves and the most popular methods of their psychometric assessment can be useful for choosing new areas of research in gerontology.

Information entities are used in ontologies to represent engineering technical specifications, health records, pictures or librarian data about, e.g., narrative fictions, among others. The literature in applied ontology lacks a comparison of the state of the art, and foundational questions on the nature of information entities remain open for research. The purpose of the paper is twofold. First, to compare existing ontologies with both each other and theories proposed in philosophy, semiotics, librarianship, and literary studies in order to understand how the ontologies conceive and model information entities. Second, to discuss some open research challenges that can lead to principled approaches for the treatment of information entities, possibly by getting into account the variety of information entity types found in the literature.

The article designs the system to form informational and legal worldview of cadets of the institutes of the National Guard of the Russian Federation (those who are trained in specialty 40.05.01. "Legal support of national security"). The main principles of the designed system are: protopostulates (they form the basis of the hierarchy of the main provisions of the designed system and represent those principles of philosophy that determine and control the course of research in pedagogical science); metapostulates (represent supportive assumptions for educational science); postulates (set the structure of the subject of study and the rules that must be followed in the process of solving the problem). As one of the main postulates of the system, the authors give the provision on the presence of two levels of information and legal worldview. The informational and legal worldview of the first level is interpreted as a subspecies of the professional worldview, and the informational and legal worldview of the second level is interpreted as a subspecies of the professional worldview. The implementation of the system is carried out on the basis of the application of the cognitive-evolutionary approach. The cognitive-evolutionary approach used in pedagogical research for the first time and it is based on the use of the cognitive-evolutionary theory of Piaget in the educational process of a military university. An example of the practical implementation of the system for the formation of an informational and legal worldview when conducting legal cycle lessons for cadets of higher educational institutions of the Russian National Guard troops is given. A feature of the described pedagogical experiment is the use of a cognitive-evolutionary approach in the educational process of a military university, based on the use of scaffolding technology. The application of scaffolding technology is carried out in an organic unity with the case method. The use of the case method, on the one hand, is a reflection of the currently actively developing plot-game paradigm related to topical problems of general and applied ontology, and on the other hand, it organically combines with the idea of identifying three phases in the process of forming an information and legal worldview - phase of prevailing accommodation, phase of choice of a mixed adaptive strategy and phase of prevailing assimilation.

In this article, the author attempts to consider the lacuna of “applied” ontology as proposed by the Lancaster version of the actor-network theory within the framework of a broader philosophically funded approach of Graham Harman (complemented by Levi Bryant’s ideas). This is done in order to clarify the position of the Lancaster version of ANT, according to which the same object may have several ontological modes, being, nevertheless, the same “real” object. For the purposes of analysis, the classical works of A. Mol and J. Law in addition to the works of L. Wittgenstein, L. Bryant, and H. Harman are used. The author of the article concludes that the ontological reality of objects and the perception of single objects as discrete ones within the framework of the ANT Lancaster branch results from the fact that Mol and Law do not fit their research into the framework of broader ontologies. They create their own local ontologies instead. Nevertheless, this “ontological lack” can and should be improved to increase research fruitfulness and complexity.

This article, based on Roger Pouivet’s “Applied Ontology” Theory, studies the effect of Warhol’s Brilloo soap boxes. The work was challenged at the time of its performance and could not convince the art world of accepting it, as an artwork. The research questions of this article are: 1. In the contemporary period, what aesthetic criteria turn a human work into an artwork? 2. According to Pouivete’s “Applied Ontology” Theory, how and with what approach is contemporary work of art considered as the personal symbolism of the artist and how is the governing aesthetics read? The hypothesis of the article is that the work of art in any way includes formal and content symbolism. Basically, in the contemporary period, the artist’s personal symbolism plays a finishing role in the creation of the artwork by mixing with already known collective symbols in a culture. The result suggests that in Contemporary Aesthetics, a work is recognized as a work of art when it is debated and exchanged without the need for consensus among art experts. The research method of this article is analytical-qualitative which has been done by collecting library information and virtual documents.
